Good afternoon,
We are a mix of sun & clouds & a little windy @ 67* If you happen to be in the sun when the wind is not blowing it's great. But the wind gives it little chill.
Dave, we celebrated May Day when I was in elementary school but it was mostly a school thing with a May Pole etc;
Charlene, I never even heard about the tornado in Va. Beach. We had heavy rain & a mild TS roll through just about the time I was posting last night & lost TV for a short time. Va. Beach is about 90 miles south & "across the Bay".
I've been paying bills this morning. One of my least favorite things to do, but has to be done.
Just in passing my eyes went to the 214 views for this forum & 14 replies. I would love to know who the other 200 are or even if they exist.
I'll be heading outside shortly but not sure what I'll be doing. Probably just some odd & end chores. Plant my milkweed seedlings out & maybe the impatien. Take care of the dying out daffodil foliage. Too wet to cut grass so that will wait until either this evening or tomorrow. I've done morning chores & been for a walk with Chelsea. Stopped & talked with a neighbor for a while.
Out of the 3 Mallow I planted in my barrel, two are fine & one seems to be struggling some. But I have plenty more so I can replace it if necessary. One of the Petunias also seems to be struggling. I don't have any more seedlings but Mike & I will be going to the plant sale in a couple of weeks & petunias is one of the things on my list. After almost 2" of rain over the weekend the struggling plants are probably drowning. I've had to stake up two of my Iris that the rain beat down & now today we are dealing with the wind.
BTW, it seems my GS has finally decided on a career path, at least for now; Sports & Entertainment Mgmt. If he sticks with I think it's a good choice for him. We'll see.
If I'm going to get anything done, I need to get going. Catch y'all later

Good afternoon all! 85° and sunny. I went to water aerobics this morning. Then went out to lunch with gfs. Went for ice cream afterwards with two of them. One was meeting someone from FB MP to buy a plumeria cutting so we went to Lake Placid for that. She ended not meeting up but we got to try a new ice cream place.
I'm going to go weed for a bit and look for butterflies. Yesterday I was watching the poor hummingbirds trying to get to the feeder while it was rocking in the wind. Today all is calm.
Tonight is Mexican train dominoes and then Zoom stitching with my NY friends.
Hope you're having a great day all!

Charlene, I want to make your Orange Marmalade Muffins but need to know how many the recipe makes…I am thinking 12 but even looking at the recipes for the other muffins in the cookbook, am not sure. Would appreciate your help…they sound so good. In spite of next to no rain here, the geraniums are beginning to grow. Thanks.

Linda...I believe they do make 12 cuz I know some times I just make them into a cake and it fills a 9x13, so that usually equals 12 muffins. Charlene

Ok..thanks a lot Charlene. I made Scones but soon as they are gone, we will have your muffins. Now, if we could get some rain! Just had a thought…is there a way to post the number of muffins we can get for a recipe?

Good eveving,
The sun/clouds thing lasted all day & even now it sometimes looks like rain is coming, but none in the forecast.
I feel like I got quite a bit of the outside odds & ends done this afternoon & feel is a good word because I am definitely am "feeling" what I did.
I got all the Impatien & Annual Milkweed seedlings planted, pulling errant weeds here & there as I planted. I had the seedlings in the wheelbarrow & would toss empty cups, weeds, my tools, etc; in there as I was working. A big gust of wind came along & styrofoam cups went everywhere. I was tempted to just let them go but I didn't want to be the neighborhood litterbug, so I went tramping through the woods to retrieve them.
I also planted a few Lily bulbs while I was at it.
Then I mowed & trimmed Chelsea's yard & sprayed for deer.
I don't see any signs of the Cleome coming up that I sowed at the fence, but I do see a few phlox returning. I'll leave them & see how they do.
I'm just sitting here with a glass of iced tea, watching the birds & catching my breath. Next is a hot shower & washing my hair. Then I'll see about something for supper. Which will probably be leftovers. The fur babies have already had their supper & are napping, which sounds good to me.

Good evening. Basically started my last month today, except I now plan to finish out the last week, which will mean June 2nd will be my last day. I guess you could say I'm doing that out of spite. I don't know if I mentioned it last week but out new HR trainee emailed me last week congratulating me and asking me to type up a letter. She said she was told my last day would be May 26th. I may not have a bachelor's degree but even I could see that if I left that Friday instead of the next week not only would I miss the holiday pay for memorial day, but also over 6 hours vacation that is accrued each month on the last day. She never would say who told her but finally said it was up to me. So I decided that if the middle of the week was a problem for them I'd wait till June 2nd. Of course either way it shouldn't make a difference if it's the end of the month or end of the week. If I don't have to take any vacation this month I'll have 5 days that they will pay me for when I leave. I'm ready to go but will stick it out. I'm so tired of the braggy, know-it-all 20 something that I've trained to do most of my job. Management seems to listen to him tell them things I and my officemate got shot down about years ago and we can't help but get aggravated about that. He's a nice enough kid but thinks his 2 degrees means he knows it all, even though he didn't even know what a countersink or counterbore are when he first came. Those are pretty basic for an engineer. And he is always quick to say he doesn't need this job, that he has this and that. His grandparents own a BBQ place and he helps them and just started an ice cream business. He brought some ice cream in once and I didn't care for it. It left a greasy film in my mouth. Sorry for the soapbox but today I emailed someone about something and copied him because he will have to handle things when I'm gone. This person is bad about not responding and I've dealt with him for several years and nothing changes no matter how many managers I involve. But today this kid went to a manager and about it and was told to give him a day to respond to me and if he doesn't the kid is to email him and copy several managers and continue to do so till he does. Looks like the managers will make this engineer do something they have not only never done, but have always said they can't because this person doesn't work at our facility. And shortly after I started there I was called into my bosses office because someone told him I said that the company wasn't organized (as far as the work flow). I was told not to Ever say they weren't organized. But guess what? This kid, and several other newbies, say it all the time.
Yep, it's time for me to leave.
Gayle, what kind of "tea" is that? Lol.
I had a big hole in my night last night so might go to bed early. All the kittens have already sacked out. I had 2 in my lap for a few minutes but finally got one to move.
Have a good night.

You deserve a heck of a retirement party, Leslie! What you have put up with would have broken lesser people.
Glad to hear, Gayle, that you feel like you got a lot done. I feel the same. I didn't do everything I thought I would, but I did plenty today. There's always tomorrow.
Just about to settle in to watch American Idol. I skipped the beginning part of the season, but now that they are down to the top 10 things could get interesting.
Wishing everyone a nice night.

Gayle, every time someone reads the posts, no matter how many times a day they check in, it is counted. Not a case of hundreds of different people reading.

I also don’t think the counter is accurate. I can be the only one on the board and start a thread and when I return to the home page immediately after posting it sometimes shows like 5 views. Since there is no way anyone could have viewed it besides me I know its inaccurate. I know I view the thread many times a day.

But this was this morning . I wonder how many people checked in to make that extra 200 views? There were 14 replies at the time so even if just assuming it was those 14 people they would have had to check in an average of 15 times each within a few hrs time.
Plus I just went back to check the time frame. I see it shows the thread being started at 8 AM my time & that I posted at 3 PM which is off by at least a couple hrs. So the other info is probably off too. Doesn't really matter, it just caught my attention for some reason

I check several times too, but not 15 times within a few hrs. I guess the 214 views versus the 14 replies just caught my eye. The next time I go back & edit a post, which I do a lot (LOL). I need to see how many views were added while I was doing that. Just out of curiosity

Those numbers are a lot more accurate than you think. Anyone can see this forum and read. They don't need to sign in to read only to post.

Afterall, what possibly was I going to do with my life if I didn't work. I definitely knew I had enough and thankful everyday that I was able to retire.
