Good late afternoon or evening for some of you! Yes...it is raining....again. What happened to the forecast???? It was supposed to be sunny....Oh well.
I'm happy to say that the fan in my bedroom was installed this morning. Looks like I will be able to sleep more comfortably.
After lunch I drove my DGS home. Then stopped at the Dollar store to pick up 2 bowls and a placemat for my friend/neighbour's cat....which by the way I will be looking after for the next two weeks. I wanted her environment 'pretty'...that is the cats food area on the balcony. I know, I'm a cheese cake.
I've invited this same friend for a Bailey's as a send off for her upcoming trip.
How was your day?

Good evening all.
I am just sitting back relaxing after an 8.5 hour day of work. I peeled some potatoes and have them in the frying pan to go along with some brats. I am going to try and eat between 5 and 6 instead of between 7 and 8:00 like I usually do.
I got an offer for a part time job but instead of the 10 to 12 hours a week they want me to work 20 to 24 hours a week. That is just too much. I will keep looking.....
I will stop back later to see what everyone is up to.

It was a busy day for me. Along with a group of friends from the local hospital auxiliary, I spent the morning making salsa, zucchini relish and summer garden pickles. When the finished jars were lined up on the counter, they looked so pretty.
Quite a bit of rain for us today, not constant, but we need it so badly. I feel bad for the farmers whose livelihood depends on crops growing.
Hope your day was a good one.

I've been up to my arm pits in tomatoes today. I decided all the tomatoes in the chest freezer were coming out! Man I had quite the bounty last year! I used 2 full target bags yesterday. Today I took out 6 or 7 bags plus a 5 gallon bucket we had in the freezer as well! I'm going to juice them all and can qts of tomato juice for soups, stews, etc. My mom wants some too so will share some jars with her. We also decided I'd bring green tomatoes from the garden and we will make mincemeat this weekend. I also made another 5 pints of grape jelly so all the juice is used. Tomorrow I will make salsa and can that. Somebody stop me!!!!! Dh and I also ran to the community garden to pull weeds and check things. Waiting now for dd from volleyball. Shes here so ttyl!

Good afternoon everyone, its 83Β° with blue skies, sunshine and a little breeze this afternoon; so I guess we have your sunshine today. Our forecast is calling for similar weather tomorrow, but 100 degree heat Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. So thankful for A/C as it's not safe to leave windows open around here.
We could use some of that rain, it's been really dry around here, we just had a few sprinkles the other day.
Great niece is here again today; she is 7 years old and sure has a lot of energy.
Kathy, I hope you can find a part time job with less hours as 20 to 24 hours does sound like way to much.
Enjoy your evening everyone.

Good Evening, Another lazy day for me, it was so humid from all that rain we got last night. I was doing so good until I decided to take GS to lunch. After taking him home, I didn't do much.
Another day tomorrow, have a great evening.

Melissa in Minnesota- is it possible to share your recipe for making tomato juice, please? I'd be interested in giving it a try. Have you ever made it and turned it into something similar to V8 juice? If so, could you please share that also.

Good evening everybody. Not quite as hot today but certainly not cool either. It's 80ΒΊ right with a feel like of 86ΒΊ We had a little bit of rain after midnight last night from a passing TS but not enough.
Worked today & again tomorrow, nothing new going on.
Kathy, no way you could work 20-24 hr on top of your regular job. Hope you find something better than that. We just found our that the company I work for will no longer be servicing Family Dollar stores after Monday. That's a loss of about $75 mo. for me. However DM says they have signed a 3 yr contract with Dollar General to service their stores exclusively so supposedly that will make up for it. We'll see. I had 2 FDs but only 1 DG
I'm going to go get me some Ice Cream

Good evening friends. Today sure was a strange day. We were all prepared for the "storm of the summer" but only got a misty rain a few times. Nothing like scaring us to death, maybe the wind carried it over us.
Nothing exciting happening here. Checked Rick's tomatoes and every single one of the lower ones have teeth marks in!!!!!!! Chipmunks or mice, or rabbits??? You would never think we live in the city, 5 skunks running around at night with the raccoons, then the usual chippies, squirrels and whatever else is lurking about. The peppers seem to be doing ok.
Well just wanted to stop in and say hello and welcome to those who are new to our "Chit Chat" :)
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Good evening. Its been a long day. I'm about ready to call it quits and head to bed. (zzz)
The visit with DM went fairly well today. She was feeling pretty achy and really wanted to get out of going to eye doctor's appointment she was scheduled for, but I talked her into going anyway since she was already in town. We've had some rain on and off for a while here, and she is thinking that the weather may be making her hurt so much. I talked to DSis#3 today and I am going to gingerly broach the subject of DM possibly considering the notion of moving in with us girls, doing like Abey does with her daughters. There are four of us, and if she is ever going to agree to this, we are going to have to go with her doing like her mother did - a move every month. I'm sure she wouldn't go for a move every week. She's probably not going to go with doing this at all, but I want to be able to say that I have tried my best for her. DH is on board with the idea so I don't have that to worry about. DSis#3 said she thought her hubby would be okay with it also. One of us will run it by the others to see what they say. Even if they don't want to, I think it is really getting to be time that DM do something else with her living arrangements. We'll just have to see what she says, and then we can go from there.
I heard back from my DNA match today. Unfortunately, he knows little about his family and is just getting started on his research. Right now, he has no idea how we are related. That is disappointing, but the DNA doesn't lie. We are family. We just have to figure out how.
DH and I moved the big shepherd's hook I have had out in the raised beds to be up by the office window in the rose bed for the new/old hummingbird feeder. I had it hanging on a shorter hook, but that was way too short. My next step is to get a new ant moat since I cannot find my other one. I'm sure it won't be long before the ants find their way to this feeder, and I don't want to be fighting them constantly. It was a good choice to put the new/old feeder out. The hummers seem to like this feeder way better. It has perches, which I think is easier for them. I looked for that when I was buying the other one but couldn't find one that had perches, a wide mouth for easy cleaning, and would hang on my window. That didn't seem like too much to ask, but apparently it was, so I settled when I shouldn't have. If I cannot find a moat locally, I did find the one I had before on Amazon. I can just order it from them.
So, that was my day. Doesn't seem like much, but it sure does feel like a lot. Think I'll head off to bed now. Have a nice night, folks!
Oh yeah ... it is awesome seeing so many friends chit chatting with us tonight! :))

Hi! It's rather late to be posting here. My day ran away on me today & little computer time. Don't really know what got accomplished but here we are past 9 p.m. & just now getting here! Do you have days like this & nothing to show for it?
Donna, you must have all the rodents! π We live rurally & can't say we have seen or smelt skunks this summer nor have we seen racoons. Must be a down year in their cycle here. Mind you fall is still to come & who knows what will be roaming about looking for winter homes!
Karen, I hope your Mom will consider moving in with you & your sisters. I gather you all live fairly close together. Will you be able to manage if your Mom's condition worsens? Such hard decisions to be made by you & your sisters besides getting Mom to agree this is the way to go. Sorry to hear your Mom was hurting today. So many feel badly when there are weather changes.
Need to get my grocery & Walmart lists together tonight. When Ray decides he's heading to town best be ready! LOL Good luck getting hold of him if I forget something. He either doesn't take his phone in with him or he doesn't bother turning it on! π So much for that idea!
Meant to say, Melissa you are a beggar for punishment with all the canning/juicing of those tomatoes! π You surely had a good crop last year! Will you be freezing as many this year considering the amount you had left over?
Well, think it's time to say good night. Will try to do better tomorrow between loads of laundry, etc. Sleep well, everyone.

I am also on my way to bed. I have been reading and I am elated at all of the people joining us here...I love! It is interesting to "hear" how everyone's day was and what they did. OMG...right now it all of a sudden started thundering and lightning....thought it wasn't going to hit us since it was suppose to be here 2 hrs ago. I've got to go and shut down the puter. Our modem was struck once and it not a good deal...means new computer. Charlene
