Yorkshire Pudding-tasty 4 oz plain (AP) flour a pinch of salt 1 egg 1/2 pint of milk or milk and water (1/2 a British pint is 10oz)
Mix the flour and salt, make a well in the centre and break in the egg. Add half the liquid and beat the mixture until it is smooth. Add the remaining liquid gradually and beat until well mixed.
The recipe goes on to suggest adding 1 oz of butter into a 7" square pan and heating that n the oven before pouring tha batter in and then baking until well risen - no time frame. Personally I like to use a "PAM" type spray in 2 individual dishes. Then it takes about 20+ minutes at 400F (if the oven needs to be at 425 for something else that works just fine).
Further on the recipe talks about variations and says to use the same mix and then "grease 12 patty pans" and cook at 400F for 20 minutes to make popovers. Same thing by another name and size. The individual ones ( what ever size) look nicer to serve.
