I'm starting this early, as my house is empty and I'll be unhooking my computer shortly. Will be out of regular contact until after Labor Day. :'( I will try to use the library computer if I can remember the new addresses here! Be good while I'm gone! :) Will miss everyone, Lily

Hi Lily! You will be missed while you have no internet service. Would be nice if you could manage to connect at the library. You might want to write the address down to have handy for visits to the library. I think you'll be going to the library for new books as you read so quickly. The bunch you have likely won't last you two weeks.
Regarding your new apartment, I missed hearing if this is the apartment unit you were wanting to go to. You'll be looking forward to having all your own things settled in your new home. Hope all goes well fo you at you son's.
Not a lot happening here. Did get my plants watered but not much else. Just about time to go and throw a few things together for supper. Other than roasting some chicken the rest will come together easily.
Will check in later. Be well, Lily. Will be thinking of you.

Hi everyone! Lily hope you can use the library computer and keep in touch. Hope the move goes smoothly for you.
Today the temperature was just right and the humidity went way down it feels good. To bad I had no energy to do anything. Oh well it's Sunday a day of rest.
My dd didn't come to dinner some lame excuse that's a whole other story. Lets just say we aren't on speaking terms. But I tried with having her over.
Have a good evening.

Dear Lily, you will be missed and you know we will all be thinking of you while you end this chapter of your life. Hopefully you will be able to touch base with us from the library. Like Angela said, write it down and tuck it in your purse or whatever you take when you go out. Prayers that everything goes well with your DIL. It's only a short while and you are a tough cookie :) you can do it.
Waving hi to you Angela and those that follow.
Not much to report, we did get more rain so don't have to worry about watering but a lot to do outside. So many plants are done and need to be tidied up. Not sure when I will get out there. I need to get this closet in order that I ripped apart. I guess I was having a dumb moment when I started it. :) I closed the door so I can't see the mess I made LOL but I know it's there.
Have a great evening everyone.

Good evening.
I did laundry and about 3 hours of weeding and that was only half of one large bed. I am going to go back out there in a few minutes and do some more.
I feel your pain Sandy. Hugs to you.
Lily I sure hope you can get back on from the library and I am sorry this will be your last day in your home, hugs to you too. I swear I have seen Liny as one of the posters or viewers but I have never seen a post from her. Is she in?
Gotta get busy, talk later.

Good evening! Not a bad day....the temperature was more comfortable this afternoon.
I baked chicken and sweet potatoes. I also made a chicken noodle soup. My DGS is over so I felt I should cook. I feel like I am only semi retired from cooking today...lol. We then took a ride to the park. DGS loves the swings. While he was having fun, I knitted. It was truly pleasant in the park. There was a nice breeze. We just finished dinner. It's Olympics, knitting, and spending time with DGS.
Lily, I sure hope you are able to post here as much as you can. Angela, how is the weather in your neck of the woods? Sandy, I think we have all been there. When you have kids, it's not always like in the movies....!!!! Waving to you Donna....who is not that far away from here...well maybe a bit. Gitti, you sure like your exercise. I have to get back into shape again. So today our municipality sent the usual bulletin so we can choose the activity we would like to participate this fall. Not sure if I should take Zumba again. It really did damage to my knee. There is also aquatic exercises which I might take. Not sure yet. Kathy, I'll keep in mind that you don't have that scrunshie scarf....!
Hope you all have a nice evening.

Evening all. Its nice to be home. I have a headache tho right now so not doing too much, just watching Olympics. Sucked in to the mens tennis final. I really can't stand Murray so I'm rooting for Del Potro. I'm glad I got all the laundry done at my mil's. It was nice to come home and put all the towels and bedding away in the camper and not have dirty clothes piled high. We had dinner and I don't plan to do much beyond take a shower and relax.
Sandy-Sorry your dd is being difficult.
Stella-Water aerobics will surely be easier on your knee. Have fun with your dgs.
Need to go make hummer food. I'm sure it's a bit on the boozy side after a week! lol Have a great night.

Good evening. It is really overcast right now, and the radar is showing a colorful rain cell off to our west, right close to DM. Time will tell if it is going to move east and hit us, or if it will blow north and miss us all together. Maybe it will push the muggy weather through for a while. It wasn't too bad when I was outside earlier because the temp was way lower than it has been, but it got sticky the longer I was out. I feel like I accomplished a lot today. While I was outside I pulled out some spent green bean plants. A few had beans that had gone to seed when I wasn't looking. Just what I didn't need - more bean seeds. If you grow them and think you may need some in the spring, holler. I'm sure I can share some. I had DH take out the cauliflower plants that were too tough for me to pull. He has requested I use the pots I had the broccoli and cauliflower in this year to grow onions and more lettuce or spinach next year. That, I can do! I also found heavy sticks to use to stake the green pepper plants. They'd been falling over for a while now, but I wasn't about to mess with anything more than I had to when it was so yucky outside. I was able to pick some tomatoes and a pepper while I was at it. Unfortunately, I dropped the largest tomato on the cement and it split. Only me, I swear! When we came in I worked on DH's family tree while he was at his appointment. I just need to scan two pages into the other computer from everything that his uncle brought to me a few weeks ago. I have no vested interest in the people I was adding to the tree, but I sure do feel like I know them. It was pretty cool finding some info that led me back further than I thought I could get on the one side of the family. I think I will go to our parish office tomorrow to see if I can get the name of DH's 2x paternal grandmother that I am missing information on. I'm hoping that there are church records for the family that will be helpful. Once I have anything I can get on her, I will relax on his side of the family. I was hoping to get a message back on Ancestry from the DNA match that I tried to contact. Instead, I heard from a distant cousin on another side of the family. I'd forgotten all about our previous conversations. He either isn't on Ancestry very often, or he has been working around our branch of the family because I last wrote to him in June. Anyway, he is from IOWA so I want to be sure and foster whatever kind of relationship I can with him. If I can con DH into a trip to Iowa, I can meet up with this relative. He can see the Field of Dreams spot he'd like to see, AND I can see Charlene, Larry, maybe Lair, and Lily. What's not to love about that idea? Little does DH know, I am plotting a trip in secret ... LOL! Lily, we will be counting down the days until you are back with us regularly. I hope you are able to get online at the library to visit with us as often as you can. Peace be with you, dear lady. HUGS!!! Hmmm ... roasting a chicken sounds like a great idea, Angela. I haven't done that in a while. I'm going to have to think about that. Enjoy your meal! Doggone it, Sandy, I was hoping things would go well with your DD. I'm sorry they didn't. You are right, though, at least you tried. Donna, I am happy to hear that you got enough rain so that you don't have to worry about watering. Closing the door was a great idea. Sometimes you just have to go with the out of sight - out of mind theory. I've done exactly what you have many times by starting a project that I just can't finish in one sitting. It isn't going anywhere. Get to it when you can. Wow! I am impressed with your weeding today, Kathy. I wish I could do a fraction of what you got done. I pointed today while DH pulled. Gitti, you amaze me! A one and a half hour walk, huh? That is really something else! Good for you. I'm glad you also got some rain so you don't need to water. It sounds like you had a really nice day, Stella. I'm happy to hear it. Melissa, I'm sorry to hear about your headache. That stinks! Having been away from home for a few days not that long ago, I can SO appreciate how good it must have felt for you to be able to come home and just put away your laundry. You were very wise to do the laundry at your DMIL's. Well, I opened a new window to see who posted most recently. I learned a little something new by doing that. I got a pop-up window wanting to restore my drafted response. I'm going to like that feature a lot! Okay, I am off to eat a little something now so I can settle down and watch Big Brother soon. Have a good night!

Good evening everybody. I got the sprinkler moved all round the yard & the laundry put away.
I finally gave in & loaded the software for my printer on this laptop as the desktop is slowly dying. But I couldn't get it to accept the wireless connection. My oldest brother came to the house, sure he could do it. He spent 1-1/2 hr & he couldn't get t to work either. He was freaking me out, messing with stuff on this laptop. LOL But the driver is on here & I can print by plugging in the USB Cable so that's good enough
Kathy, were you the one asking about LINY? Charlene got her here & she posted a few times on the morning thread but apparently she was using Quick Reply (we think) & that was confusing her as some of her posts weren't being "created". We all told her to just use the Reply function but I don't think she's been back since.

((Hmmm ... roasting a chicken sounds like a great idea, Angela. I haven't done that in a while. I'm going to have to think about that. Enjoy your meal!)) karen, I have to fess up. The chicken was only two breasts! 😊 You are going great guns with your ancestry work. My sister has done our family. I'm not sure just how far back she has gotten but I do know it is quite a long way.
Karen you mentioned opening a new page to see who posted. Do you know you can just roll up the page & all the posts are at the bottom? You likely know this! 😊
Sandy, so sorry to hear you are having issues with your DD. That is always difficult & happens in so many families. As you said, at least you tried.
Gitti, do you use something like Fitbit to track your steps? How far do you get in your hour & a half walk?
Stella, sounds like you are having a nice time with your gson. I think swimming would be easier on your knees than Zumba especially since you aware of hurting your knees already. Having had knee replacements I really value one's own knees!
Melissa, get some rest & hopefully the headache will ease soon. You've had quite a week & in the heat besides!
Kathy, you are going great guns with your weeding. Your yard must be looking so nice. Get some rest tonight as it's Monday once again!

Karen you mentioned opening a new page to see who posted. Do you know you can just roll up the page & all the posts are at the bottom? You likely know this! 😊 I do know that, Angela, and I LOVE that feature! I missed that when we moved to TOH and couldn't do it anymore. What I meant was I wanted to see if anyone new had posted. I know I take forever to post, and inevitably people will have posted in the meantime. If they post after I have started, they won't show up with those who had posted ahead of me. I think I am actually obsessed with genealogy. I have gone a very long way back on some of the lines in my family, and for the most part, I don't think I can do a whole lot more right now. That is why I think I started on DH's tree. He really doesn't care one way or the other about whatever I may find in his tree. I was so excited to go back a couple of other generations with the new information I got from his uncle, and he pretty much yawned as I told him about it. LOL! Oh well ... I am sure someone in the family will be happy I am doing what I am doing.

Ah, I understand about the new posts. I hadn't stopped to think that newer posts wouldn't show up at the bottom.
Are there others in your huband's family who might care about their family tree? I am sure when Ray was younger he would have been very much like yours. Now, he often says he wishes there was someone he could ask about the past. Mind you, he wouldn't consider doing the geneology & his computer skills are next to none. So, he won't be going there! 😊

Are there others in your huband's family who might care about their family tree? I think there is a brother-in-law who would be interested. His oldest son is very into the family so I am planning to share what I have with him. Someone in that generation has to have this stuff to pass on down. He seems like the perfect candidate! I can't tell you how often I come across something in the family tree, and I think to myself I wish I could talk to my grandparents (or would have before they were gone) about their family. I did buy a book called The Grandparent Book that my mom's mother filled out for me before she died. I treasure that book! I really was on my own with the rest of the family, though. Last year I bought a different grandparent book for my mom. I asked her the questions in the book and I recorded her answers on a mini cassette recorder. With her ALZ, she had already lost the book once so I was afraid she'd never get around to filling out the book on her own. We made a day of it by her coming here, having lunch, and just talking about her memories. I'm SO glad I did that! My kids and I will always have Grandma telling the story of her life - in her own voice. I HIGHLY recommend people do that with their older family members. Too many family stories die with people because no one thought to ask them about their lives.
