Good morning and happy Friday everyone! It is 28º and 42º later in the day. Another day of melting snow slowly but surely. I am even seeing some areas of grass around the trees.
Yesterday I kept busy all day even though I didn't get all accomplished that I hoped to. In the morning I got the stray cat moved out to the garage. I know she'd rather be inside, but 1 house cat is more than enough for me. I took Lair's dog to get his nails clipped and trimmed up a bit in the afternoon. While he was at the groomers I ran a couple errands and washed my filthy car. It got dirty again driving home but at least all of the salt from winter driving is washed off.
I just got a phone call from DD. She and her husband are at the airport ready to leave for Mexico for 4 days...a very last minute trip. I can't say that I'd like to be traveling right now, but that doesn't mean I'm not wishing them a good trip. They both have their own businesses, so getting away is probably necessary right about now.....been a stressful year for them.
I will check back later.....right now I need to turn the heat off in the GH and feed the outside cat....she's begging at the dining room window. Charlene

Yesterday I took a friend who doesn't drive to get her first Covid shot and later met a cousin for lunch. We visited for about an hour and then she had to go to a tax appointment. I have 3 loads of laundry done and don't know what the rest of the day holds for me. Have a good one. Marlene

Good morning. 19 headed to 45. Nice and sunny out there right now. Starting to look like spring with melting and mud. The trees are getting halos around them that are getting bigger each day. I know we could still get snow but I really wish we wouldn’t! Lol! I would prefer rain if it has to precip.
Yesterday morning I did laundry. Caulked around my bathroom sink. Fiddled around with my plants. I ran some errands after dd got home from class. In the afternoon I spent time outside. Got some sun and cleaned up some of the junk that had accumulated outside the basement door from doing the remodel. We still have a barrel of construction debris as well as an otter sled full that dh needs to move.
Not sure what I will do today. I hope to spend more time outside when it warms up. I did buy some pots yesterday so I can plant my vodoo lily bulbs today since they are sprouting.
Charlene-Well great minds think alike right? Hope you can still find a place for the cat. Next thing she’ll be having babies!
Karen-Glad your shot went well. My arm didn’t hurt until the 2nd day so you may experience that today.
Ok this has taken forever so best get posted! Have a great day.

Good morning.
32 now with a high of 58 later. Sunday and next Tuesday we should hit 70 they say but towards end of next week our highs will go down to the 40s again.
After work yesterday I got the totes for the garage (tools and gardening supplies) unpacked and put away. My daughter had someone come and put up more shelves in the garage so that there would be plenty of room for both of our things.
Tonight I am going out for supper with my daughter Robin and granddaughter Katie. I will keep a mask on and lower it as I take a bite.
This weekend will consist of being outside setting up the patio. It will be nice to be able to be outside. I am going crazy being stuck in my room with the door closed because of those 2 nasty cats. I know a lot of you like cats but I think they are nothing but dirty creatures. When I cook I need to clean the kitchen each time since I have seen them on the counters and then stay in the kitchen while its cooking, a pain in the ass for sure.
Off to work I go, have a great day!

Good morning all! Nice bright sunshine but cold 16* and a wind. We haven't had to much wind through the winter but now that March is here it's just blowing. I saw some Red winged black birds this morning and starlings attacking the suet. A sure sign of spring!
My maintenance guy was just here and replaced my kitchen faucet so no more drips.
I didn't start any seeds last week but I better do it this week or I won't do it at all. Just no enthusiasm to start seeds this year. I was going through some of my notes I have stashed and have a credit with Jackson & Perkins for a rose bush. First I have to go out and see which one I'm replacing (color wise) I don't remember from last summer/fall.
Time to pay some bills and get moving. Have a good day.

Good morning. It is sunny and cold here right now. I suppose it will be a typical March weather day today.
Unfortunately for our family, that will be the only thing typical about the day. DSisIL, the one who helps us like crazy, lost her husband last night. He apparently died in his sleep. We're all in shock because he was only 61 yrs. old. Of us "outlaws", what we who married into the family called ourselves, he was the youngest. DH and I both said if any of us were to go, we would never think it would be him. So many of us have health problems that would have made us more probable. DH is devastated. I knew when I heard him heavy breathing as he came into the bedroom something was wrong. This day is just plain going to suck!
Gayle and Melissa, you were both right about my arm eventually getting sore. It doesn't hurt as much as my flu shot did last time, but it is noticeably sensitive today. I'll live and am glad I got the shot. It's a small price to pay.
Well, I need to go see to DH and answer a family text message. Wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning
It is currently 27° here and the sun is shining and I see now clouds. The wind is blowing briskly so probably would be mighty cold out there. Temp would not be bad with no wind.
Nothing much on my agenda for the day. Guess I will just continue reading. Thank goodness for the many people who write books.
Have a good day

Good morning. The overnight low was 4° and the wind chill was below zero. The March winds have arrived. Yesterday driving on the interstate I could really feel it. We will be getting a serious warmup by the middle of this coming week but it isn't going to last and we have snow in the forecast again after the warmup. Yesterday I worked a few hours and finished up my week. A couple of jobs didn't get done but the driving out weighed the pay by a long shot. They will just get added to next week's work where I have other jobs in the same stores. I am in trouble today as I am in an organizing mood which by tomorrow I won't be able to find a thing. This morning I have been reorganizing everything that I carry to work with me. Finally found a briefcase upstairs that I think is going to work out fine. The essentials that at need at every job are handy to get to yet there are plenty of zipper pockets to keep the stuff that is usually in the car in a bag should I need it. Not very convenient. I now have all my cleaning supplies with me all the time, my tools etc. I am also a pack rat when it comes to some things that are being thrown away from displays etc. that I have to redo. Some of these items come in very handy when you run into something for a display that is missing in another store including plastic bags. I know don't laugh but they are needed sometimes. Everything is now neatly packed into one briefcase along with my clipboard and tablet, chargers, cords etc. Next is the house. DS and gang are finely coming for dinner tomorrow night so I need to find the dining room table. I can't wait to cook a meal for someone besides myself. Today I need to go to town for a few groceries and to DGD's to drop off my garbage. If I get really ambitious I may even get the boxes in the basement torn down and drop them off at the transfer station. I have watering to do, seeds to plant and transplanting to get done also. The talk of Asian food always makes we want some. Last night I tried a recipe for Mongolian Beef that was pretty good. It was a Jet Tila. He uses the velvet method on a lot of his meats for stir frying. Not only does he use the baking soda but also makes a slurry with cornstarch and water and adds a little cooking oil. Even though I didn't do a great job of slicing the meat I let it marinate for 2 hrs, (recipe said 2-12 hours) and it was so tender. Tonight I plan on making shrimp scampi. Haven't had that in a long time. Also need to make a dessert for tomorrow night. It will be something lemon as DS'S SO loves lemon.
Karen, sorry to read of your loss. 61 is much too young.
Have a great day.
Bet

Melissa...I hope you get a voodoo lily bloom this year. I doubt I will as mine bloomed last year and they say they seldom bloom 2 yrs in a row. I am afraid that this cat may be carrying babies on board. That week in January when it was warmer than usual, I know I heard cats at night. I am afraid she had already been "exposed" before she came begging at my door to come in during the frigid cold. She's a smart cat, isn't she?
Kathy...what....70s??? We do have mid 50s in our 10 day forecast but then back down to 30s for highs. Have a fun evening with Robin and Katie.
Sandy...I am not as fired up about seed starting this year as I am many years and it's showing in my seedlings.
Karen...OMG...my sympathies to you and Tim and especially to Tim's sister. I know that you were close to this sister and her DH. They both did so much work for you when they lived closer. What a shock that is for sure. We never know, do we?
Carol...yes that dang wind certainly can make it feel so much cooler. Enjoy your reading. I never cultivated the love for reading and I often wish I did enjoy it, but I don't. Charlene

Marlene....I missed your post...I also should apply for an uber or taxi license....yesterday I ubered a dog, not much conversation with him...lol. You must have gotten up early to have 3 loads of clothes done already!
Bette...It's dangerous when I get in an organizing mood, too. I have put things in a "smart" place never to be seen again...lol. I was thinking oriental food for tonight when Makayla comes but instead decided on something quick that I can make when she gets here as I never know what time it will be. Pork loin slice on the George Foreman, roasted carrots, parsnips and sweet potatoes and a salad will be tonight. I plan on making some kind of dessert but haven't decide what yet. She loves cake so I'll probably go with Ugly Duckling cake. Charlene

Sandy-Some days I don’t feel like seed starting either and I have plenty of time! I think its just a LOT of work!
Bet-I have been doing some organizing as well. Cleaned my closet this morning and have a bag of clothes for the good will. I tossed a lot going through bathroom stuff last week too. Enjoy your visit with ds and fam.
Carol-Glad you enjoy reading since it does help the day go by.
Karen-I am so sorry for your loss. How sad and far too young.
Charlene-Well guess you will find out soon then if she did get pg already. Then you’ll have more than one cat to try to find homes for, again! You must be a magnet for them but I’m glad you care enough to take care of them.
Kathy-Enjoy dinner out with your dd and dgd. Dh and I may go out tomorrow. If so it will be a year since we did. Crazy to think.
Marlene-You’ve been putting on the miles driving people around but nice you are able to do that.
My mil is having some kind of knee surgery. She has a large cyst that is causing her so much pain she is struggling to walk. She hasn’t seen a surgeon yet so not sure how invasive it will be or when. I will offer to come stay there if need be.

Good morning. 27° here overnight. This morning (whats left of it) its mostly sunny with a few high clouds. Today is expected to be cooler than the last few days and expecting a cool weekend but at least no rain. Yesterday I got the patch I'm gonna set out my onion plants mostly ready. I see on the tracking they arrived in Greensboro this morning so I'm figuring they will be here tomorrow. Not going to put them in the garden this weekend though. We're probably gonna be down in the mid or even lower 20s the next couple nights and these plants I figure were likely grown in a green house so not hardened off for the cold nights. Supposed to warm back up by mid week so hopefully I can keep those plants till then and they'll be ok. Also got my trip up to Boone yesterday stuck in my day. Seemed like yesterday I was busy all day running here and there so today I plan on making it a point to stay home all day. Now don't that sound like an exciting day lol but its the kind of days I love. Hope all of you have a great day. Stay safe and free.
