Does anyone go to yard sales, estate sales, resale shops, that kind of thing. I never have but I think I would like to do it. It sounds interesting, but I certainly don't need any more junk around here. Maybe I should not go to a sale, but have a sale. I have junk, cheap. - Rick -

No sales for me. If anything, I should be downsizing & having one! I dread the day my hubby has to do something with all his prized possessions in the garage! LOL

I used to go to yard sales but haven't in a long time, to much driving around. I do enjoy going to thrift stores once in a while.

I used to love garage sales and auction sales.....but I don't go to garage sales very often any more because I buy stuff I do not need because it is a good deal. My husband has banned me from going to auction sales because I get too carried away and have to call for extra trucks (even though I have our truck) to help me bring things home. Charlene

yes, I go to estate sale, yard sales and good wil. We have a small antique booth, that we need to update every so often. But trust me I have lots of stuff for it. I try not to go very often, but DH loves to buy.

Not for a long time because I have no room here for much more stuff! I once on a while go to a thrift store if a friend wants me to go along with them I do kind of like antique glassware and interesting knicknacks.

Yes...many years ago, I, like many of you, am trying to get rid of things. Have done pretty well in the last year, but still much to go.

I used to go to garage sales when I was younger. These days, I am like you, Rick, I probably ought to have a garage sale instead of going to one. I did plan to have one before our son's wedding in May, but that never happened. The best laid plans ...
We have been collecting our own junk for over 30 years. Both of our kids moved out of state after college, so they left A LOT of their "stuff" here. I took in a bunch of stuff from my step-mother when she passed away. Additionally, DH and I moved into his parents' home when his mother died. The other siblings took what they wanted out of the house, leaving us with the rest. DH is sentimental about his family, making him highly reluctant to pitch anything from his parents. Needless to say, we have plenty we COULD get rid of in a sale. Now that I think of it, we still have plenty of warm weather left. I can still plan and pull off a garage sale. Thanks for the reminder, Rick!

I really like Y.S, Thrift shops, etc...never have been to an auction...but like many of you, have downsized and don't need anything...BUT. it is so exciting when you find something that you can use, give away to somebody that really needs it, or remodel, restore, repaint, that's my hobby, just give things a new life makes me happy...I found in our latest trip this beautiful brass thing like a dome for hanging pots...I'm still wondering what I will do with it?? maybe use it to hang my small gardening tools??

I like yard sales, but around here you have to drive too much to go to any of them & they start way too early for me. I figure there's nothing of somebody else's that I need bad enough to get up at 6 AM & go get. LOL
Memorial Day Weekend almost everybody on the island has yard sales. It's a big thing. I went over a couple yrs ago around 9:30-10 & everybody had already taken their stuff in.
We have our own community yard sale twice a year & I always participate in them. We start at 8 & that's early enough for me.

Yes I do Not the ones local. Go to big ones. In fact just went to 127 yard sale this past week. I enjoy people at sales. Got two more to go this year.

We do like to go to garage sales/yard sales. I like to pick up books for winter reading. Can't beat it when you can find books for .25 or .50 each. I don't go for much else except maybe odd things that can be used for planters. I got an old wooden magazine rack a couple of years ago that is perfect for a planter.
We did hit the St Rt 127 garage sale this year. For anyone who hasn't heard of it, it runs from Michigan to Alabama the first weekend in August. People come from all over the US and Canada for it. It's fun to see all the different license plates and talk to people from all over. We had a fun conversation with a couple from Missippi this year. They said they usually start in the south and come north every year, but decided to come to Michigan and head south this year.

That is quite the concept for yard sales running from Michigan to Alabama! Should tell my friend in Ontario who is a sale fanatic. She could plan a trip for that weekend & would have an absolute blast! 😊

My DH and I enjoy going to yard sales and auctions. Haven't been to an auction in quite a while. While I buy things that I can actually use and haven't gone shopping for it, DH purchases pictures to decorate the old garage and anything else that he thinks he needs. We should be getting rid of stuff now instead of accumulating more things. I'm afraid that job will fall to our children to do.
