Good morning friends. Another day of the triple H's so it's back to the pool. On the way home I'll stop at the store and get a rotisserie chicken. Enjoy your day. Nancy

Good morning Nancy and all who follow.
I woke up this morning to heavy rain and thunder - music to my ears. I don't know how long it rained but it had stopped by about 7a.m. giving us a little under an inch. It isn't even too hot at the moment altho that is likely to change in which case it will get quite humid. However it was a good start to the day. I really feel for the farmers, of which there are a lot in this area, whose crops look so sad about now.
We had our taco salad last night. and I managed to use up some of the veggies that needed using, inc. some leftover corn. That seemed to fit into a taco dish quite well. The green beans - well, they were good but that may not have been the right place for them.
With it not being so hot today, I will cook tonight. Just not sure what. Maybe pork chops or chicken. Hubby dug up our potato crop the other day, there are green beans to pick and some carrots - I might dig just enough for one meal.
Now doubt I will spend some of today watching the Olympics while pottering around getting other stuff done.
Have a wonderful day,

Well it is my turn to have a post disappear but it wasn't the site it was my darn satellite dish. Sometimes it can be impossible and take for every to post so I closed out and the little lifesaver didn't help this time. Will be back later and try again.

Have tenderized round steak w/ gravy and onions in the oven and made cole slaw and will have mashed potatoes and buns. For dessert will be strawberry/rhubarb pie with ice cream. We have Crystal light lemonade. I went to town and got a melon at farmers market so will give to the guys for lunch at 3:00 if they are still here. They are trying to start on the steps to the house and is interesting how they are going about it. Lots of rock to use up.
Hope you all have a wonderful day and weekend.
Marlene

Just finished 3 loads of laundry! Pinterest had a button that suits me to a tee "With all the laundry I do, I'm convinced there are people living in my house that I haven't met yet"! Oldest DD doesn't want to go swimming. She is going to Mets game tonight even though she's a Yankee fan. Made a small batch of potato salad to go with dinner tonight.

Good afternoon friends.
Began the day cooking a whole chicken. When cooled enough to touch, I deboned it. Have off the meat went into the slow cooker for some Chicken Tortilla Soup (I will freezer this in indiv. containers for DH to enjoy as part of his lunch at work). The other half of the chicken is going to be used later next week for another meal. I also baked two different cookies--Glazed Cinnamon-Mocha and Chocolate Thumbprints.
It's beginning to cloud up. Currently 90* with a feel like of 101*. Radar shows a small batch of rain headed our way around 5:30, but maybe it will hold off until dinner is over. Going to make Zesty Dijon Steaks and Warm Italian Potato Salad for our dinner. This is a Publix Aprons Simply Meal (publix.com/aprons) that they were cooking in the store this week. Thought it was pretty tasty, and since I have some Omaha Steaks in the freezer to use, I thought why not.
Didn't make much of a gain yesterday on solving the new dryer/washer problem, but looks like today there is a promising light. Monday we have to let the repair people from Whirlpool/Maytag come out and look at it. This morning, after speaking to Home Depot customer service in Atlanta, they said they'd take it back after the service call and we can shop for something else, something not as loud.
Marlene, it's so nice to see you finally made it here! How is Red doing these days?
I enjoyed a few minutes off my feet, but break time is over. Need to get back into the kitchen. I clean as I go, so not too much of a mess at the end. DH is just finishing up cutting the lawn. He will do his knee exercises, shower, then we'll get things going for dinner.
Wishing everyone a peaceful evening. Lori

I'm at the pool and our power is out at home. I'm furious! It happens so much! It's too hot for this.
Edited at 5:45: Power is back on.

Hi ! We got up early - it was a gorgeous, sunny day - and headed for the Cabot Trail. It is the road that leads all around cape Breton Park. We stopped and saw 2 waterfalls, and we had lunch at a restaurant. I got a burger which was so-so, DH got fish n chips. We saw an ice cream shop so stopped there on the way home about 6 p.m. so I guess that was supper. Not sure of the plan tomorrow since it is supposed to rain. Nice to see you here Marlene. Your meal sounds wonderful! Lori, hope you can get the appliance problems resolved soon. DH is outside talking to our neighbors right now-they are from Florida! Have a good evening!

Woke up to some additional pleasant rain but by early afternoon the sun was out and the steam bath continued. Finally found a runner and smaller rug for the hall, have been looking forever. Maybe I should have bought two sets??
Just pizza and a movie tonight.

Good evening. It has been a long day. I am having my neighbor and his wife for dinner tomorrow night. This is the neighbor that does a lot for me and the only way I can repay them is by giving them dinner. The menu has been planned for a while but they didn't let me know until yesterday that they could make it this weekend so made it for tomorrow night. I am apple wood smoking a pork loin that will be served with a bordelaise sauce made with reduced pork stock rather than beef consomme, sides will be rice pilaf, broccoli with cheese sauce and coleslaw. Dessert is fresh strawberry short cake. This morning snacks with cocktails was up in the air. Had some ideas so went surfing for recipes. Finally decided on a cheese, red wine and Red's hot sauce, pimiento cheese and hummus with pita chips. Headed for the super market about 2 and since our store just doesn't have what you are looking for I spent so much time trying to find what I needed I never got home until 4. Once I got off the mountain only 5 miles I should have just kept going the other 18 miles to Walmart and wouldn't have been any later getting home. Had to come home and make tahini and pita chips. I have been cleaning and cooking since I got home. Still not done. Will be up early to get the pork out of the brine and get the dry rub on it. Need to have the charcoal going by noon and ready to start smoking. Need to go find something to eat for dinner and get to bed.
Good night.

We had several thunderstorms throughout the day and I see flashes of lightening again as I write. Too lazy to get up and find out if it is actually raining again.
A couple of loads of laundry done early this morning and probably another couple (sheets and towels) tomorrow. Hubby was golfing in the club championship today and as far as I was concerned it was too hot to spend much time outside so I baked - yeah, I know, it makes no sense. I made some hamburger buns, white bread, wholewheat bread and 3 different coffee cakes.
I did go out for long enough to pull some carrots and pick some green beans for supper' and 7 lb, yes, 7 lb of tomatoes. Not sure yet what I will do with them. Before I finished the heavens opened. By the time I got indoors I was very wet.
Supper ended up being chicken Parmesan, garlic bread, carrots and green beans. The chicken was fine but the veggies were great - nothing like veggies straight from the garden.
Have a good night!

Tasty, I am the lucky one as they are here in minutes if I ever need them plus he does things for me that I can't do like building the platform for the light pole I made.
