Leslie, your pain is as real as mine. Mine is no worse than yours. We all have to deal with it however we can. I do hope the meds give you some relief. I have no side effects with the Prednisone but everyone is different. Pain is pain and it's a pain in the butt!!!! We are still blessed though. :) Love being able to scroll down and see what others have said, even though I still forget the minute I have read it lol You are so right, pain is pain no matter what are issues are. Nice to find relief sometimes if all the meds do as they are supposed to! I like the scrolling down too & like you forget everything I've read!😊

Hello everyone! The beautiful day we were supposed to have has kind of turned into a rainy evening....that is not good for the outside entertainment down town tonight. Maybe it will be short lived.
We spent today doing lots of little things to make improvements around the yard...right now it is what it is. We are both satisfied. It was difficult to get anything done because people coming back for the festival stopped by to visit...so happy to see all of them! The darn work can keep...and it did...lol.
Donna, I did see your explanation about Rick's lung. I know a guy that had a collapsed lung years ago from a farm accident. He says it still bothers in humid weather and also extreme cold. I was going to ask if humidity made your pain worse, but I see you have already answered that question...stay inside my dear!! Thanks for starting this tonight.
Stella...our 2 GDs love the scrunchies....but as Kathy said...not the quality your home made ones would be.
Gayle...Yay that you have AC back...maybe a stupid question, but what is a French drain?
Melissa...I do NOT envy you being in Mpls traffic at all...BTDT! I think you introduced a candy product that we will all be in pursuit of...lol. Enjoy the evening in AC at your DMILs.
Angela...thank you for the complete explanation and the picture is a real plus! Now I know what I am looking for.
Leslie...hmmmm, you don't think that lifting a 2 yr old may be the reason your sciatica is acting up? It certainly may be a contributing factor.
I am going to clean up and head down town when the rain stops. I may not be around much this weekend. I hope to get time in the morning to start the weekend picture thread....let's say that I will make time.
I am not sure if we have to tell Lily good-bye tonight or if she will still have puter to visit in the morning.
It was nice to see Stanette, Joyce, Angela and others joining us on the patio this morning (can't remember who else...and I apologize for that) Charlene

Kathy- you really can't find coffee crisps in the states unless it's a specialty store. Believe me, we've looked! Being dh's dad was Canadian they would get them on trips there. This store was in Jordan, MN, about 45 min Sw. of Mpls. They were $2 each, so we only got 2 each. Dh said he has looked online and you can get them but probably would have to get a case.

Good evening. We were blessed with a couple of showers today, totaling about 1.3" judging by the rain gauge in the garden. It looks like we might get another shower tonight since it is clouding up again. I thought tomorrow might start to feel better since we won't be in the 90s for the first time in a while, but it doesn't sound like the humidity is going anywhere, so there will be one more day for that. UGH ... O_o The forecast calls for scattered showers throughout the day tomorrow. Maybe that will be the front moving in to bring us cooler weather. We are supposed to have much nicer weather for the bulk of next week. Yay!!!
I pretty much worked on laundry and in the kitchen today. DH came home from work and took a nap, which looked mighty fine to me, so I did the same. I don't usually do that, but today just seemed like the right time for it. Going outside was miserable ... napping was nice! I was outside twice to change the hummingbird syrup; each time was downright oppressive. The neighbor from down the block who brought us tomatoes a couple of times last year, surprised us with a small bag of tomatoes and a couple of cucumbers this afternoon. The poor guy was soaked when I opened the front door. He said he'd come out in the rain on purpose because he wanted to cool off from working outside all day. Made sense after I went out myself. LOL!
Things are looking pretty ratty out in the flower beds because we haven't touched them in a long time, but I went out with my camera for a quick walk around to see if anything was photo worthy. I had been forgetting to get a picture of the hyssop in bloom for a while now, so I started with that. It is beginning to fade so I'm glad I took the pic when I did. While it doesn't look as good as it did, I can at least look back on it next year and know what to expect for a bloom time on it. I'm never sure from year to year on much other than the Resurrection lilies blooming in August. In my walk around the yard, I discovered a couple sweet little volunteer balsam that came from Donna's seed years ago. I think they have volunteered for the past 3 yrs in a row, which I love. I also saw that my asters look like they should bloom fairly soon. The first color I am seeing is purple on the most ready bloom. That's a good sign for me because in year's past the dominant color has been pink. I've been trying to make a concerted effort to deadhead the pinks and let the purples and the few whites I had go to seed. It will be interesting to see if that worked.
Charlene, our community is having it's summer festivities also this weekend. I heard the band playing when I was outside earlier. We do not live close to uptown/downtown, but sound travels easily around here. Since it is so hot and sticky out, I am sure most people have their A/C on and shouldn't be too bothered by the music. I hope you have a good time this weekend!
Speaking of A/C, I am happy to hear that you have yours working now, Gayle. I have been thinking of you and your situation every time I go out to change the hummer feeder syrup in the kitchen window. Our A/C unit is right near the window, and it always blows on me when I lean on it to get into the flower bed to get to the feeder. LOL!
I am so sorry for our friends who are in pain. I sure wish that were not so! A lot of my body parts don't work like I'd like them to, but I am not in much pain. I am crazy thankful for that.
Safe travels, Melissa.
Thinking of Lily and how she has to be hurting tonight. I hope everything goes better than she expects.
It is so very nice to have so many commenting on our threads these days. I love it! I am now on page 2 so that is both a good thing because of the volume of posts, but also a hindrance for me to see what was on page 1 of the posts so I can comment. Guess I will just wave to everyone and wish you all a good night.

Oh, I wish we had the ability to redo our lost messages as at TOH! I hit some key and all my long message disappeared! GRRRR
My best friend came over with lunch from the grocery store deli, including slices of cheesecake. Is that a good friend, or not? :) She came prepared to help me, but there wasn't much to do, so we sat and talked and laughed a LOT!
Later I cleaned our my big freezer as it is going with the house. Lots of dibs and dabs and Daisy (my dog) will be eating good for a while!
It was a muggy, dreary day, with intermittent 2 minute showers.
I'm sorry so many of you are suffering pain and health issues. Praise the Lord, at 83, I take no medicine aside for an occasional aspirin for an ache or two. I am clear of breast cancer (2 years ago) and that was my only health issue.
Gayle, I'm happy for you that you have your new A/C working and you can stay cooler now.
Melissa, I expect you are staying at your Mom's and going home tomorrow. Will be good to be back home, I'm sure.
Kathy, I'm not one to call the dr. unless it is an emergency and then I am even reluctant to call, but with ongoing pain at least check it out one time, before it is too late to do anything about it!
It has been raining outside since I started writing this (1/2 hour) as I keep getting distracted and would be a nice rain IF we needed it, but don't. My back yard, where they installed the new sewer system is a muddy mess. Kind of glad I'm moving and don't have to mess with it. Of course, if I hadn't sold, it wouldn't have been replaced. A new county ordinance of 7 years old! Senseless as our system was working fine. But gives work (and money) to local plumbing contractors!.
On that grumbly note, I wish you all an enjoyable evening.
Lily

Good evening all. I had a productive day. The roof leak is fixed, the a.c. is fixed and I got my bank business straightened out. All things I needed to be off from work for.
It was really hot out today. I got ready to go to Mom and Dad's for supper and the car wouldn't start. I'm so thankful I was in the driveway and not out running errands in the heat. AAA came to the house and replaced the battery for me. Free diagnostics and install with my AAA membership. Well worth it. All in all, a very productive day off.
Enjoy your night.

Karen & Lily, sounds like your day was more relaxing than expected. Laughing & chatting with a good friend is precious, Lily. Karen, nice that you decided to have a nap. Some days that is just the thing to do. Like you I seldom do that.
Charlene, enjoy your weekend of festivities. I am sure you & Larry have you garden just right.

Hi All....I want a Coffee Crisp! Will check Amazon.com and see if they carry them. They rarely have let me down for anything I was looking for.
Chiropractic treatment this afternoon. I hope everything stays in alignment. As soon as I feel better I forget and do something I shouldn't and then it goes out again. Will I ever learn??
Gayle, so happy to hear you have a cool house again. Our temps reached 99 today and may break 100 tomorrow. I won't be leaving the house.
Everyone have a great night and see you all in the morning.

Lily, on the profile somewhere there is an option to save drafts but I haven' figured out how it works yet.
A few people on FB asked me what a French Drain was. A real French Drain involves digging a ditch & putting in that big plastic tubing then covering with gravel. Not doing that for sure. A friend told me about this & he learned it from an AC guy.
In this case it is a simplified French Drain. You take a flower pot or a small bucket, anything like that ( I use the plastic market Pots), drill holes all around it. Dig a hole & bury the container even with the ground, then fill with gravel. Let the pipe from the AC drip/run into that & it slowly seeps through into the ground underneath rather than making a big mud puddle all around the AC.
Unfortunately, it is not working. It is just filling with water & overflowing. I think the gravel is blocking the holes.
I'll try something different. Right now I have a short section of old hose attached to it & draining out into the yard & grass but that's bnot really what I want either
