Foodies, today is National Mint Julep Day. That drink only comes to mind when the Ky. Derby happens normally in early May, but since that didn't happen this year I guess any day can be Mint Julep Day!
On the kitchen counter this morning I have ingredients warming up to make a loaf of light wheat bread. I will try something different today--use the bread machine with the dough cycle only. I want to see if there is a difference in texture between machine and oven bread.
Today is DH's Saturday morning to work. When he gets out at noon he'll go on to the store and pick up the few items we need.
((Tammy and Dave))--saying prayers that today you'll have answers.
Dinner is going to be grilled chicken breasts topped with a corn and tomato salad and a few roasted potato wedges on the side.
Waving to all and wishing you a lovely day. Time to get some things done around the house--I'll hopefully get back here later in the day to see what everyone has been up to.

Good morning. It has cooled off considerably--yay! The humidity is heading downward, too. I need this--hot and humid isn't my thing.
Tammy--my birthday "cake" of choice for years was my mother's dried apricot pie! I'm glad DH is feeling better. I guess he's in a holding pattern until the weekend is over from the sound of it.
Betsy--thinking of your son today after seeing the news this morning. I hope all is well with him and that things calm down all over.
Chris--I love how you are playing with paying it forward. Great idea. One way to hug someone without breaking social distancing!
Now that it has cooled down, I need to consider cooking some things from my freezer and make some room. I'll have to do some rummaging this morning.
Talk to you later.

Just heard something on the local news that I had to share....
2020 high school senior graduates can visit the Pizza Hut chain website to sign up for the Hut Rewards program. Once their account is validated a free pizza coupon will appear in the account. Sounds like a great deal to get free pizza of their choice (no mention of size or number of toppings), but there is a drawback--the coupon must be redeemed by Thursday, June 4th.
If you know anyone that was a H.S. senior and graduated this year, please share this information with them.

Interesting--I haven't heard anything on our news but perhaps I wasn't listening. I'll pass it along.
What do you think? Liftoff today or not?

Good morning. I haven't set foot outside the door yet but it looks glorious with sunny skies and the grass and leaves on the trees are a lovely bright green after the rain yesterday, and the temperature is just 59F. What a great start to the day!
The washing machine is just about done with its first load and the bread machine is whirring away as I sit here, relaxing with my coffee. Lots to try and get done today and I am definitely in a better frame of mind to tackle them.
Have a great day 😎

bWfxUnQCOJTCdWDftxEE Morning! Woke up to rain, and the temps are definitely improving along with the humidity going down. Have to pick up meds for mom as soon as the pharmacy opens. Nothing else planned. Bill is cooking jumbo shrimp for dinner tonight. I think he'll make TOH's recipe for Cajun Shrimp Skillet. I have leftover porcini flavored peppered noodles as a side, and he'll make his mother's green beans with tomatoes and bacon. www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cajun-shrimp-skillet/Have a wonderful day! Waving!

Good cool morning from Vermont! Yes, our humidity has gone down too with the heavy rains last night. We may have frost tomorrow too!
I have never had a mint julep. Not sure I want one either! LOL Have a good day Lori!
Birdy- I need to do some freezer clean out-use up too! Too much stuff.
Tasty- Glad you are in a better frame of mind today. Hope you gets all you want done without over doing it!
Ann- We had one thunder storm over us last night with heavy rain for about 15 minutes. That was all.
Tammy- Still praying and holding you and Dave close. I was encouraged to hear he was feeling better yesterday.
Well not much on my agenda today. Thinking I will just take a relaxing day.

Good morning -- just now having breakfast of toast with strawberry jam and (of course) coffee. I'm planning to stay home and clean today. I think DH will work in the yard. After 2 rounds of strong thunderstorms yesterday, I think we are looking at clear skies and sunshine for the next week. I hope so!
Yesterday was a loooong day -- the drive-through just did not stop. I was exhausted last night and so a quiet day at home sounds perfect right now. This will be our last Sunday at home, as our church is planning an outdoor service next Sunday so I will be playing again.
Chris, I saw you mentioned being "Dashed" and having "Dashed" other people -- I've not heard of that. Do tell!
I have no idea what we will eat later but will figure something out.

Chris--just relaxing! Hmmm--are you sure you're feeling OK? Not a normal state of affairs for you. LOL! Enjoy!
We did have a thunderstorm last evening but it wasn't severe. About 5 miles from us, though, there were some straight-line winds with a little damage. Nothing like the last storm system we had, though. There were a few murmurs about paying attention to the weather report Sunday night because we'd be flirting with 30's overnight. Lots of folks out there have their gardens planted already.
Was it Ann who mentioned tandoori chicken? I had almost forgotten about my recipe for two. It is in the old archives so I thought I'd bring it forward by posting it here since it's such an easy version. Not authentic, I'm sure, but it was enjoyable all the same. Bet--sorry if you already reposted it to our cookbook--I didn't see it if it's there. If so, ignore this.
There's another tried and true oven-baked chicken recipe that I've used for years with a southwest flavor. I've tried searching for it and can't track it down, so I'm going to post that one again, too.

Good morning. In my walk this morning I spotted a bunch of painted rocks. Someone in the park painted them and is leaving them around the park. I got an M&M one that looks like a bite from it.
Chris- when I was working and went thru drive thru I would do that. Or even at the hockey arena. I would pay for someones. It's great seeing their look on their face.
I got our face masks from Amazon yesterday.
We never did get the $78 sanitizer that DH ordered from TV. They said it was delivered to the door. I am so mad. We don't have that kind of money to throw away. Plus now we don't have sanitizer for our trip up North. We do have hydrogen proxide, that will have to do.
Bruce grilled that shrimp last night. It was more work peeling and deveining then eating it.lol. It was great, but then fresh is always better.
Tonight we are having fajitas. Tomorrow night will be hamburgers. Then Monday night a frozen pizza. The rest of the meat will be given to neighbors.
Tammy- thinking of you and Dave.
Chris- I have never had a mint Julie either.DH always buys mint ice cream and I don't eat it. Lol. Not that I don't like mint just to many other flavors.
I can tell you one thing I am not looking forward to all the rain and thunderstorms at the lake. I like this sunshine here.
I am making sausage links, eggs, and hash browns for breakfast today so we dont have to have lunch and get a few more things cleared out.

Good Morning ! I slept quite well and even got to sleep in a little. Just got out of the shower. My hair is washed and dried, just need to style it.
Chris, do your mean Door Dash? I assume you order a meal for someone and have it delivered? Sounds fun.
It sounds like a relaxing weekend for most everyone-enjoy! I will stop for lunch before going on to the hospital. DH wants more undies, and I have taken them all to him except for 4. I will take those today. I will probably stop somewhere and buy another package.
DH said they could not one test because his blood was too thin, but it may happen today. I did not think the lab would be open to do routine tests, but I guess they are. It seems as though it is a blood test, not something that he has to go somewhere else to have done.
Better get a move on here. Waving to all! Have a nice day!

Just inside waiting for it to rain and think it probably won't happen. I need to spray some more weeds! It is a never ending job.
Tammy I sure hope they come up with a solution what has been going on with Dave. He has not felt good for awhile now. Hope they are good doctors there and you both will know what has happened to him. Nice to get some answers.
Nothing here going on here that is interesting anyway ! Need to look at some recipes. Finding something to do.
