Good Morning, I'm feeling pretty sad, I think we lost all of the fruit for this year, its 29* but when up at 1oclock, it was 24. Been out feeding the orioles and no big fans running, that tells me everything is gone, waiting to hear from Jerry. Both of my birdbaths are frozen over, thick ice. The high is to be 51* and windy again. Yesterday our high was only 42* and a couple of times the snow was flying I do hope to get outside for a while today, but all depends on the wind. Yesterday the wind was so strong plus it was cold, I didn't get out only for the mail. Not a lot of things planned for today. Michelle picked up a few things for me Friday, one thing she couldn't get was my dental picks, all were gone, that was a surprise, good thing I have some. Enough for maybe 10 days.
Alice, How is the bread?
Lair, Smart move with the bread. Have a great day but be safe, no handshakes, no hugs, etc. Hope you find just what you want.
Leroy, I with you with the inside shingles, DD had chicken poxes only 2 spots, the Dr. said all were inside and she was very sick. Just maybe you will see some of the servers when you are out in stores.
Snow, Sure hope your plants survive, I will go out soon and check out mine. Enough is enough of this virus.
Charlene, Had you heard from Alma?
M/M Sure glad Jill is there with you and helping so much. Yesterday it looked pretty but it was bitter cold. That's a lot of roofing, got some ear plugs.
Carolyn, Good news at the eye dr. I need a hair cut so bad.
Mary, Sorry about the FF, I was so happy with the ones we got, hot and good. Our food was in a bag, and in a tray. Lots of places are taking your temps before letting you in the store.
Connie, I really feel sad about Mothers Day, I had it all planned, we would get KFC, we could be in the garage and driveway, keeping safe distance but now rain is in the forecast. No gathering. Glad you got some rain, guess that is what is coming Sunday.
Guess I need some breakfast, and do something. Have a great Saturday.

Good Morning, all
A sunny chilly day here, and I just got a freeze warning for tonight.
Carol, a shame about the fruit. I'm pretty sure my apricot tree has met the same fate. I only get a crop about every third year, anyway. Hope you flowers will be alright. I haven't planted any yet. The only fruit I'm sure of is the currant bush and that means I get one, then the birds get 10. I have to remind myself that they are the reason I planted it. sorry your Mother's Day plans are ruined.
Lair, have a good time today, and be careful. too.
Snow, love the tree picture. Crossing my fingers for your plants!
M/M, hope you can get your roofing done quickly.

Oh no, Carol...all the fruit? Last year it was just the peaches. My bird bath is frozen solid so the fruit trees had to have suffered greatly.

30 here this morning at 7:30 and now the sun is shining and it 46. Carol, not sure if I said but the Dr. is recommending eyelid surgery, at a later date. He said when your eyelids get droopy you tend to see through your eyelashes. But, right now, surgery is not highly recommended. It is a good thing though living in a small place, I got right and didn't have to wait too long. I was the only one there, and when I left there was one other woman. A haircut will be great. I am still using the spiral ham I got last week. But, today thinking I will cook. I have 2 pieces of cube steak that need to be used. Might fix broccoli and perhaps a potato with it. Valerian, I may have asked you before if you live close to Topeka? I helped open the Cracker Barrel there in 1994. Remember the Russel Stover candy place right close to that store. And, remember the all night Wal Mart. They were scarce then, think just maybe starting up the super ones. Lair, have fun. I know you will enjoy cooking for your company. Leroy hope you are feeling better, and also praying for Alma. I forgot where she is now. Snow, as always, such pretty pictures. Just hoping everyone has a wonderful Saturday. I started watching a series on the roku, so last night I finished it. It was full of action. Some language, which I hate, but not as much as some others. Have watched some uplifting shows on it also. Take care and enjoy your day. Hope the sun is shining where ever you all are. AuntCon, are you doing ok? Have you gone back to the VA yet?

Just maybe I over said, talked with Jerry and he seems to think all got thru it OK. Its just a waiting game until some of the blooms are cut off and gone thru.
Still cold and very windy.

Keysc, I live right in the middle of the state. We always stopped at the Russell Stover outlet store when we went to Lawrence. Sometimes it required a stop on the way back, too as DD would squirrel away what we'd bought on the way there!

Good Morning ALL! I've had breakfast and now on my second cup of coffee. I sat on the couch last night and crocheted on the blanket as I listened and watched Live PD. The blanket is now just over 2'. As I worked, I started to notice I could smell the flowers from the bouquet that the kids sent for Mother's Day. Where I sat on the couch is 10' away from the table where the flower vase is. Wow, I've never had flowers that were that powerful. At first I thought it was the carnations but it was the other flower. I am Loving it! Snow, I've never had that pink flower in a bouquet before so I tried to research it. Is it Matthiola Incana (Hoary Stock)? Can I grow it here in NE Iowa? (I see only as a biennial) I see in my research it says zones 7-10. OMG, I have a new flower want!!! I had frozen water in the bird bath. It was an inch thick but the plants all look okay. I cut most of my tulips that have been blooming the last week just in case. I guess I should have had faith in my own prayers for them all to be okay. The bleeding heart looks a little touched but most will survive. Well, the mail just came and I got a card from Bryan and a big drawing from Brylie. Brought tears to this grandma's eyes. Well, it's no longer morning but I started this hours ago.

Mary your flowers are beautiful. I get beautiful flowers several times a year from Joni and Curt in Va. they are always a surprise and enjoyed immensely.
I read the other day how you have been discouraging the robins building near your door.
Well Jill and I have been doing just the opposite. I have never had a chance to view the nest building the sitting on the nest and hatching babies up close so when these two started to build on top of an outside lamp beside the family room french doors and where they are very visible from my kitchen window by the sink we were very careful to not discourage them. We do have to be cautious when going out the other back door which is from the kitchen and she usually flies way but she stays on the nest when we just let the dog out or in. we even leave an outside light on beside the kitchen door so in the night she can see a predator. We moved a metal rack away underneath the nest so that a cat can not jump up there and we tacked a black garbage bag over a barn quilt that is right under the nest. don't want it splattered with you know what. There still is an iron mailbox underneath the nest on a post but have not thought how to keep a cat from jumping up on it to get to the nest. We see cats often on the outside motion cameras so know they are around.

MaryinMi, Those strawberries look so good!
I'm glad you can enjoy the robin. Our problem, us and the neighbor, is that the robins want to build and make a huge mess in a high traffic area. Cheri's nest would be right over top their front door. Our outside light is almost exactly the same as yours and is mounted to the side of the house just 9" from where the door opens. This is our main door and they would be 2' from our head when we go in or out that door.
I had one build a nest on the crook of the downspout out front and talk about a mess. The poop on the edge of the deck and rail was horrible but we didn't have to walk through it or under it. We had a nest built on the window sill upstairs outside the attic window. That was cool because it was right over the flower bed. You could go into the attic and look down at the corner of the window and see right in the nest. If they wanted to do that I'd be okay with it. I just don't want it right where we go in and out 25+ times a day.
Gonna get a zoom call from Bryan soon so gotta go.

Good evening. Seems things made it alright last night and not supposed to get below 39° tonight. It was well above freezing when I got up and I don't think it frosted. I uncovered everything this morning but will have to cover Monday and maybe Sunday, then later in the week high temps again. Mother nature is a little off this year.
The tulip bouquet that DD gave me last night are opening so pretty! I did a little cleanup with the hula hoe today then moved the new metal arbor thing over to the west fence and hoping the sweet autumn clematis will vine on it instead of the neighbors fence since they have a plexi glass cat house on top of the fence. Harry loves to sit in his cat house and survey his catdom! I tore it off the fence last year so he could see but hoping it will go on this metal thing instead. I will not plant any more until after this frost business is done. I did have DH slide the porch post up so I could put some cement bricks under it. The bottom has rotted some and should be taken down and the part cut off evenly but at least this will keep it out of the dirt and keep it from decaying any more. The birdhouse on top is just for decoration although birds do check it out but the holes are too big for wrens but the yellow jackets love the bird houses. Did not do a lot other wise today but sure feel sore like I had.
MaryinMichigan, your flowers are beautiful and so are the strawberries. They look home grown. I looked at some in the store today but with yellow tops they did not look appealing. Oops wait, those flowers are Mary Birdwatcher's.
Carol, sure hope your fruit trees are okay. What a shame that would be to lose all the fruit! It is too late for freezing and snow!
Snow, you have had lower temps than we have but DGD, who, lives close to Linwood, always has worse weather than we do. DH said the other day that If I had a parachute, I would be covering the trees...he may be right.
I see Lair did not post so he must be having a good day! That is nice,. Happy for him.
