Good morning gang.
We are in for another HHH day here in Eastern Ontario. It is already about 80F and feels like 100F and that's at 7am. Hubby's foursome had an opening this morning but I turned down the chance of a game. I'll find something to do in the a/c.
Today I really must cook. There are veggies that need to be used so I shall find something that will go with potatoes and green beans. Maybe chicken or sausages on the BBQ.
Seems like we had a lot of traffic on here yesterday. Most of the regulars have made the change as well as several 'new to our thread' people which is great. The turkey dinner that Almonds fixed had my mouth watering, although I don't want that much work in this heat. Love reading about your travels Tammy. Are you going g to need to get a new rim? Lori, hope your new dryer arrives soon. Why would they try and get away with delivering a dented one is beyond me. Enjoy the new appliances.
When did the kids go back in your area Betsy? Here they are off until after Labour day.
Ann, the homemade Worcestershire sauce turned out really well. Tastes just a little sweeter that the stuff you buy, but I'm sure that could be adjusted if necessary.
I really need to get the show on the road here. Have a great day, folks.

Hello friends,
Bette, I am still getting the hang of this place and just realized your the administrator lol. Tasty, We are in for the same weather. We had thunderstorms here last night but I slept through it. I think another day at the pool is in order. I have plenty of chicken parm and pasta leftover so I think that's what we'll have. Not much else happening. Enjoy your day. Nancy

Hello and happy Friday! I was going to reply to Marlene's post on TOH but it kept telling me 'page can't be displayed". The guys got a lot of things done to her house yesterday. I missed reading the part where Lori's new dryer was dented. Really? They thought she would accept it that way? Hope they get a perfect one delivered quickly. Tasty, yes at some point we'll need a new rim. The place we were at had to order one so we did not have the time to wait. We are driving on the spare, so now we don't have a spare tire if anything should happen.
We both slept in and are moving slow today. I suppose we'll go somewhere but not sure where yet. Therefore, not sure about meals. I don't mind cooking but will need to go by the store.
It seems to be hot here, and slightly overcast.
I need to call a campground in Mass. We would like to stay there but it seems they only take rv's up to 38' and ours is 40. Make it a great day!

Dinner tonight will be Kapuzta (pork cubes, sausage, and sauerkraut). Tried a new to me/different recipe in my slow cooker--curious how DH will like it. Dessert will be salted caramel ice cream.
Unable to chat right now. Need to go over to Home Depot re: the dryer and washer. Yes, they tried to stick us with a dryer with a dent in the front panel Maybe they didn't think we'd check it over closely. They will replace it however, and in the mean time I am using the one with a dent. Love the dryer--clothes come out wrinkle-free (unlike my old Samsung front loader), but the washer...Lordy, it sounds like a meat-grinder! I've been told all these new energy efficient ones that "sense" how much water your load needs tend to me noisy. Really, why didn't they tell me that before I bought it!! Unfortunately, our laundry room is right off the kitchen so we hear everything. Not sure if we'll keep it, request a new one, or upgrade to something else. It's always something over here--never a dull moment!
Wishing everyone a beautiful day! Lori

Good luck with the washer Lori. You're right' there's always something.
I've changed my mind about supper. It's just too hot to cook a meal. Instead I'll do some ground beef and make taco salads instead.

Good morning all.
I think dinner will be sandwiches of some sort. I have to run to the store later so will decide what sounds good. Tasty, our kids went back to school three weeks ago. We are on a year round school schedule. Summer break was 6 weeks. We have a break coming up in about 4 weeks.
Lori, that is so awful they gave you a dented appliance. I don't know what the problem is with appliances but they do not last in our house. I have gone through 4 dishwashers in 14 years. Maddening.
Hope you all have a great weekend.
Betsy

It is raining now. We just got back form the grocery store. I decided on a chicken & biscuit bake for supper. It's a recipe from foodguy. I'll let you know what we think.

We had pizza and salads for supper. It's raining and thundering in the distance. Hope it continues.
I went to Trader Joe's today for a walk about. Hadn't been there for awhile and was surprised to see things in disarray with signs saying they're remodeling. I think they've only been here a few years so am curious to see what they'll do differently. Got good stuff, as usual. Love that place.
The Home Tech guy fixed my dishwasher this afternoon. Geesh, it's only six years old and already needed a new motor. Bought all new kitchen appliances at the same time and so far the icemaker on the fridge needed replaced and now the dishwasher. I assume the stove is next? :-S
I'm still plugging away on my book. Hope to finish this weekend. Sweet dreams.

Has hubby been watching the Olympic rugby 7s or the soccer, Helen?
I don't normally but hubby was watching the women's rugby the other day and I stopped to watch for a minute. It was great - only 15 minutes a side and FAST.

He's watching both, Tasty. Really loved the rugby. He also watched the Australia/U.S. basketball game the other nite. He enjoyed it even though Australia lost, but not by much! Thanks for asking.

Dinner here was sandwiches, oven fries, fresh corn on the cob, and fresh nectarines and raspberries, very simple but good.
Was planning to meet one of our daughters for lunch and some mall browsing but they issued flash flood warnings this morning for most of the day so we changed our plans as my drive time would be 45 minutes. Fortunately no flooding here, just a nice steady all day pleasant and much needed rain. Spent some time just sitting on the porch and enjoying it.
Lori-Dented dryer upon arrival, that's sad. Wonder if it happened during delivery or if it left the store that way. I agree about the energy efficient appliances, just not the same.
Tasty-That taco salad sounds mighty good and a great way to use fresh produce.
Tamaralynn-Sleeping in can be good sometimes.
Helen-Yes, Trader Joe's is a fun place to visit, always something different there, always busy there also.
Sorry I always find this board in the evening. I'm afraid if I go to the computer earlier in the day I'll spend too much time here so I always wait, then it's like a reward for accomplishing things.

Hi folks, I am new to the cooking thread but was on the old TOH chat site several years ago when they decided to make it into several boards and it went downhill. I have spurts where I like to cook and days when I hate it. Came home today after picking up the van from the repair shop and decided on the way to make cookies since it was cooler today. Don't get excited---they were pkts in a box from Sam's Club that I did not use up for Christmas. Sugar cookies and they are all baked and will go in the freezer. I rolled some in cinnamon and sugar so they were like Snickerdoodles. Made room in the cupboard!

Hi again, we went swimming again today as its so hot. I really wish the pool was opened on weekends in September as its still so hot at that time. Welcome to our new friends, so nice to meet everyone. Lori, appliances are a big investment so no need to keep a damaged one. After reheating leftovers tonight we went to Rita's for Italian Ice. Good night. Nancy
