Good morning. I'm early, as I have to be at work at 7 am. Got changed from afternoon, as I don't have to take the cashier training. Hooray!!!
It has really been hot here the last several days. Got a really good rain last night, so maybe it will be cooler now. We hit 99 yesterday. Didn't have to water. Lots of thunder and lightning, too.
Car is doing great. Still haven't figured out all the buttons and things, but the ones I need work, so that is all I care. Will be going to pay for it next week. That will be a great feeling. Sales tax and license plates, too.
Well, going to finish getting ready. Have a great day.

Good Morning Leroy and all. Its 75* and the air is so thick you need a knife to cut thru. It is to be a little cooler today only 87* with rain, I will believe it when I see it, don't look like we will get it according to the radar. No big plans for today, just so darn tired of being in the house. The inside should be spotless but its not. I do the everyday thing, just no deep cleaning. Deep cleaning is for the cooler weather in the fall and winter. I can always keep busy doing booth stuff. Yesterday I did get the mud room cleaned, hauled the hose thru the garage and sprayed down both doors, so dirty, well after drying didn't look a lot better, today I guess I will use a rag and wipe them down, but at least the spider webs are gone. We don't use those doors very often. I also pulled very few weeds, just so darn dry, watered in the evening and that was about it.
Leroy, Ya I don't think I would want to be a cashier. We pay sales tax and license as soon as we get the new car, don't drive out of the car lot without doing that. Have a good day at work
Gkids Did you get any rain? Yes it does take a while to learn to use windows 10, we had Best Buy set it up, then we went from there, not easy, still learning.
Lair, Good job in staying in the house. Here is my story, after first hip replacement, Ray had to go somewhere, I told him to go, I would be OK, well "don't go downstairs", no need too I said. Well I got bored upstairs, and went down the 6 steps, I did OK, but I never promised him I would stay upstairs. He never knew.
Mary, Be careful with those bee's. Glad you got some rain and could pull those darn weeds. Are your birds eating a lot. I can't keep my feeders full.
Snow, Boy your MIL has a mind of her own and that is good. But she should listen to the Dr.
Mary in Mi. I do hope you got lots of sleep last night. Have a safe trip today.
Well I guess that's it, need to get outside and see what I can do. Have a great day and stay cool.
Carol

Good Morning everyone, it is overcast and 74* this morning. We didn't get the inches of rain that everyone else got around the state but we did get almost an inch. Everything looks wet and dripping with that wonderful moisture. I'll have to go out and see if it is too wet to weed but I may wait because they say we may get sprinkles later this morning. I had a strange night if you call it that. I went to bed late last night and while I was dozing off I thought I had left a light on in the other room. I got up to shut it off and..... it was morning. There was no light on, it was daylight and I looked at the clock and it was 6:45. Never had a night uneventful or go so fast.
Leroy. glad your car is working and I hope you figure out all the buttons. Right after I got my car I ended up by the side of the road reading my book to find windshield wipers. I could turn them on but they wouldn't stay on. I felt pretty stupid to find out it was a knob. Glad your job is working out well.
Carol, again, so glad to see you here. I think you are having the same trouble with your avatar as I did. I worked on it but never clicked on save changes. There are several posts on posting pictures. I couldn't get it at first because I kept forgetting one step. Just wait because I will forget it again today. Not sure but I think I have a memory problem. Not sure if someone else said it or it was me.
Grace, are you in the area that got lots of rain last night? I hope things are OK where you are. I wish I could help you with the siggie thing. I had so many problems I just turned it over to my sister. I have wanted one for a long time but never got it figured out. There were a couple post telling how to do it. I didn't have much luck with those with my dyslexia. Gkids3, what is your name and where are you from? I just got a new laptop for Christmas. I am getting along with it but only use it to get on the board and read or google things. I got a Toshiba and it has nothing on it. If I want word I have to buy an app, If I want pictures, I have to buy an app, etc. As far as typing goes, it is just a little smaller than what I am used to and the keys are flat. I can type a little but it is hunt and peck, takes forever. If I want to get anything done quickly I have to get back on my old Dell with vista. Mary in MI, I hope you have a safe trip to Ft Wayne today. So sorry you have to go through all this stuff at the same time. Glad Jill made it home ok and all is well there in Big Thompson canyon. Let us know when you get home. Angela, good you got your house back. Always good to have someone come but also good to see them go. I need to go through the fridge and clean out left overs too. Tim saves everything and doesn't eat leftovers. Well most leftovers. Last night I warmed up the stir fry leftovers. I started eating it and realized he had picked all the shrimp out and all I had was veggies and rice. Can't say anything, at least he ate something.
Mary bwatcher, I would think you would be running out of weeds by now. You sure have been giving them a run for the money. Wish I had your ambition but I get sweat in my eyes too. Sometimes it pools up in my glasses when I am looking down too long. That's when I have to come in to clean them, by the time I get back out there are new weeds growing. Oh poor me.
Snow, glad to see you on the board. We did bomb the house a six years ago. It didn't work because we had such high ceilings everything just drifted up. Turned out to be a waste of a lot of money. I am using D earth and the vacuum on the house. I am using a front line thing on the kitties. Not the same but a different brand but it only works for 2 weeks. they don't mind it like the frontline. My you sure have your hands full with MIL. Can she be left alone? Sounds like she could do a lot of damage to herself.
Jan, good luck with Allen's treatment today. I hope it goes well. Tim has started to lose hair or it looks that way in the shower. What happened on your job interview? Did you gt a lot of rain last night? I see on radar you got the first part of the that skipped over us.
Well, that's all I can remember right now. Just HI to Sandy, Janet, Alma and everyone else I forgot. You all have a good day..

Good Morning. We got some rain last night, along with a sound and light show to go along with it, but we did get 2" of rain so that was great. It's supposed to rain(and is doing so now) off and on all day. Will take all we can get. Maybe the ground will be soft enough that later today if it stays cloudy or tomorrow I can try and plant the tiger lilies that ds brought over last night. The temps are supposed to be in the low to mid 80's for the rest of the week and even into next week. I'll take that. Hopefully some of this humidity will leave as well. After work yesterday ds stopped with the lilies and then helped me set up the laptop. It does have 10 on it but being my "geek" guy he also put the 7 format I'm more used to on it so I can play with both. Boy I think my brain was in overload when we got done. I'm thinking this brain is getting too old for all these changes, but will survive and march on. :D
Carol you're braver then I was about doing steps after your surgery. We have a ranch so didn't have to worry about going up or down for living day to day but do have a basement that I keep extra stuff in and my laundry is down there. I had major surgery the end of January and dh was doing the laundry and getting things I needed from down there. Well, he'd be asking a hundred ?'s about the laundry and where was this, etc.....get the gist. Finally one day I said I'm going down, just follow me down so you can pick me up if I fall....LOL. Got down great, felt good but oh what a mess I had down there, hubby is great but not too good at putting things away. Now getting back up was another thing but I did it and have been doing it ever since.
Mary in MI have a safe trip today.
Morning Leroy, Lair and Snow.
Have a marvelous day everyone.

Morning everyone! Another coolish day around 70° but apparently we will warm up,again. We got a 1/2" of rain yesterday. Surprisingly that was all as some of the downpours were quite outstanding. As my daughter & I were driving the 5 miles to the highway we were in such a downpour that we actually had to pull over till it ended. Luckily it didn't last very long but it was quite something. Hadn't been out in anything like that for some time! Ok, I lead a pretty sheltered life! LOL Talk about heavy black clouds seemingly all the way down to the horizon.
Sorry I haven't gotten the hang of responding to each & everyone of you. Do love reading your day to day experiences. Hope Mary from MI has a safe trip today. She'll be exhausted by the time she is back home.
Snow your Mil must be such a worry for you. I too wonder if she is safe by herself & no doubt you are wondering the same. She sure is fortunate to have you caring for her along with everything else you do.
Wishing Tim & Allen a good day as they have their treatments. It will be wonderful when they are done with though that won't be for awhile yet I am thinking.
My daughter took me out to a movie last night where we met up with my gdaughter Brianne. She was a bit late as she had to finish her shift at the hospital where she is just starting her first nursing job since graduation. As for the movie, it was so so. The lines must have been easy to learn as every second word was the f bomb! LOL Anyhow, not Academy Award quality but an outing with a few laughs! Saved us a few calories by dumping our treat on the floor! Better watch or they'll by leaving old GMa at home! 😊
See you later. Just mustn't spend all day online like I did yesterday though it is tempting.

Hi all I be missing a coupe of days. Allen has been doing good -- no nausua or anything so far. Today was his 2nd round of chemo and only took 45 minutes. Yesterday was his radiation and he had to take a steroid beforehand & it was 10 small pills--they tastes horrible but he had 2 peanut butter cookies to wash them down with before we went in. No after effects again & so far none today. He is off now until the 26th.
My job interview was short but it was just a sort of get to verify what I know. So we shall see. I was home about an hour & one of the tem services called if they would send in my resume & here it was the same job. So hopefully all goes well. Our middle daughter interviewed for a job Wednesday also & she got hired so she is now a permenant government employee. JM also had an interview but haven't heard if he got it or not.
We had just a bit over and inch of rain from last night's rains. I haven't checked if we accumulated any more today. It looks like from the radar there are showers still out there.
Well that is it for me today--you all take care-- Jan

Good afternoon Everyone, I swear, either I'm blind or those weeds grew up overnight. I went out to get the mail, and picked up a food bag that had blown into the yard. I picked it up and there it was, a plantain plant (weed) right beside the bag. Then as I walked back to go in the front door there in the dirt I just put down the day before was another one. It rained last night so it came right out; they come out pretty easy anyway at this time of year. I decided I was going to take a walk down the sidewalk with my bag and two weeds and inspect the flower bed on my way. I didn't walk 10 steps and there was another weed, and then I found 6 MORE. I pulled them all and watched for more as I walked down the sidewalk. I have a garbage can full and a 5 gal. bucket of stuff I need to haul away. It never ends!!! I swear the quackgrass comes back where all the weeds I pulled out this spring were.
Lair, If I sprayed my lawn for weeds, to get the clover and creeping charlie, there would be very little actual lawn grass left. If I could get rid of the creeping charlie I would be a very happy woman and the clover could stay. The honey bees like that. We discovered our cat had fleas the day we put her to sleep; I felt so bad about that. We had flea bites on our ankles but didn't realize what was going on until we saw them on the cat. In the last 4 years this cat never went outside at all; she was blind. Sadly, I brought the fleas into the house when I brought some potted flowers in. I think they got in the plants from the squirrels crawling through the pots. I have light colored linoleum so we could see them hopping around. We used masking tape rolled in a circle to catch them with and then squish them. That was also the same time I got my new Shark vacuum cleaner with the good suction and all the extra attachments. They hid out along the wall on the floor line. It took two months before we were finally rid of them. I never sprayed. I researched and a flea will only live 10 days if they don't eat. If they have a blood source then they can live 30 days plus lay more eggs. Well us and the cat were the food source. I had put the cat to sleep that day, so there was only one food source left, US. We used a flashlight to stalk them with tape. It took 60 days before we found none. It was just constant vacuuming of the carpet and chairs in the living room. They never got in the carpet up the stairway or the upstairs carpet, but I did have them in the basement where I had also moved in some flowers. ALL FLOWERS that came from outside went back outside and never came back in when it froze. I haven't seen any fleas at all this year. I also got rid of 10 squirrels, so that probably helped also.
Leroy, I bet you will really like mornings. When you get off work the rest of the day will be your own. I know about all the buttons and such. I can't believe they didn't show you how to use these things, but I guess because you didn't buy it brand new they didn't offer to do that. I had them show me everything but I still don't know how to use some of it properly. I was going down the road one NIGHT and touched something that shut off my running lights. Scared the crap out of me for sure!!! I have a computer screen on my dash that shows what's behind me when I'm backing up. It beeps at me when I get too close to anything. It scared the crap out of me when it warned be about a little kid that walked behind my car that I never saw. I could have backed right over them.
Carol, Those bees were at least 20' above me. I checked yesterday afternoon and didn't see any of them, so maybe they finally got the eviction notice.
Gkids, I don't think I ever saw you on the boards. I mostly stayed in the Midwest.
Snow, If your MIL is taking that cast off then she probably won't leave a solid cast alone either. We had a lady like that and they had to end up covering it up with a sock and then put long sleeves over top the sock so she couldn't find the top of the sock. She sounds like she may be dealing with a little confusion.
MaryinMi, I'm thinking about you and wish you safe travels and prayers of peace for you and your family.
Grace, Glad you didn't get hammered with rain. I think we maybe got a half inch.
Angela, It was nice to hear that you got to go out and have a little fun with the girls.
Jan, I hope things are going okay for Allen and you.
I saw Alma posted on the old board.
It's DD's birthday on Monday, so we will be going down and spending the weekend. She took Mon. and Tues. off, so we're going to go to the state fair on Monday. Her BF will be working most of that day, so we will keep her busy. I guess we're going to the Botanical Garden tom. afternoon while Jerry does his woodworking shopping. Sunday she wants to go look at cars. She needs a new one. We'll come home Tuesday morning.
Well, I need to get some laundry done and see about other stuff. Chat at ya later. At least I know I can get here from my phone if I have to.

Lair, that made me laugh. Our van is in the shop and I drove the Jeep to the garden club pot luck the Tuesday evening. We seldom go out at night so did not think to look where the light switch was. My friend stayed with me until I finally found it on the end of a lever on the steering column. I had wipers running front and back and could make the lights come on but they went off when I let go of the lever. Felt like a 'bloomin' idiot'. I seldom drive the Jeep and it shows.
