Unstuffed Cabbage Roll Casserole-annrms 1+ pound ground chuck (I use ground turkey) 6 hot sausage casings removed (6 hot turkey sausages) 1 chopped onion 8 cups cabbage, chopped ½ cup water 1 (28oz) Can crushed tomatoes 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 tablespoon white vinegar ½ teaspoon Salt 1½ teaspoon caraway seed (I use powdered caraway from Penzeys.com) 1 teaspoon granulated garlic or 4 cloves, minced Brown the meat and drain. Add cabbage, onion, and water. Cover and cook until cabbage starts to wilt. Add tomatoes, brown sugar, vinegar, salt caraway seeds and garlic. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer until desired doneness. Mix in meat. Reheat. Serve with pierogi or brown rice.
