Good morning.
I am leaving in a minute to take our girls to school. After that will walk the dogs. I think I will go to the office for bit to finish a project.
My mom and my daughter and I used Face time yesterday. My mom doesn't have a cell phone or Ipad so she was thrilled to be able to use my daughter's so we could chat that way. It was funny, too.
I think I will make pizza tonight. We have some football to watch. Preseason but it will have to do.
Are any of you posting at the Kitchen Table board? I am confused about the talk about the board. I can't get logged in to that board. It says it is private.
Have a great day.
Betsy

Betsy, I haven't tried the kitchen table board. I see a message from the administrator asking if we want our own cooking board. I think that would work and hopefully we can use the same name What's Cookin'? My home computer was repaired yesterday so now it will be easier for me to check out the boards and figure out the bells and whistles here rather than using my tablet.

Nancy,
Okay. I got approved once for that Kitchen table board but cannot get logged into it. It still says it's private. I asked for an approval again but didn't get one. Thank you.

Nancy, it would be a generic cooking title for the new board. Your thread each day could be called what's cooking with the date in the title of the thread if you like. It could be done just like the VIP in the morning and the Evening Chit Chat. Hope that makes sense.

Redsoxmom unfortunately you need to contact someone like Beema or anyother member and let them know you want to be part of the Kitchen Table Friends and they will tell you what you need to do in the registration form to be accepted.

Hello there friends! I too signed up for the Kitchen Table maybe a week ago or better. At that time I got a message basically saying I wasn't an official member until accepted by the administrator, which was forthcoming. I'm still waiting, but honestly not sure that is where I want to be any more. I like the idea Bett has proposed and feel it would be quite successful.
Dinner tonight will be a taco salad. Since I have my new washer and dryer being delivered between 3--7 PM, I wanted something easy today. Plan to have everything done and ready by 3, then just reheat meat and assemble when DH and I are ready to sit down.
Yesterday was hot. Temperature only got to 92*, but the feel like was 110*. After heavy rains for 5 days, believe me when I say it was a steam bath out there! For those of you that were on the old What's Cookin' forum, you might remember me saying I refuse to turn on the oven until it cooled down some. Yes, I have A/C and over-head fans, but the oven still heats up the house, so it's been stove-top meals, slow cooker meals, and lots of salads. Three weeks have gone by, and instead of 98* and feel like days of 116*-120*, forecasters say we are now back to more normal temperatures for Florida in August. Long story short---due to DH volunteering for me to bake cookies for his work, I will be turning on the oven. When I asked him why now he said, "it has cooled down." Yea, sure...I'll try to think cool thoughts every time I take a tray of cookies out of the oven.

Nancy NJ - just want to let you know I made your pizza pasta salad for the condo potluck last evening. A big hit! Thanks again for the suggestion. It will become a staple!

Tonight I think I will grill out hamburgers. Mine will be full of chopped onion when I grill it. I love that in a hamburger rather than just plain. Get hungry for such things as that and remember my mother fixing them that way in frypan on stove and I always liked them. In the winter I use my George Forman grill for cooking burgers, chops. It works good and cooks fast. I will fix the other burgers plain for DH and DS. DH tells me he likes them that way.......if so, it is a first he's told me that in almost 50 yrs. of married life.
Now what to go with it, I don't know but maybe some Stouffer's mac/cheese, and a bag of broccoli-wokly in the microwave for the veggie.

On the subject of the "kitchen table friends".
I hope what I am about to say doesn't upset anyone but here goes:
Some of the cooking for 2 posters wanted privacy. We are a very small, close group and these days there is very little 'cooking' talk. Some want to be able to talk, nicely, about family and friends, be able to mention people by name and don't feel comfortable doing so publicly. Email was suggested but that is far too cumbersome.
I am a member of that small private group and will continue to chat with these friends. However, for someone looking for recipes for a small family or even an individual, I think a better option would be have a thread or a forum within a cooking 'home' on the gardeners shed.
Personally, I feel this is where the readers group should be meeting too.
As I said, I hope I'm not treading on anyone's toes but requests are being made to join the kitchen table and I'm not sure that this will give some of these requestees what they are looking for.

Good Thursday, friends! I opened a can of worms when I suggested that Kitchen Table would be an alternate site for all to post; I was wrong. So sorry. This site is just the place to be for talking about food and recipes...enough said. It's the hottest, muggiest day of the summer so far...heat index is 107. I did go to the senior center and did the 2 mile walk, but now I'm staying put. Have a glass of iced coffee, and I'm just sipping. Tasty - Thanks for starting us out. Good luck with your canning club...homemade Worcestershire sauce? Sounds interesting. Growing up we'd have a dinner called "Scrambled hamburger and rice". I was in charge of making the special rice...I added Worcestershire sauce to the water when making the instant rice. Still love it to this day!!!! Last night's Garden Fresh Seafood Cocktail was outstanding! We had bigger portions as a main dish, but it was light and refreshing. Nancy - Did you see that I got to Trader Joe's? Found those scallion pancakes...the picture on the bag is good enough to eat!!!! LOL We could dive right in here and forget TOH since it abandoned us!!! Lori - Dear wife!!! This link for making cookies in the microwave is interesting! I won't be trying it because we don't eat many sweets. You certainly had a good run of not turning on the oven! I have a big toaster oven that I use a lot in the summer. Tammy - Wonderful pictures on TOH; thanks for posting. I'm glad you mentioned it here or I would never have checked the old site. When we visited Cape Breton on our honeymoon(42 years ago...yikes!) we stayed at a KOA; beautiful. Chris - Is it as hot in VT as it is here? Hope Marlene makes it over here; do you think she needs help? Tonight we are having Beefy Taco Bean pie; had two servings in the freezer. Waving to all!

Ann, I have been trying to help Marlene cross over! She did get to the activation page last night. So, possibly by now she has finished the registering. Of course, she is pretty tied up with her workers & cooking meals for them. Hopefully she will make it here soon.

Hi all,
I read the post on TOH "What are you Reading" today. After reading the thread I realize what the issue is and why I can't get it. I don't want to be part of that drama so will try to revoke my request to become a member. Thank you all for being so welcoming here. Enough said....
