I decided to start this this morning since I am up so early. I woke early and just could not get back to sleep so decided to nap later if I need to. It is 43* with no wind. Not sure if it is clear or cloudy but when the sun comes up I will know more. Yesterday was a good day. I watched a few movies but mostly did little chores around the house. I blew all the leaves off the porches and away from the GH doors. I did water all the plants in the Gh so that took a couple hours. I think I have done the best job on controlling the amount I have in there. I did see I have a real mess out in the one bed. I have a 10 foot step ladder with bird houses on it and covered with Hyacinth beans and sweet peas. This year I planted a Castor bean under it and it grew higher than the ladder. Well, I see the legs must have rotted off and it fell over on the butterfly bushes. Everything is all twisted together and will have to be cut out. I don't think the ladder can be saved so I will need to find another ladder or something to hold several birdhouses. Any suggestions?
Today should be nice according to the weather man but we might get a frost on Wed. night. I guess I will get out and collect some seeds today. Maybe pull the pump out of the pond for the season. Carol, glad you are getting things dug out. I moved several cone flowers and dug 6 Hibiscus but the gal that wanted them never showed up to get them. I never use an alarm unless I have an early appointment for something. I try not to do that so, no alarm. Mary Bwatcher, you can bash Obamacare if you want but this is called greed and has been around centuries before earlier. They used to call it "supply and demand" but it is just greed. Alice, do you live close to your Gkids? Except for me my family lives close to where my parents lived. Now the GGK's are all over the country. Leroy, you sure have been busy with your job and the quilts. I would imagine you have made a lot of people very happy. Gkids, I am not a big fan of cooked apples. I do like to eat them but not if they are too crisp. I like them soft and sweet. Sara, This getting old is not for the weak is it? Angela, How did your test go? I hope you are done with that for a while. Jan, good luck with Allen's treatments. This is the first week, right?
Well, My cats are telling me it is time to eat so I will have to do that and maybe check back. You all have a great day! Later

Good Morning, Its a little cloudy but its to be a nice day with the high of 62*Yesterday was a beautiful day to be working outside, it was windy and cool just right for pulling and digging plants out of the ground. I'm not sure how many plants I got out but it looks so much better. Ray was a little up set with me as he likes the jungle look, plants everywhere. He got over it. I think I also replanted 4 plants, 2 coneflowers and 2 columbine. I also did some bearded tongue up for Michelle and her co worker. I want to plant some BES in the circle in the front. The deer like them, but I don't think I have as many deer around. I was very busy yesterday and feel so good about getting so many things done, still have lots of things to do. Next on the list is move 2 hostas, as the gas tank is being moved so want them out of the way.
Today will be gone most of the day, first I'm taking somethings over to Loir's. Then coming home take a shower and get ready for a funeral for a dear friend, not sure what time we will get home and I'm sure I won't do much. I know I haven't told you this but a big sale coming up at the booth, its called "Midnight madness" so it will be late in the evening. We also are getting things around for a craft show on the 22. Glad their is a week in between. I know we will be busy but its all so much fun. Ray has been working hard in the pole barn getting his crafts done.
Well I need to get busy, have a great day. Thanks for the coffee Lair, its a little weak I like strong coffee, LOL.

Good Morning All. The sun is out nice and bright and temps to be a tad bit warmer than yesterday with low being 50° and high being 68°. Probably normal for Indiana this time of year. At least it isn't raining - we have had a very wet summer - of course that isn't kind to my shoulders (bone on bone). My surgeon does not recommend shoulder surgery so I have to deal with it. I have had both knees replaced - one surgery (1995) and hip surgery 2014 (and eye surgery in both eyes in between). I prefer not to do any more surgery. Enough already!!! Bloomingguy: most of my family lives fairly close (all in Indiana) except for my middle child - her husband took a job in TN at Saturn when Allison was going through some problems - when their DD was 15 going on 16 (and ruined her life not "her words" not mine) - she ended up marrying a Deputy Sheriff - so I have 2 g'grandkids in TN) and left their son here as he was in a Trade school (he ended up with a girlfriend here). He moved to TN but ended up coming back to his "now" wife (and they have my 2 oldest g'gsons). Maybe that is more than you wanted to know!! :) I have 4 daughters and 1 son. And each family has 2 or 3 children and then there are the children of those children and "Oh, how does your family grow". I rest my case!! Have a great day! I hope the sun shines on your parade all day!! CUL

Morning, all
Carol, I have some of the jungle look, too-but not because I want it! I am full of arthritis meds today and ready to go out and cut down at least part of it. I take meloxicam, and just love the fact that they will give it to you, and then tell you to try not to take it because it's bad for you. I should go look up the remedy Mary posted about.
Lair, I have to agree about the greed. I probably am sensitive to that because I just got the notice yesterday about the increase in my BCBS premiums!
I have to say that fried apples are my favorite, and I like them on the sweet side, too.
Geema, my two kids both live out of state. Wish they were closer. My daughter and SIL are both pharmacists and the son is a hedge fund manager with Cargill in Houston. When they come home they are convinced they are in the wilderness.
I'm off to tackle the big sunflower patch-enjoy your day
Yesterday was the whole town garage sale, and I didn't bring home a single piece of glassware. The world is surely ending.

Morning all,
Lair - my suggestion would be maybe getting a metal ladder? My hubby made me a "trellis" and on the second trellis he made (first one didn't stand up) he used re-rod which my trumpet vine has all covered up now but it is sure holding up good. You have cats? My kind of guy!! mine are all outside but I sure love 'em.
Sure a nice cool day here. But that means cold and snow is that much closer and I sure hate Winter. John and I just took air conditioner out of bedroom winter, won't be needing that any longer this season. Who ever you favor, debate tonight should be interesting. Have a nice Sunday all

Hi Everyone, I posted 2 pictures of my SIL's dad and his mini steam engine and baler yesterday. It was an absolutely gorgeous day yesterday to have the Heritage Fest. The fest seemed small but some of the lines for food were really long. They sell root beer in what looks like brown beer bottles but the caps are the manual snap on like in canning jars. I even saw one guy that was just coming when we were leaving with his big jug in hand to apparently get refilled. We walked around and when we came across no line to the kettle corn we bought a bag. It was still warm and wasn't even hard yet. We got ice cream also. There were lots of venders selling home made pastries, soaps, apples, fry bread. I didn't see the guy with the dried meats this year. We would have bought some of that; he had really good buffalo jerky and sausage. There was an onsite Teepee. We watched the blacksmith pounding his hot mets. The lady that does tatting was there and she graciously slowly showed me how to do the shuttle tatting. I might just have to resurrect my tatting stuff and relearn how to do that. I tried to watch the youtube videos for the shuttle tatting and they just went way too fast for me. I saw the ladies weaving baskets, and the ladies using spinnin wheels. We watched Keith make the little tiny bale of straw to sell for $1, but there was also a guy there on the opposite side of the area that was making the bigger bales of straw. His bales were $3 and probably 12"x10"x20"?. He didn't use an authentic wheeled steam engine like Keith built, but his was a small steam powered engine. They have an actual train car and caboose, so the kids were all climbing through that having a great time. We didn't walk up to the actual caged animal park to see the animals. It would be the same thing as last year, and the exhibits in their park building are behind glass displays, so they never change either. We did some back roading to come home. Lots of fields being harvested. I saw by brother out with the combine, so couldn't stop to talk. He's too busy right now. It was just a fun day out.
Well, I gotta get ready for church, talk at ya later.

Good morning to one and all. Lair I was up at 3:30 because I couldn't sleep, so I definitely feel a nap coming on this afternoon. I'm thinking about cooking either pork chops or fried chicken today, but will wait and see if that happens or not. It is sunny out and suppose to get to 70, right now it is 49 out. I don't have any plans to do anything called work today, just enjoy the day as it comes. I hope everyone will have a good restful Sunday.

Good morning. The sun is shining, and must be in the 50's by now. I've been out doing a little yard work this morning. Yesterday, I cut the sunflowers down. Had to use the saw, as the stems were so big and hard, I couldn't get the pruners around them. I laid them out on the ground and measured them. One was about 15 feet long, and one was about 14 feet. The others were shorter. Got them all cut up and tied in a bundle for Thursday pickup. I reset my big vase in the corner of the yard, so it can be seen again. I've had it almost 20 years already. It's holding up really well. Had a couple little pieces chip off the bottom, but otherwise, looks good yet. Pulled the 4 o'clocks out of the bed under the Japanese Maple and got them sacked up. They were all volunteers, but they were pretty again this year.
The neighbor's house was egged last night. I was up about 12:30, and saw taillights going by really slow, so I went to the next room to see better. It had stopped, so I went to the door and opened the inside one. I heard the car door shut, and it drove away without turning the lights on right away. The neighbor was out washing the house, so I went over, and he told me it had been egged. They do have a boy in high school, so imagine it was someone from school. I told him what color the van was, so the son may know who it was.
Guess I will go see what else I can get in to. Have a good day.

Hi All, We're home from church and dinner. Our choir does the newer contemporary version of 'Amazing Grace' and it actually brought some tears to my eyes. I was thinking about the 5 people who I know that have passed just this past week. When we left church I ask DH is he wanted to go to Sandy's for dinner. He asked, "Are you buying?" I said, "Yes." I put money in my purse just in case I got this response. 10 steps ahead of you Mister! LOL It was the most amazing chicken and dressing I've eaten in quite awhile. I used to work there so I know that all the end crusts from the loaves of bread are used to make the dressing. OMG, that dressing was so good!
Lair, The government has forced people to take out insurance or be penalized at tax time, but they do nothing to protect ANYONE from the price gouging that goes on. If that was a wooden ladder, can you cut the rotten part of the legs off?
Carol, I hope you have a nice day out despite spending part of it at a funeral home.
Alice, I'm glad you have a lot of family to keep you going. I love hearing stories about family and extended family.
Leroy, Did you yell, "TIMBER" when you cut down those sunflowers? LOL I hope they find out who did the egging, but unless you have concrete proof there isn't anything that will be done. Yup, Halloween is just around the corner and I know there will be some of this go on around here. It does every year. That's why I never buy pumpkins. They end up smashed out in the street in front of your own home. Brats!!!
Kay, Is your increase for BCBS the regular yearly raise increase or a huge increase like the Obamacare people here in Iowa are getting hit with?My insurance man told me that I will be getting the normal 1-2% yearly BCBS raise in January. Luckily, I'm not getting the 42% hike like the Obamacare policy people. I (TG!) actually took out my own new insurance policy with BCBS about a month before I quit at the nursing home so I still had an active insurance card. The insurance man told me that if I hadn't had an active insurance policy/card he couldn't have sold me insurance. I would have been forced to do Obamacare. Wow, I dodged that bullet! (I think?) Who knows, I might have still ended up paying what I'm paying now.
Janet, Did all the flood water disappear and things dry out again?
Sara, You're gonna need a nap for sure. I've had my share of those kinds of nights.
DH mentioned going to LaCrosse so I may try to find a crochet hook to do the T shirt yarn.
