PRALINE BREAD PUDDING-Tammy 18 slices French bread 2 c. sugar 2 sticks butter or margarine 1 qt heavy cream 2 c.whole milk 1 t. vanilla 1 t. ground cinnamon 1 t. ground nutmeg Sauce: 2 c. sugar 6 eggs 1 c. heavy cream 1 stick butter or margarine 1 t. vanilla pinch salt 1 c. chopped pecans
Break bread into chunks in a 9 x 13 baking dish. In a bowl, beat sugar with eggs. Add cream, milk, 1 stick melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Pour over bread. Let mixture soak into bread. Bake 45 - 60 minutes at 350*. Melt other stick of butter and pour over pudding as soon as it comes out of the oven. To make the sauce, combine sugar, cream, butter and salt in a saucepan. Cook to the soft ball stage. Remove from heat and add vanilla and nuts. Pour over pudding.
