Good morning! Spring warmth is back! Yesterday's high temp was 73°. Right now it's 60° and mostly clear. Not good news about Harlan, IA. Saying prayers for Marlene. I sure do miss the folks who left us. www.kare11.com/video/weather/watch-tornadoes-in-harlan-iowa/89-02df9e6f-6951-4523-bff9-84b7de375195Supper was great last night especially since I just had to heat it up! Tonight we are having 'bangers and mash' with the leftover mashed potatoes and harvest vegetables with andouille sausage and roasted vegetables. Will go to walkaerobics this morning and come home and do more stuff for the move. Enjoy your day! Hope to get back to sit and chat later. Waving!

Good morning Ann and all who get here later. I just saw the post from Doris on yesterday's thread. So much damage - we can only hope that Marlene is OK. Would love to hear from her. Yesterday morning was so beautiful here but by afternoon it was cloudy and windy. We did golf. I played 9 before I quit. It was still dry at that point but hubby was rained out after a few more holes. Our friends that we were meeting for supper had a similar experience so we all met up in the club house for a quick meal and then headed home. I was really tired so was in bed by 8.30. Hence why I'm up so early! This morning a new drum is coming for the dryer. At less than a year old the lining in it has split - not very impressive. No problem getting it fixed but . . . Other than that, I have lots I can stay busy with. Have a marvelous Monday.

Good morning friends.
Ann- thank you for the news clip. I sure do hpe Marlene is okay. I will email her too.
Tasty- Glad you stayed dry yesterday. It rained her with a down pour for just a short time. Sorry to hear the dryer didn't last. I have had my set since 2006 and still working just fine. So far.
I will be headed to Castleton to pick up DGD for a Dr appointment later today. May go ealy and stop at JoAnn's fabric. The Rutland store will be closing soon so we will no longer have JoAnns as they are going bankrupt. So sad.

Good morning. I also emailed Marlene. I have been tracking the storm where it went through Harlan. The said it was about the width of 3 football fields. By following the highways that it crossed as it went through Harlan it doesn't appear that she was in the path but it was close and I am sure she got hit with the outer winds. We can only hope that all is well. Need to get ready for work. Should have been on the road by now.
Have a great day.

Good morning everyone. Ann, moving day is getting closer. Good you didn’t have to spend too much time in the kitchen, more time to pack. I must say, I remember that I welcomed the breaks I took from packing though. Sure do hope Marlene is ok. I too, miss her posts. Have never seen a tornado hereabouts. You never know what’s going to happen with the way the weather has changed these last few years. Tasty, at least you got 9 holes in before the rain. Rain forecast here but haven’t seen any sign of it yet. They sure don’t make things to last like they used to, do they? Hope the dryer was under warranty. Chris, enjoy your time with your DGD. We don’t see ours as often as we’d like to. Sorry about your fabric store. Lots of bankruptcies happening here too. Bet, hope you hear from Marlene. Hope work goes smoothly for you today, and you get home at a decent time. Not much going on here today. Will do a towel wash, then laundry is all caught up. Maybe some dusting. Pork chops for supper tonight, with some mushroom sauce, (from freezer). Jan

Good morning. Thanks for the info on Harlan Iowa. Prayers for all. Such devastation.
Got up early this morning with too much on my mind. Mandy and I were quick getting out and back. I've finished my coffee and took the golf cart tires out of my car and put them in the shed. Why I didn't put them in there in the first place is beyond me. Guess I'm still thinking that it is Marks shed. Then in about half an hour I have someone coming to check and fix my HVAC. At times the ac doesn't always kick in, just the fan. I'm going to ask him to put in a plain and simple thermostat too, if he will/can. I also have the grief support group, hopefully I won't be too late. I also have to call the tire shop and see when they can get my golf cart in to put on the new tires. Busy morning. Afternoon will be quiet and hopefully a nap will happen. I woke up at 5 and couldn't fall back to sleep. Grrrrrr
There are cinnamon rolls and fresh strawberries by the coffee pot, help yourself. I'll worry about meals later.......

Good Morning ! Glad everyone had a good weekend. I have not posted in a few days, nothing much going on. Friday I worked then we went out to eat Mexican food with DH's employee's. It was a limited menu so I did not get the chicken sour cream enchiladas, but had a taco salad and it was very good. Saturday I worked, and did beef tips in the Instant Pot for supper. Sunday was church, then we served the bbq beef sandwiches. There were only 95 in church, so it was not a full church at all. We had plenty of leftover chopped beef, so I left it there and will let them serve bbq beef sandwiches to the homeless on Tuesday. I'm going to buy potato salad, and I am thinking of just buying cookie dough and baking cookies for dessert. I usually go to town Monday mornings and do shopping but since I don't have that much to get I may wait until afternoon. We had bad storms come through at @;30. We lost power at 2:50. I tried to go back to sleep but didn't. DH woke up at 4 and nudged me, and told me the power was off. I was still awake so told him at had been off over an hour. We both did fall back asleep, he got up around 6 and went to work. The power came back on at 7. Yay-I was able to make coffee!! We have been getting notices on the phone and text about a lot of flooding here in the county. Another reason I think I will wait to go shop, I am not sure what roads are open. For supper I am thinking of making some bolognese sauce with ground turkey, and serve it over pappardelle noodles. I think the lady that was out in the apartment is leaving today, so I may try to get some laundry done. I did hear about some tornadoes near Omaha, but not about the one near Marlene. Hope we hear something soon. Waving to everyone. Have a great day!

I accidentally posted on yesterday's thread so here it is again . . .
Good morning. I, too, have been thinking about Marlene. I hope she's okay and we can find out somehow. I worry for those living in the areas with the high storm alerts.
Bet, that sounds like a lot of work coming up for you. I hope you can get some assistance with lifting that water. At least our weather here in the state looks to be getting warmer.
Not a lot going on here today except waiting for package delivery. Troy's wife Monique is stopping by after work for a short visit. That's nice since I have mostly talked with her over the phone.
I am getting anxious for better weather and warmer temperatures. Hopefully, they are on their way.
Have a good and safe day everyone. Talk to you later.
Birdy

Good morning. I have Judy at the Dr. I am sitting in my truck . We are at 83° right now heading to 93.
I called Marlene and left message on her answering machine and asked her to call me or pop on the board and let us know that she is okay. Still haven't heard from her.
Today, is just cards. I do know we need to go to cable TV and to the grocery store sometime.
So many residents leaving this week, I am sure not looking forward to it.

Highs in the 80s today with thunderstorms tomorrow. It is overcast at the moment. I didn't sleep well so feeling drowsy. Nap can't be too soon at this rate. Will need to tidy up first. Supper will be an easy pick from the freezer. I got my nice grocery haul this morning. Ta Da! My new pickle ketchup included. One thing I should try first is french fries now that I think of it for a proper test. Thinking of Marlene! Scary stuff. Hugs to all who need one.

Hello. Another day that I must say I am just popping in quickly before I'm on to other things.
Earlier this morning, I had some leftover grated zucchini that I used up in a batch of Zucchini Drop Cookies. After I cleaned up the kitchen and emptied the dishwasher from last night, I had to do my biking. Although it is currently 85* and partly sunny, it feels much warmer.
Once DH arrives home from work, we need to stop by the post office, go pay the water bill, and then DH needs to go buy a pair of tennis shoes. He's very rough on shoes and texted me that the sole on one of the shoes he's wearing today split wide open. Bet that has to be a bit uncomfortable while he's jumping around in the kitchen.
Dinner is going to be leftovers of some sort---chicken chow mien, creamed chicken over the confetti rice from last night or zucchini meatballs in a balsamic brown sugar glaze with mashed potatoes.
I did not hear that Harlen had been hit with a tornado the other day, but while watching the weather I do remember the tornado in Omaha looking as if it was aiming directly for Harlan. Praying Marlene is okay and that she will take the time to let us know she is alright.
Better go pop into the shower and dress--DH will be here in about 20 minutes. Waving to all---take care. Lori

Good afternoon! Just poured a small glass of iced coffee and will sit for a bit to chat! I just finished a major chore...packing up the books we cannot donate to the Baldwin library in doubled grocery bags to be picked up by the Epilepsy Foundation on Friday. I have them stacked out on the front porch and will have to move them to the curb on Friday. There are more books upstairs and in the attic, but I'm going to have the junk dealers take them. I also just schedule the auction dealers to start on June 6th. Once stuff we want is moved, I will finishing organizing stuff for the auction. It seems endless, but I am making progress. I baked the andouille sausage so now I just need to reheat the mash and it. Bean salad has been in the fridge since last night. Oh, I am praying for Marlene. That clip of the Harlan tornado was sure scary. Electrician has not shown up and left no message so I don't know what's up with that. He needs to clean up his mess and collect his stuff. Supposedly the fire marshal is supposed to inspect his work tomorrow. Tasty - What an inconvenience with the dryer. They sure don't make things well these days. Chris - As far as I know the JoAnn's in Methuen is still open. Is each store a franchise? Jan - Pork chops with mushroom sauce sounds delicious. I love me a bone-in thick pork chop especially the bone!!! Mamma - You are keeping yourself pretty busy! Thanks for the offer of cinnamon rolls and fresh strawberries! Tammy - I haven't cooked beef tips in the pressure cooker in ages...beef is so expensive. I only buy it when I see a sale tag on it at this point. Mexican restaurants are not popular around here. The one good one (scratch menu) closed just before the pandemic. The only other one I know about is Chipotle, but after reading about the cleanliness issue in it, I haven't even tried it. I've made bolognese sauce with ground turkey. It was called white bolognese and it was really good. giadzy.com/blogs/recipes/white-bolognese You have to join giadzy for the instructions, but I figure once you have the ingredients, you won't need the instructions. Elaine - Sorry lots of friends are leaving for the summer. Helen - Hope you like the pickle ketchup! Did you ever have 'Pickle de Gallo'? It's easy to make. I posted it. Now that I pulled it from my files, I'm going to make some! Lori - I remember as a kid we'd get new "Keds" at the start of summer vacation, and I'd have to get a new pair in September...played them out!!! Are you zucchini meatballs vegetarian? I've made Ciao Italia's Marianne Esposito's meatless ones. They were so good. She grates the zucchini on a hand grater until she gets to the seed part so to lessen the moisture content. Not that recipe, but I took two cooking classes with her at Boston University decades ago!!! Coffee is gone so my break is over. Time to move. Enjoy your evening! Waving!

Drat, the a/c guys were an hour and a half late so I was half an hour late for my group. They found that a capacitor was bad and leaking freon which was causing the a/c to freeze and shut off. It took 4 pounds of freon and that stuff is not cheap. They will be coming back this afternoon to put in a different thermostat and throw away the ridiculous programable one that I have now, The total comes to $300 which they said they will collect when they come back. They gave me a nice discount too. And boy does the a/c throw off cold air now. WOW. It should run more efficiently now too. It's doing a much better job at holding the temp and not freezing me out one minute and cooking me the next. They said the unit should be good for a few more years and that all looked really good. From their mouths to Gods ears. :) Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Group was good. We talked about journaling, eating right, resting and letting the tears flow. I shared the first couple pages of my journal. The new lady who just lost her husband 3 weeks ago, said that what I wrote was a big help to her. So I'm really happy that I shared. Our group leader wanted the copy. I never thought I was a good writer, but they thought I was. LOL It just came from my heart.
Lunch is done, just a sandwich, I've set up my appointment with Albert Tires to have them put on the cart tomorrow. He said today, but I don't like to be the reason someone has to work in the heat, let others do that. I'll take the morning hours. Plus I don't want to sit in the heat waiting either. LOL
Sunny, 92º and little to no breeze. Supper is still in the thinking process. Isn't it always??

Good afternoon to everybody -- after work I went to return a pair of shoes I bought last week at DSW in Greenville. They were on the clearance rack but I just didn't love them and regretted that purchase pretty quickly. I also realized that I had a coupon for DSW that I hadn't taken with me. Well, I found the coupon and it was $30 off a $50 purchase so I decided I would not limit myself to the clearance rack. That worked out well! I found a nice pair of the Skechers slip-ons ("slip-ins"?) for $74.99. With my coupon, plus the return, plus the $5 off I got for exchanging the other shoes instead of just returning -- they ended up giving me money! I came out $15.37 ahead! Now that's my kind of shopping.
Chris, there is a JoAnn's store in the same shopping center and they were advertising for part-time help! Come on down!
Ann, I haven't watched the video but have seen pictures from Oklahoma and Iowa of the tornado damage. So scary. Saying a prayer for Marlene.
Tasty, that's a shame that your dryer is already having parts replaced. I still have the Kenmore dryer I bought in 1993 when we moved to Louisville. That thing is bare bones but it runs like a champ.
Jan, your pork chops do sound good. I have tenderloin in the freezer but no pork chops. Need to add those to the list!
Mamma, I am so glad that you have felt welcomed and appreciated in your grief group. Sounds like you are a blessing to them. That's great that you are enjoying your new church.
Tammy, BBQ beef sounds good. I have a recipe to make that with London Broil that I haven't pulled out in a while.
Birdy, I was catching up and saw your post both places! Hope you enjoy visiting with Monique.
Lori, your DH is rough on shoes! I guess I am too. The reason I was buying new shoes for work is that the fabric Skechers I've been wearing have holes in both toes. 😄
DH is out cutting grass since we're supposed to get rain tomorrow and then much warmer temps for the rest of the week. I'm going to fix chicken tenders and tater tots that we can have in front of the TV after he gets done and gets a shower.
