The first tornado went through the western part of Elkhorn, which is a few miles west of here. My nephew and family live there, and my DSIL in the nursing home is about a block from them. The tornado was about 12 blocks or so west of them. It traveled northeast and north hitting a town, Bennington, on its way through. Another tornado went on the eastern part of the city, destroying some buildings at the airport. These storms dumped a lot of rain and hail. We only got a few hailstones. Connie lives south of the city in Papillion. I know the storm went past there, but I didn't see anything about tornadoes hitting there. There was a lot of damage in those parts that got hit. Thankfully, at this point, no one was killed and only a few injuries.

Thank you for letting us know you're okay. I saw the video of the big tornado on my 6 o'clock news, and was hoping you and Connie were safe.

Glad to hear that you are okay and Connie posted in Midwest that she is as well. That's a little too close for comfort, isn't it? Sounds like more storm/tornado chances throughout the weekend. Thanks for checking in, Leroy. Charlene

Thanks for letting us know you are OK Leroy. I hadn't heard about this yet.
I gave DISH Network last week so no TV until I get a decent indoor antenna or sign up with FIOS.
I see Charlene said Connie checked in on Midwest so that's good too.
Stay Safe

I see Charlene said Connie checked in on Midwest so that's good too. Gayle...Even though I am in Iowa where many tornadoes were, I am in the far NE corner and the tornadoes were in the SW corner of the state.....over 300 miles from me. Charlene

I think the worst place for tornadoes is Oklahoma and I cannot think of anyone on here that is in Oklahoma. I would call it "tornado alley". Okla did have one in which 2 people (an adult and a child) died. As far as is known, no casualties in Nebraska or Iowa but they were very widespread...something like 80 or more went thru the state! Appreciate all your concerns. We did live in Elkhorn at on time and our youngest daughter still lives there but she called someone to check on their house and said it was fine. Their two dogs were in the Kennel as they were in Colorado at a military conference. Should be home today.
