Morning! It's clear and 41° out there today. Should be a nice spring day. After dancing with the Swifters this morning, I will return to the sorting and packing. It got to the point yesterday that I'd open a box from one of the hiding places we have, look at the contents, and just ask "why?" did we keep all of this c*ap!! I have a bunch of those paper cubes to bring to the senior center tomorrow!!! Supper last night was outstanding. I mixed the whole wheat pasta with some of my Verde sauce and topped it with simply sautéed jumbo shrimp. We split a slice of Boston cream cake with ice cream for our dessert. Got that with a red tag at the market. Tonight we are having salmon corn chowder. The Aldi lightly smoked salmon was in the freezer. Using Snow's corn chowder and will add onions and leftover chopped spinach to the mix. Didn't hear from my neighbor yesterday so the piles have not been reduced!!! Have a wonderful Sunday! Waving!

Good morning to all! Today is National Chickpea Day and National Chocolate Covered Cashews Day. It is also National Tea Day in the U.K. per the early morning news.
Never made it here yesterday. I had a rough day filled with some aches and pains, so I spent the day pretty much in the Lazy Boy. Feeling a tad better this morning, so I thought I'd get here early in case the day goes downhill. I sure hope not, crossing my fingers, as poor DH had to do everything yesterday.
Dinner this evening will be some baby back ribs. Glad DH pulled them from the freezer as that gives me a little more room in there. I had him also take out some chicken, which I'd like to roast in the oven. When cool, I will pull it off the bones and use it on Monday to make soup. Right now, I'm headed to the kitchen for a cup of coffee and English muffin with blueberry cream cheese for my breakfast.
Waving to all and wishing you a super Sunday! Lori

Good morning all. A cool day ahead again with a high in the mid to high 40s. I suppose I shouldn't complain as this is probably quite normal but having had so much warmer here at home already, a little warmer would be nice. At least we will see the sun. Ann, we have been in the condo close to 2 years now and we are still getting rid of STUFF. And we got rid of so much before moving, and regularly take bags of unwanted goodies to the resale stores. The curling club is having its annual yard sale in a few weeks and we'll have more for them too! Hope the aches and pains have left you Lori. Another day of taking it easy would do you good tho. Yesterday I had 4 loads of laundry - just have a tiny bit of ironing to do today. Would like to get some cookies made this morning - we'll see whether or not that happens. I’ve been going thru some recipes I have saved over the years. Cooking needs a kick to get me out of the rut I've been in since we came home and I'm finding a few good looking ones. Have a super Sunday, whatever you choose to do.

Good morning everyone. Ann, too bad your neighbour didn’t make it there yesterday. So gratifying when you see piles of stuff you no longer need, going down. Perhaps she’ll make it there today. Lori, I’m so sorry to hear you’re having some bad, pain filled days, and your DH having to do everything. I hope you continue to get better. Tasty, 45* here right now at 6:40am, going up to 57* later on. We’ve been here 5+ years now and we’re still getting rid of stuff, but I will admit, it’s slowed down a lot. Last of the big stuff will be going out today, maybe. Stereo equipment and hopefully the boxed up Christmas tree we only used once. If it fits in the back of DGD1’s car (she’ll have to put the back seat down), otherwise it’ll be here for a while yet. Everyone remarked how beautiful it was, but a lot of work for folks in their 80s/90s. We bought a little table top tree. Have no idea what we’re doing today, but there’s always something. Plan on making a TOH recipe, Apricot Glaze Chicken for supper. Don’t remember making it before, but have it in my binder with ‘yum’ written next to it. Chicken breasts with only 3 other ingredients, super easy. If we still like it, I’ll post it. Jan

Good morning. Boy did I sleep good last night. Only up once last night, that never happens, and reluctantly woke up at 6:30. I got dressed and out the door before coffee, which also seldom happens. We walked again this morning even though my feet were not sure what they were doing. A couple other dogs came to the other side of the fence so Mandy got a good run.
Now coffee and my cookies. This morning Lynda and I are going to check out a different church. This church is Methodist. I've been a member of a methodist church back in MN until that church closed and then became baptist and Lynda is Methodist. I do hope this will be a good fit for the both of us. It looks to be a bigger church but not as large as the baptist church I attended awhile back. Maybe I will be able to attend a bible study or some other activities once I am comfortable and then can get out of the house. Hows that? I'm trying to be on the positive side for a change. Lynda has other plans for after church so we won't be able to compare "notes" after church. But I'm sure she will call later.
Nothing else planned for the day. The high could hit 100º today so Mandy's afternoon outing, I hope, will be quick. hehehe
Ann I can relate to the "why did all the cr** get saved". My hubby was a pack rat, he wouldn't toss anything. Best of luck to you.
Lori, I'll take the chocolate covered cashews!!!!! HUGS to you and have a much better day today.
Tasty, I vote for cookies, but than I always do. I am a real cookie monster. Enjoy the sunshine, I'll gladly share the heat.
Jan, I agree a smaller tree works best for us more "mature" people. I hate thinking I'm old, even though I know better. hehehe For me, now, even the smaller tree is a pain. But since Mark died, I've lost interest in a lot of things.
Left over spaghetti for lunch, no idea what supper will be.

Jan, your supper tonight is very similar to what I made for us on Friday. We really enjoyed it, now I just have to find the recipe again so I can print it out which is what I do with the recipes I want to hang on to.
Mamma, what kind of cookies do you make for breakfast? I have a batch of hobnobs in the oven right now that we like - very plain.

Tasty, I just bake a large batch of cookies and eat a few each morning with my coffee until gone. No specific kinds, just whatever I'm in the mood for. I like cookies any time of day. :)

Hi again. Mamma, now you’re on the right track. Just take it slow and you’ll find an activity you’ll be comfortable with. And some new friends too. Tasty, that’s what I do, copy the recipe out and put it in my binder if it’s one we like. Through the years I’ve acquired many binders, all in alphabetical order. Looking through them, can’t believe some of the foods I’ve made through the years. Tastes change, big time! Ok, back at it, looking for a Blueberry Banana Coffee Cake, have berries and bananas in the freezer. I’ve found one on google, but looks very rich, so have to think about it. Not making it today anyway. Ok, back at it. Jan

I'm pretty late checking in today. I got involved with something and lost track of the time.
Lunch today was pretty discouraging. What I thought was gravy over my mashed potatoes turned out to be pureed beef stew that the others were getting. It tasted okay but what a sad excuse for stew. And the pumpkin pie filling they gave me tasted like raw pumpkin from the can. There were no spices or sugar that I could detect. I actually asked if they had any ice cream and I got a cup of chocolate ice cream for dessert.
The daughter of one of the residents on my hall stopped by to tell me that she had used Merlin last evening when heading for the parking lot. She heard something in the woods so turned on the app and it was a great horned owl! I introduced her to the app when she was standing next to me the day of the eclipse and we heard a barred owl in the woods as it got dark. All the people that I see here in the house are so deaf they never heard it and called me an imaginative old lady and basically made fun of me. I was a good girl and did not point out that they were deaf. The staff witnessed this and gave me a small table by myself right in front of the huge windows overlooking the woods. I have to say I am thrilled I no longer have to make conversation with people who are not interested in my interests. Besides I can bird watch to my heart's content!
What you all are cooking sounds so good. Let's hope in a few months I will be able to chew and can get some fried chicken delivered!
Have a good evening. I'll talk to you later.
Birdy

Had a good visit with DSIL earlier. He was here as all the light bulbs in my master bath finally gave up the ghost. Very dark without any lights and since I can't get on a ladder to replace them, it was Craig to the rescue. Turns out the one bulb that fizzled and started turning itself off and on just for fun was really the whole light fixture burning itself out. We counted all the lights needing bulbs and he then changed the ones he could. New light fixture is obviously in my very near future. Bless his sweet heart he also offered to get me lunch since he was going to stop on the way home for their lunch. I had eggplant parmesan and a beautiful big salad. That was enough for two meals, maybe three, so lucked out on that too. Hope you're feeling better, Lori. I had something a couple weeks ago that really put me down for several days. You treat your hubby like a king so let him help. He's glad to. It's sunny and definitely cooler. I wish you all a good nite's sleep with maybe a nice dream or two if you've been good. Hugs

Good afternoon. It has been a rather busy day but at a relaxing pace for a change. Work up this morning to 27°and sunny. That was at 6:30. By 8:30 that was the end of the sun and it has been quite breezy. It did manage to get up to 44° which is right now. There was no way I was working outside today trying to get the spring clean up done. Actually when I walked in yesterday afternoon from work I took one look around and decided my house was a wreck and really needed some attention. Unfortunately haven't made any progress on that idea but have gotten a lot accomplished today.
The third load of laundry is in the dryer and 3 loads have been folded and put away. My seedling are watered and then it was kitchen time. Dishwasher emptied, all food in the freezer packaged and moved to freezers downstairs and food in refrigerator portioned and into the freezer. All science project have been removed from the refrigerator. Dishwasher reloaded and needs to be emptied. Mixed up a new recipe for a loaf of white sandwich bread and is now sleeping in the refrigerator until morning when it will be baked.
Now I start on the mounds of papers sitting everywhere. Most are work stuff. Have just been coming in at night and tossing all of the stuff from that day on a table instead of filing it and just loading up my work bag with the next days work. What a mess.
Ann,hope you enjoyed your dance this morning. Its a good night for soup here. I don't thing spring is ever going to come. Sorry your piles are still there. Hopefully someone showed up today to take at least a few things.
Lori, so sorry you are having such discomfort. Hope it is improving today. I am sure DH doesn't mind a bit having to do everything for you. Ribs sound good. I have some in the freezer that I smoked last fall. Will need to get them on the menu soon.
Tasty, you have the Curling Club sale to get rid of things. I have been trying for the past 2 years to get things to the Lions' garage sale but never get to it. This year I am calling the pick up crew and will have them come pick it up in advance for me. It is so great that I don't have the binders with collected recipes. It is so easy with the recipe program I have. Well worth the $30 it software cost.
Jan, hope your DGD makes it to pick up what sounds like some wonderful things you have for her today. I like your temperature of 57° much better than mine today.
Mamma, hope you enjoyed the new church today. Not sure I have ever had cookies for breakfast but remember when I was in high school breakfast was a piece of my Mom's fresh chocolate cake. But then I like cold pizza for breakfast so each to their own.
Birdy, how nice that you have your own table by the window to watch the wildlife. It is too bad that those around you are unable to understand where you are coming from. I guess you can just be thankful that your mental faculties are still with you. I agree your stew doesn't sound very appetizing. Hopefully that fried chicken will be on your plate sooner that you think.
Helen, nice that DSIL is available to do things for you and then provide you with lunch and what sounds like a couple of more meals.
Elaine, sounds like management is a bit lazy. It is OK you are a trouble maker. Someone has to speak up.
Enjoy your evening.
Bet

Birdy, do you have Starlings to watch? They are really aggressive and funny to watch as they eat upside down from the Suet Feeder. Great that they leave the safflower seeds for the little finches and sparrows.

A chilly, rainy Sunday here. All the music went well this morning at church so that was a relief. DH picked up Arby's roast beef sandwiches and curly fries for our lunch and then we were both ready for some rest time.
After a video chat with DS2, I went to a music concert at a nearby Catholic church -- some choral music but mostly organ or piano. It was nice to just sit and listen!
