Brownie Goody Bars (from Betty Crocker brownie mix box)-emr
1 package Betty Crocker Supreme brownie mix
1 tub Betty Crocker vanilla frosting
3/4 c. salted peanuts, coarsely chopped
3 cups crisp rice cereal
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 bag (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Make brownies as directed on package for 9x13 pan. Cool completely.
Frost brownies with vanilla frosting. Sprinkle with peanuts and refrigerate.
Measure cereal into large bowl; set aside. Melt peanut butter and chocolate chips in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Pour over cereal in bowl, stirring until evenly coated. Spread over frosted brownies. Cool completely before serving.
I have made these for bake sales and they are always a huge hit. They look great and they are delicious!
A couple of notes: I use 1 cup of peanuts rather than 3/4 and I do not chop them. I sprinkle them over the vanilla frosting and press them in gently.
Also, I melt the chocolate chips and peanut butter in the microwave instead of in a saucepan.
