Use only real maple syrup. Dark cooking grade gives the most flavor
Maple Cookies-birdy Recipe courtesy of: Burt Homestead Farm, Maple Products, Cold Brook, NY • 1 cup maple syrup • 1 egg • 1/2 cup butter, softened, but not melted • 2 cups all-purpose flour • 1 tsp. baking powder • 1 tsp. baking soda • 1/2 tsp. salt • Chopped walnuts (optional) Mix maple syrup, egg, and softened butter with electric mixer. Stir together dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add dry ingredients to first mixture. Drop by tablespoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 F. for 10-12 minutes. You may add chopped walnuts to mixture or sprinkle them on top.
