My kids favorite cut out cookie recipe. Makes a soft cookie with good cocoa flavor. I frost with vanilla buttercream and the kids decorate. Freezes well. I freeze between layers of parchment after the frosting has set.
Cocoa Cookie Cut Out-mnwildflowers 1/2 cup butter, softened 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 2 cups AP flour 1/2 cup cocoa 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt
Cream butter, sugar, add eggs and vanilla and mix to combine. Stir in dry ingredients. Cover and refrigerate until firm enough to handle. Roll to 1/8” thickness and cut to desired shapes.* Bake at 350 for 6 minutes. Cool 1 minute on pan then place cookies on cooling racks. Frost and decorate. *I always roll on well floured parchment and bake on parchment as well.
