Good morning friends.
If you haven't posted on the What's Cooking thread before, please feel free to join us. Normally Nancy would start us off but I haven't seen her here yet so I thought I would get us going for today.
No definite plans yet for tonight but I'm thinking salad. I have some basic salad ingredients in the fridge that I want to use before they spoil. I also need to incorporate the few odds and ends growing in the garden. Other than tomatoes, things are sparse this year because of the drought. Guess I could say we'll have chef's salad - that can cover whatever I find .
Hope you have a wonderful day.

Good morning Tasty. Glad you started this thread. Let's see what happens. I think Denise is thinking of moving the Budget Cooking group over here also. She has been emailing me.
My cooking at home will be limited to pulling a meal from the freezer. Not too sure what it will be but for sure not beef. Seems that is all I have been eating lately. Maybe a nice stuffed pork chop.
I may have my neighbors coming for dinner some time this weekend and if they do I will be smoking a pork loin.
Have a great day.

Good noon, everyone! Last of the nice weather today. Oppressive humidity will be in place tomorrow through next Monday. The good thing though, we may get some much needed rain.
Tonight we are having some more "Shwarma"...hamburger seasoned with sumac and zaatar and cooked with garlic and onion..., homemade tabouli, and hummus. I'm also going to put out the recipe I made for this week's challenge on FB..."Lemon Roasted Asparagus". The challenge is to pick a recipe with less than 6 reviews, make it and review it. The fresh lemon peel and garlic smells heavenly just assembling the ingredients.
Waving to everyone; will check in later.

Hi everyone...Happy Tuesday! This is my first post! I'm very excited to see some familiar names and to know there is a place for us to keep in touch since we will soon be displaced by TOH. Thank you for letting me be a part of this group.
This evening our meal will be Pork Chop Dinner. First time making it--a TOH recipe I found in a cookbook I won this summer from TOH, Casseroles, Slow Cooker, & Soups. It is posted as a slow-cooker meal, but I decided to put everything into a small electric frying pan. It was done in just two hours. Need to run some errands this afternoon, so I've set the meal aside for a quick reheat when I get back. I also have some kale that needs to be used, so I'll make two small side salads.

I am strongly leaning towards fish for supper tonight. It will probably either be a pasta salad with tuna, or I may go with some pollock fillets. If I am going with the pasta salad and tuna, I guess I better get myself in gear. That will take a while to chill. I think I will also marinate some cucumbers now that I think of it. Thanks for inviting us to post along with you all!

It is so nice to see my TOH friends over here! Thanks for starting this and letting me join. It will be leftovers for us tonight because I am working 2-7. I am watching the Olympic Equestrian events that I taped earlier as I play on the computer. I have become a complete Olympics junkie! LOL Lynne

Greetings everyone, from a newbie! I need to make a salad for a potluck on Wednesday at my condo association. Anyone have a summer salad they absolutely love?

Belle, I brought a pizza pasta salad to our block party one year and it was gone in an instant. No exact recipe. Use rotini pasta (tri-colored) works too). Boil and rinse under cold water, add chunks of peppers, pepperoni, mozzarella or provolone cheese, onion, cherry tomatoes, Italian dressing. It's so versatile so add or take out whatever you like.

Hello !
Supper tonight is going to be chicken marsala and I will brown some scallops for DH. We'll have baked butternut squash also.
Lynne, I also have been watching Olympics. Not that I am a junkie but here in Nova Scotia we only get 2 channels and one is the Canadian Olympics broadcast.
Today is a gorgeous warm and sunny day. We have only had one foggy day since we arrived. I hope tomorrow is nice. We are going to the far west end of N.S. to a town named Yarmouth and spend the day.

So glad to see so many have come over to the new board and we have new friends, too.
I went to Trader Joe's. Put that all away and washed the floor. I know Lynne, I should have just relaxed. At least I didn't get interrupted. LOL
Heading out soon to get my 7th grader. Her sister tutors other students three days a week so she won't be home until 5.

I can get somehow intimidated with "real" cooks...lol...but watching so many food shows (many times its the only decent programs to watch), I'm getting better...I also make that pizza salad, but usually just pasta and veggies, walnuts, olives, goat's cheese and lemon/olive o./spices as dressing, it is also good when you need to use the leftover veggies before they spoil..That Mediterranean meal, somebody mentioned, sounds GREAT!!! Happy cooking today!!

Thanks Nancy for the salad suggestion. That sounds really good, and who doesn't like the taste of pizza! Thanks!
