Good morning everyone.
It's nice to see our new posters showing up each day!
Hubby and I are planning on taking advantage of really nice September weather and golfing this afternoon. We will visit a new-to-us golf course and probably eat out on the way home 😊
Have a wonderful day.

Good morning friends and thanks for starting us off Tasty. Bet you enjoyed your Chinese food.
Elza, Sorry to hear about the passing of your friends.
Yes, Good to see old and new friends returning.
I didn't make the pot roast yesterday as it was too hot and humid to turn the oven on. Instead, I made fried chicken, mashed potatoes and a salad.
Our central a/c isn't working so Dh and his friend were working on it last night. His friend is supposed to come back today with some parts. I hope they are able to fix it. Right now it's a beautiful morning and I have all the windows open. I have the pot roast in the oven now for dinner tonight as it's going up to 80* later.
Safe travels Tammy.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

Hello everyone - It was a very busy day here. Got the farm stuff all done at lawyers office and paid bank the loan on folks keeping in nursing homes and that feels good to have all that done. Now have appt. for Oct.2 with lawyer to do all the touches on MIL's state and get the inherit tax all figured and paid. That will be a terrible bill to pay but they had the farms to keep them so have to remember that. I did not get groceries as I was drained and came home. So will go this morning and do that. We had lots of rain yesterday and last night so can not get lawn mowed until it dries again. There was 30% chance and was pouring!!I also stopped at store where I bought the lawnmower as I am having a hard time starting it after paying a big price I want to be able to start it!
Nothing much on the agenda as anything interesting so better get some good tops of mine in washer and do hand wash on them. I did make appt. to get my picture taken the 9th of October so trying to decide what top to wear. That will be a gift for my kids even if I am too fat and ugly!!

Good morning. Nancy, we sure rely on our air cond. don't we? Hope you get it fixed. Don't think we'll have ours on much more this yr. Tasty, both my sils are special. The other one sends 1 or 2 of his crew every week to cut our lawn. When they're too busy he comes himself. Even trims with the weed eater. Always looks nice, just like DH would do. Have fun golfing. Marjo, you have been so busy with all you have to do. That lawyer stuff has to be done tho. Will be nice to have it all done. DH says he'll cook wonton for us tonight. Sounds good to me. So much stuff in the freezer to use. Will check in later. Jan

Good morning. 57 overnight and it is cloudy but no rain expected today. We may see a little sun but high will be only about 70. Yesterday it was 84 with a heat index of 97. Our low humidity for the day is still over 80%. Yesterday was busy as usual. Had Annabelle most of the day. Did get the last of the chicken made into the filling for pot pies. I think I have 4 little pot pie tins so need to make pie crust for them. That should be fun since I can't make pie crust but it can't be any worse that the one I bought about a week ago. It was terrible. The rest I will freeze in individual serving in vacuum seal bags. Can make them in a casserole with biscuit on top for a crust. That chicken was good to me. I made 4 meals of cacciatore, had biscuits and gravy one night, and have no idea how many pot pies I will get. I do know I don't want to eat any chicken for a while. Monday night was Lions' meeting and what did the serve but chicken parm. I have picked down the last of the tomatoes. Cooked up what was ripe and need to get that canned. I did finally get the coolers for the Lions Club cleaned yesterday also. I have to clean my kitchen before I can do anything out there today. I have a peck of apples that I need to take care of. I will can some for Annabelle and probably make Cinnamon Apple bread from some but that is another day. Have a ton of paper work on the computer to get done for the Lions and some of it has to be done today.
Elza, sorry to hear of your losses. Hope you are able to celebrate their lives.
Marlene, I am sure you will be glad when everything is complete on your in-laws estates. I certainly has been a lot of work with losing both so close together.
Tasty, sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday. Enjoy your golf outing today. It is always nice to play a new course.
I haven't had a chance to welcome Trailmom and Jan. Glad to have you here and participating. Sorry you both had problems getting signed up here. Trailmom to bad you didn't still have my email address from all the correspondence that went on when I was setting up the new forum for Cooking for 2. I could have helped you get on.
I am a widow of 11 years. Have 2 grown children, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. They are the love of my life. I live in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains in Northeaster New York. DH and I built a new home 15 years ago on top a not quite mountain on 9 acres of land. Those planning to move I do understand as we moved after 39 years in the same house. However we didn't downsize so am still getting rid of a lot of stuff that got moved.
Have a great day.

Good morning.
Nice here today so far but the afternoons are still hot. Nancy, hope the ac gets fixed today. Ours is still running a lot.
DD and I have been busy getting ready for her move to college Saturday. Yesterday we went shopping for jeans and more shorts. Today we are getting boxes.
Not sure what dinner will be yet. Maybe calzone or pizza.
Youngest dd starts fall break on Friday for three weeks. Too bad her sister is just leaving for college.
Have a great day.

Bet, have you ever made the pie crusts with the vinegar and egg? I get 4 or 5 crusts out of the recipe and always have some in my freezer. You can roll them out several times and they are always good.....never tough. Will post the recipe if you want it.

Good afternoon friends. Today is National Butterscotch Day.
Although there is a 30% chance of rain later this afternoon, it's been cloudy all morning and a few drops have fallen twice now. Currently 88*, it feels comfortable since the sun isn't beating down.
Tasty, how nice that you were able to go with hubby today and still enjoy some golf. Maybe the weather will cooperate and you'll get to do so a few more times before the weather changes. Thanks for starting us off.
Nancy, hope you don't have to go much longer without your A/C.
Marlene, I'm sure your children and grandchildren will love the picture of you. What is the lawnmower store planning to do about the new machine having a hard start? Hope it's a simple fix or ask for a new one.
Jan in BC, how nice that your SIL's help to keep your lawn looking nice. The growing is slowing down just a bit now and DH is only having to cut it once a week--still no fun in the heat and humidity.
Bet, your days sure are busy with all you have to do between cooking, gardening, Lions, and enjoying the great grands. Are you still working too? Not sure how you do it all, but bless you.
Betsy, enjoy your time this week with DD before she leaves for college. How is little Poppy doing?
Planning to grill fish and have riced broccoli with it. Made some homemade applesauce this morning and a dish of that will be dessert.
Waving to all and wishing you a wonderful Wednesday.
Lori

G'Day Mates! Just checking in. A hot day is on its way here - again. I think we are going to have one of those years where there will be no Fall. Just hot summer, a day or two of cool weather than right into winter.
I think I am getting everybody sorted out and who is who. But, forgive me if I get a bit mixed up for a while. I am an ex and ex and now am doing hospice for the past 17 years. I love it. I have learned so much from my patients and their survivors. I have made some very good friends through the process. Sometimes, in-between my Hospice patients, I will do patient care.
I just walked outside with Jellybean a few moments ago and everything was stone silent. After looking up around the tree tops I found the culprits. A beautiful pair of red-tailed hawks were on the hunt. They are deadly, but they are gorgeous. We have been blessed with a young bald eagle that comes around now and then to fish in our lake. Again, Jellybean doesn't cotton to them being around. He is only the size of a rabbit!
Lori, I hope all works out well for your FIL. At 95, it is tough to heal and mend. May the angels be with him.

Afternoon, friends! It's cloudy, drizzly, and cool today. What a relief from the muggies. I just got home from the senior center. I took my mom to the monthly tea. Today they were honoring all of those members who are 90 or older. It was a very nice event. The entertainment was really good...the tap dancers put on a jazzy presentation. Such talent...! There was a light lunch provided, and, even though mom had eaten lunch she ate up a storm! LOL Tonight DH is cooking chops from his venison stash! I made 2x baked potatoes and will serve up some of the butternut that I made yesterday. TM - We had a pair of red tails snag a squirrel near our birdfeeders once. Proceeded to give us quite a show with eating it and defending it from another that landed in a nearby tree...by mantling his catch. Elza - Hugs to you over your loss. Lori - My mom adds riced broccoli stems (that I make for her) to her scrambled egg each morning! I love to add some to our grain side dishes. Marlene - That's wonderful about getting your picture taken for your children. I'm sure your goodness and kindness will shine through! I'm glad the farm work is sorted. Ouch on the estate tax. My shoes got so wet yesterday that they still are damp!! JanBC -Isn't it great when the DH cooks?!? Even though I do most of the cooking, he does most of the cleaning up. Tonight our roles will be reversed. Nancy - Hope the AC got fixed! Betsy - The excitement in your house must be palatable with one starting a new adventure and another starting a vacation!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful evening! Waving to all.

Good Afternoon! It's still summer down here in Texas. Heat index is about 100* today. Wish I could have stayed at home but had to go to the store for groceries. I am melting chocolate now for the brownies I will bake. I am also going to make a pan on mini toffee rolls (made with crescent roll dough). I probably won't get those made until tomorrow. When the brownies are done I will need to start on our supper of chicken spaghetti. I already had some cooked chicken so since it is a stove top recipe, it should come together quickly. I go play cards at 6 p.m.
I got a call to play bunco on Thursday afternoon, so will plan on making goulash in the Instant Pot-another quick supper. I am using ground turkey this time instead of beef.
Nancy, sure hope the ac gets repaired today.
I am also doing laundry today.
Waving to all. Need tog o now and finish the brownies. Have a great day!

The house showing went off without a hitch this morning. Will get feedback later though obviously not a sale as no offer was made. Thanks to all for encouragement. I do not live right on the beach but am not far, 15 minutes I'd say. I think Lori lives a block away or less so she can smell the Red Tide when the wind blows her way.
My tale of woe today is another appliance malfunction. Last nite I noticed water on the kitchen floor in front of the sink and when I opened the cabinet door underneath, a whole lot of water came out. Discovered my garbage disposal is leaking. Also, those tiny ghost ants have resurfaced after several months without them. Anyway, tomorrow I will have the service techie for the disposal in the morning and in the afternoon the pest control guy. Oh, and since these misfortunes always come in threes: Last nite we had a rainstorm so strong I was sure that the pool would overflow. So the pool guy is going to have a look at the outflow valve to see if it is clogged.
Supper tonite was rotisserie chicken and scalloped potatoes. I'm planning on hot shredded chicken sandwiches in the near future.
Elza, hugs to you as you grieve your friends.

Tasty- I hope you had a good day golfing with DH. It was a nice fall day here.
Elza- So sorry about the loss of your friends! My friends son is going to Boston for an intensive rehab and will be there a while. He has to get the back brace on first then he will be shipped down.
Nancy- Did you get your AC back on? How did the pot roast turn out?
Marlene- Sounds like a busy day for you but bet you are glad most of it is done. I had to teach DH to do laundry! LOL Bless his heart he has been trying but the separating has been a challenge for him! Lots of pink instead of white things now! LOL Oh well he means well!
Jan on BC! What great SIL's you have! I bet you treasure them!
Bet- glad you got so much out of that chicken! LOL Nice to have a good fall day isn't it!
Betsy- Fall break already for your DD! And getting the other one off! So will that leave you with only one at home?
Pippin- I would be interested in that pie crust recipe.
Lori- Did your DD and DSIL make it home okay? How did they do in the race? I wished I could have gone up and at least had a sign somewhere to encourage them. I will do that if they come up again and do this! It would be fun. I mde applesauce on Saturday and we had that last night for desert! Sorry for the trauma Drama with Il's! Hugs to you and Dh!
Trailmom! I love the wildlife we have around here. We have had a nesting pair of Bald Eagles at the Dam up by our house and it has been cool seeing them flying over head. We have a river right by us and they frequently fly by our house.
Ann- It is nice to have the cooler weather. Nice for your Mom on the celebration.
Tammy- Was nice to see the picture of you at PW restaurant! Cool!
I just made individual Lava Cakes from StoneWall Kitchen! Look really good! DH got the milk!
Talk to you all later, Chris
