Good morning all.
Looks like the rain we have been promised from Gordon is just starting. We might get about an inch. It is badly needed so no complaints here. I may run over to the mainland this morning for a few odds and ends - maybe!!!
Somebody on another post mentioned soup for supper and after fancier food the last couple of nights, I'm thinking that sounds good. Perhaps I'll make some buns to go with it! Can you tell I really don't know where this day is going to take me?
Stay safe and dry if you're in the path of either Florence or Gordon and have a marvellous Monday ☂

Tasty--Gordon just arrived here. We'll probably get an inch or so--we are under an areal flood watch for the city because of the possibility of overloaded storm sewers. Thankfully, that's not something that happens in my neighborhood.
I think I may have been the person who mentioned soup for supper. I have a couple of ears of corn to use up so it will probably be corn chowder. I didn't get to make it yesterday and today sounds perfect. I can't believe that my furnace has been kicking in but it feels good on this chilly, damp day.
Hearing about families dealing with tension at funerals reminds me of the dispute that arose between my nephews about what to include in their father's obituary. It got their mother so upset she finally put her foot down and played the mom card. She told them they were making it harder on her, did a little crying, and they backed off. It finally blew over but honestly! I was ready to go after them myself but didn't have to in the end. Families!
Got to shake a leg and get this day going.

Good morning everyone ~ The sun is shining and looks beautiful out there. Red has been out and now fast asleep in the house. He tires easily anymore. Getting like his keeper getting old!!
Will do mowing today and get it done. have wait for all the dew to get off first. This time of year grass gets so wet if it does not rain. Looks like we are in for good weather this week. I have a hair appt. on Tuesday and dentist appt. Wednesday. So not much else going on here. I need to go through my closets and get rid of a lot things. I have two closets and need to make one summer and one winter clothing. Sounds good doesn't it now to make it happen!! That is my goal I am thinking.
Hope everyone has a great day and we hear from the missing people on here.

Good morning friends.
Pouring rain here again today and currently it's 59*. I made a loin of pork last night. It was nice to open a window to let the cool air in and have the oven on.
Elza, I like the counter top.
Tammy, I know how it feels when you get your heart set on something and can't get it. Enjoy the class reunion.
Marlene, Not often that we go out and have terrible food but it is disappointing when it has happened. Especially after we've spent a fortune.
It's good to know that I'm not alone when it comes to families who don't talk. I think now we're pretty much done with seeing them anymore. When there are toxic family members and friends, I don't mind cutting them off. Makes life a whole lot easier. Yes Lori, I agree with you, I dread the when the day comes that you have to attend your in-laws funerals.
Tasty, How are your DS and DDIL doing these days?
Porterhouse steaks for dinner tonight. They are on sale this week. I do love red meat.
Busy week ahead for me. Youngest DD has a game one night, then I have oldest DD back to school night. I also have to make a cheesecake for my nieces baby shower this Saturday (my nephews wife). Her mother wants a pink and white dessert theme. I also have to make sausage, peppers and onions for my friend's daughter's baby shower on Sunday.
Enjoy your day.

Afternoon, friends! It's cool and cloudy today with Gordon's rain moving in by mid-afternoon. We're meeting friends for lunch today so we may have supper or not depending on what we get. Elza - Love your counter top choice. I have similar except that it's dark green. Our house is over 100 years old, and in the pantry I have some of the old built in stuff, but the kitchen has white laminate stock cabinets. I would dearly love to replace them. The counter is a double pass through connecting the two rooms. That I like, but it's showing signs of wear. Nancy - I like a good steak, too. Well, it's time to get a wiggle on. So glad it's chilly out; I can wear jeans!!!! Back later. Waving!

It's cool and cloudy today with Gordon's rain moving in by mid-afternoon. . . .So glad it's chilly out; I can wear jeans!!!! Well, Ann, it is nearly noon and still only 51 here. The furnace has been kicking in regularly all morning. It is raining steadily with gusty winds. We haven't been hit with the heavier rain yet--it's just plain wet and miserable. The storm is moving very slowly. Since you have been wanting jeans weather, I think I'll blame this on you! LOL! It'll find you eventually. To think it was just last week that we were under a heat advisory! If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute. Birdy

Hello all.
Nice day here although a bit hot.
DD and I dropped the dog at the groomer this morning and we went to Trader Joe's. It was a bit crowded for my taste so I just got what I needed and left. We picked up lunch and came home. Youngest dd will be getting out of school soon as she has early release on Mondays.
For dinner I am making pizza. One veggie and one pepperoni. I think Poppy is coming over later. She is starting to look like my son. Changing every day.
Yesterday I made pumpkin bread and a batch of cookies. DD has a fridge/freezer/microwave combo in her dorm so she can take cookies with her and keep them in her freezer.
I hope everyone that is having bad weather or may soon is safe.
Have a great day. Betsy

Hi all! Elza, that is a very nice countertop. I'm glad I don't have to decide on new counters. I am not crazy about granite, but I like the durability of them.
Sounds like you will be quite busy in the kitchen, Nancy.
I have brownies baking now for the coffee shop. I need to frost some cupcakes that I have had in the freezer, and probably bake something else for them. I will take them over tomorrow.
I decided on ribs tonight. I was going to make them tomorrow but now we will be going out to eat with Carl and Marge Tuesday evening. We both leave Thursday. Not sure how soon they will be moving back here. For tonight I will also cook some red cabbage.
Today has been overcast all day. Houston has flash flood advisories, but most of the rain seems to be moving NE and we are to the NW, so I don't think we'll get much if any today.
Speaking of soup, I saw there is a new thread collecting soup recipes. I posted a favorite of ours, tortilla soup. I am going to put it on the menu when we get back home from Oklahoma.
Waving to all! Thinking of those who have not been able to post recently.

Good evening friends. I have been busy and just have not felt like talking much. A good friend of mine was killed (and her husband) on their motorcycle and in about 10 minutes after their accident a good friend of mine's son had a motorcycle accident and was airlifted too. He has a long road of recovery ahead of him. he just turned 20. The other couple, he died instantly and she was airlifted but later passed at the hospital. They leave behind 2 young kids. So sad.
I am sorry to sound like Debbie downer but this seems like my life right now.
I do hope you all are having a better day and continue to have a better day!
I too saw the soup thread and am wishing that DS and I had written down the "recipe" we made up to make a cream of mushroom soup on Saturday. Was delish!

A great big hug coming your way (((Chris))).
Well, I ran into town this morning and picked up a few things. A trip over to the mainland I decided can wait until Wednesday.
Supper will be some hamburger soup I found in the freezer, with a loaf of sour dough bread.
It has been raining all day and is expected to last well into the evening - not been really heavy, more like steady and we need it!

Hugs to you Chris. I am so sorry about the sorrow you are feeling, with the loss of friends. It is so tragic. I will remember you and others in my prayers.
Elza is watching Florence and we here in Texas are watching the possibility of Isaac coming our way. Ugh.
Supper is nearly ready, so need to run.

(((Chris))) You don't have to apologize to us. We are sad that you are hurting and appreciate you letting us know. Sometimes you have those days -- weeks -- months when you just don't want to answer the phone or open a message or email because you're afraid of getting more bad news. Just know that we care and we're thinking of you.
Florence is looking pretty bad. DH talked to his mom last night but she didn't know what her son & daughter and their families were going to do. Last year she came up here but we had just as bad wind and rain as they did, so I don't know what they'll end up doing. It looks like we will have a very wet and windy weekend, though.
Tomato soup and grilled ham & cheese sandwiches for our dinner tonight. I haven't done that in a while and it sure sounds good.

Scary hurricanes headed in all directions! Hope every body stays safe. Chris, I know that sometimes you can't find happy no matter how hard you try. I am hugging you close.
I had the pressure washer guy here today for the lanai pavers and cage. It looks so good now but the pool is a mess with the run-off. I have the pool guy coming tomorrow for that. Weather was in the 90's with 73% humidity today. It's just like a super hot wall hits you when you go outside.
Supper was roast beef hash and sliced tomatoes. I have to roll out the trash tonite. I heard the lightning alarms going off awhile ago but so far no rain here. It's a good idea to get the trash bin out before the downpour. I better get moving. Sweet dreams.

(((Chris))), I am so sorry. Poor thing, you just can't seem to catch a break lately. Know we are here for you and are praying for brighter days ahead.
Got a last minute call for subbing in kindergarten today. Hopefully the children enjoyed the day as much as I did!
Lots of drama earlier this evening with DH's family, so dinner was late. We had pasta with roasted veggies--zucchini, squash, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, and grape tomatoes. Was tasty.
Doing a quick load of whites this evening before I turn into bed. While waiting I will read--would like to finish the last 50 pages of my book.

Hope everyone will be safe in these storms. Felt guilty as today was a beautiful day here. Will be thinking of all of you.
Chris so sorry for your loss of friends. You are in my prayers and hugs to you. Is hard to loose good friends. I love motorcycles and loved to ride but know some people just don't see them. Those days are over for me but did really enjoy those days as I am sure you guys too. (((HUGS)))
Everyone stay safe!!
