((((Hugs)))) to you Chris. It has been a tough year for your family. Just hold on to your good memories. Prayers being said for your family.
Will go to town today and get my pills and the few things I forgot the other day. Chuck came and cleaned out my lawn mower and picked up his roast and veggies.
Will try to do some wash today and get that caught up. Not much else happening today.

I'll add my hugs as well.
We got a break in the heat last night with a nice rain--no strong storms. It'll be in the 70's today and tomorrow. From there, who knows? The humidity is heading down which is also very welcome.
My yellow tomato was good but they don't really have the depth of flavor of the red. So I may buy a nice ripe red one to indulge in. I'm taking Zyrtec for my ragweed symptoms--perhaps it works for tomatoes too! LOL! It isn't that bad, actually, but annoying. I just can't pass up beautiful ripe tomatoes.
Tammy--you've been really giving your instant pot a workout. You could have done that bean soup from the beginning under pressure--or wasn't that an option at the time? How do you like the pot. I see you are using it as a slow cooker, too. I haven't tried that yet. Do you think it cooks the same as a regular slow cooker? It really clears a space on the counter to be able to do both with the same appliance.
Ann--I felt so bad reading about the kids . . . and teachers . . . who were on lock down in those terrible temperatures. Hope they catch up with the guy who caused it all. Not quite the same thing, but an area college here was on lock down because of a shooter threat that kept people hiding in their classrooms for the good part of the day. They traced the threat to one of the students who was hiding out with everyone else. They threw the book at him, he's had his trial and received 4 years but is appealing it. Since that incident and another one in a high school called in by a former student who received jail time, too, we haven't had a problem with false alarms locally in any of the schools.
I went to make supper last night and couldn't turn on my gas stove. The ignitor was clicking but no burners lit--nor with a match. I panicked--I thought something had happened to the gas line to the stove. I went out the back door to sniff for gas and found a note. National Grid had been there in the middle of the afternoon and replaced my gas meter outside. I was home but upstairs working and didn't hear the door bell. So, I had to call their 800 number to get someone there to turn the gas back on--they wouldn't do it without anyone home because of pilot lights. I was amazed that it only took 20 minutes for a crew to show up. The ironic thing is that neither my hot water nor furnace nor stove have pilot lights! Anyway, I have a nice new meter but it would have been nice to know ahead of time. They told me that they do a lottery in January and randomly pick a certain number of meters to replace every year. Good to know. I never win anything--it figures this time I did! LOL!
Have a good day.

Afternoon, friends! Day three of horrible weather is, hopefully, on its way out later tonight. Whew! Forecasters this morning said this summer has, so far had 40 "icky" days; the usual is under 20. It will cool out, but will come back on Monday for most of next week. Besty - I just got an news email about the Hampton Beach Legionnaire's Disease. One person has now died and many more are infected. It's an interesting article. LinkBirdy - I picked up three red tomatoes along with some beets and a nice zucchini that I'm going to spiralize. The lady at the checkout put the beets on top of the tomatoes!!! UGH! One was crushed!!! I used it in the mixed vegetable salad for tonight. Chris - Good to see you. Will continue good thoughts and prayers to get you through this ordeal. I lost my DB two years ago Memorial Day weekend...he was only 64. I know how difficult it is especially when it's sudden. DH is cooking "Skillet Chicken Parmesan" from Parade magazine. I cooked whole wheat rotini (which we'll have for at least 2 more meals!), and made that salad. Nancy - Thinking of you and family, too. Lori - The wicked bad man (LONG rap sheet) was captured after 5 hours searching. Kids were finally allowed to be picked up by parents, and some were driven home by the police. One of my friends at the senior center was affected; her husband couldn't get home because of all of the road blocks! Your supper last night sounded yummy. I have to straighten the kitchen so DH can move in! Enjoy the rest of the day. Waving!

Good afternoon friends.
Ann, I agree with everyone else! very scary.
(((Chris)))Take a deep breath and rest when you can my friend.
Betsy, I had to LOL when your DS and DDIL said that Poppy screams all the time but she doesn't do it at your house. Oldest DD did that to us.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We still don't know how BIL died. Long family saga that I just can't get into . DH is devastated. His brother lived down the shore so we didn't see him much at all.
Birdy, What a nuisance on the meter and gas.
I had to work today and it's so hot in the kitchen. We had our annual meeting and received new uniforms. Same style, just that we get new clothes beginning of every school year. Then our food delivery came so we had to pack all of that up.
After that I took youngest DD to the dentist and then Chinese food for lunch.
I'm making cheese cavatelli tonight with sauce and a salad. Too darn hot for me.
Have to run for now.
Nancy

Good afternoon friends. Today is National Toasted Marshmallow Day.
(((Chris))) and (((Nancy))), sending warm thoughts, big hugs, and healing prayers to you both of you and your families.
Nancy, despite the hot weather, hope you enjoyed the first day back to work. What is your uniform like? Here the ladies and gentlemen have a new tee-shirt for Fridays, but M-Th they have a polo shirt. The tee-shirt is from the school itself, but the polo is a county-wide one they wear in the lunchrooms; bottoms are tan or black slacks. I personally like the polo shirts better, but I guess they wanted something for a dress-down Friday.
Ann, so glad they captured the guy! Although I have been in quite a few lock downs, never for 5 hours. That would be just terrible, esp. with a class of young ones.
Birdy, I've never tried a yellow tomato, but I'd like to. Tomatoes (actually no veggie) down here has, IMO, has a depth of flavor because it is grown in such sandy soil. After 35 years living down here, I eat them, but it's just not the same as up north. When we go back to Michigan to visit family, I can't tell you how much we enjoying eating our fruits and veggies. Also, because we grow so much fruit and veggies here, you'd think our produce would be cheaper, but we, and anyone who visits, are shocked at the prices we pay. One of the reasons I look at all the store ads and shop the sales for the produce.
Tammy, hope it was a good day for you at the resale shop.
Marlene, hope you were able to get things caught up around the house today.
Betsy, I see you have family living where this Legionnaire's case is--how terrible! I've never been to California, so I don't know the area, but was praying this will not be anywhere near your DD will be attending college.
Thought of all of you instant pot ladies this morning. I saw Martha Stewart on the Today show and she was showing all the things you can do with the pot. They mentioned that you could go to the website and get her recipes.
Well, after maybe 25 years, we are finally getting ready of our landline next week when we get a new, up-dated wireless alarm system for the house. Today I began the task of alling doctors, insurance, friends, etc. to let them know of the change. I have most informed, unless I think of those yet that I forgot. What a job!
There is a tropical wave out there near PR. As of yet, they keep saying they don't think it will develop into anything more, but with the next breath they tell us we need to watch this carefully as it will enter into the Gulf. If nothing more, we'll be sure to at least see an increase in heavy rains and winds on Tuesday or Wednesday since we'll be on the east (right side) of the storm. Exciting! Today it has been pouring cats and dogs for the last 3 hours and tomorrow is going to pretty much be a repeat of today.
Dinner this evening will be a big salad topped with lots of goodies--onions, dried cranberries, beets, apples, chicken, and almonds.
Have a nice evening--waving to all!
Lori

Hi again. Yes, thank you it was a good day at the resale shop. It was pretty much a steady flow all day, no rushes. We seemed to make a lot of small sales, so our total was only $81.25. It is usually closer to $100.00.
I talked to Marge today and also Carl. We are going out to eat with them tonight since tomorrow night we will be packing, we don't get home until Monday night, and I think they leave Tuesday. The good news is they decided to move here and become residents of the Care Center. I think we will be going to eat at Joe's Italian, and Lisa will be coming too.
The package of soup I bought was a slow cooker or a stove top recipe. I did not realize that it said to cook 8-10 hours on slow cook. I put it on about noon and just thought I'd see how well it did. I was leaving the house to go see Helen then over to the center for Carl's concert so did not want the pressure cooking while I was away, so I just finished the soup in the pressure mode. I liked the first bite and so did DH, but after about half a bowl I tossed it. When I got home from playing cards, DH said he only ate about half of his, so I don't need to buy that anymore!
When I got home from cards I baked an almond joy earthquake cake-a recipe I saw on facebook. It sure was good. I snitched a bite out of the corner! I hope to get one more thing baked and delivered to the coffee shop tomorrow.
Our days have been close to 100* and the heat index usually just above 100* but it is finally cooling off some during the evening and night hours. Of course, we are used to these temps. I hope the heat wave breaks sooner rather than later for most of you.
Lori, we are watching that storm too!
Need to go and get a few things done before time to head out. Waving !!

Just popping in quickly. It's been a long, busy but successful day. It was a 'canning' morning, mostly tomato based - salsa, bruschetta and a homemade 'ketchup' tnat is so good - definitley waaay better than Heinz 57🙄 . We also made made a corn relish.
This afternoon I helped hubby clearing some of the scrub behind the house.
Supper was a quickly put together meal of haddock, mashed potatoes and green beans.
Waving to all and hugs to anyone who needs one!
