Good morning! Eyes popped open at 3:30. Had a wonderful night's sleep with the windows open. Except for bringing my mom to be buffed and polished, we have no plans except for going to the senior center...DH will walk outside, and I will open the walk-fit class. Today we will do the aerobic walk using the "stretchy bands". It's a two mile walk lasting 30 minutes. Have a great day! Will check in later. Waving!

Ann, that sounds like a great start to your day (the walk, not the 3:30 wakeup)! We are finally having some cool mornings down here and it is a welcome relief.
Nancy, enjoying my coffee this morning. I like the new coffeemaker -- brews very fast and very hot, the way I like it.
Lori, I was just reading a story on the news about the red tide. What a mess, and with no way to predict when it will end. I know that is a real economic blow to an area that depends so much on tourism.
Tasty, I grew up on grits so I have always loved them. DH, not so much.
A big wave to Marlene, Tammy, Birdy, Bet, and whoever else pops in today. Betsy, you know we are still on baby watch with you -- hoping and praying for baby Poppy!
Have a great Friday, y'all ~

So not seeing Betsy yesterday, I am wondering if we have a new little Poppy in the world! Hope so!
Ann- I am liking the cooler nights but my asthma has been so bad we have had to close the windows and use the air cleaner. I have been able to breathe for the last 2 nights. Thank Goodness.
Elza- I love grits! Glad the coffee maker is working to your satisfaction. Have a great Friday!
Chris (had her usual for the morning 2x)

Good morning everyone ~~~ I have a meatloaf all mixed up in a pan and in fridge to bake later with baked potato and will make a corn casserole with corn muffin mix. I have never been in love with it but will try it again and make two little ones, one for me and one for Chuck. He came over and got my dehumidifier going in the basement last night. Made a little pan of meatloaf for me and will myself a baked sweet potato so that will be supper. Chuck also brought me a pan of tomatoes. Been eating one with every meal, so good!
We did get a little rain during night, everything was wet. Had to wash Red's paws and he is getting use to that. He has to cover his nasties he makes!!
Poor Hawaii is sure getting blasted. Feel sorry for people on vacation there and sure there are many.
Better get my house floors cleaned up so it looks like someone lives here!!

I was hoping to hear baby news this morning, myself! I've been out and about and haven't been posting much but have been checking in on my tablet to see what's going on. Last night was the second in a row that was wonderfully cool. I slept well--in fact, it's a little hard getting up with first light coming later all the time.
I went grocery shopping at Walmart yesterday for the first time in a long time. I usually shop at Hannaford's but they've been making some changes that I don't like--products disappearing that I relied on and produce being a little iffy. I'm sorry to see that--they've been my go-to market for years. Hope this isn't a sign of something serious. There are a few things I can find at Walmart that I can't at other markets but I really try to give my business to family markets and locals when I can. Besides, when I shop at Walmart I end up buying other things, too. It can get expensive! :)
I have to make something with the peaches I bought earlier in the week. They are ripening fast. I always look forward to local peaches every year, but the season is short for us. I need to get some more sweet corn, too, before that season is over as well.
It's hard to believe that Labor Day is coming soon. Our kids don't go back until September 5. One year they tried to start before Labor Day to pad out the calendar in case of snow days. It didn't work well at all. There were too many parents who used the Labor Day weekend as vacation time and just kept their kids out. People weren't very happy at all and they didn't try it again! Our school didn't have A/C--very few in upstate NY do, if any. It always turned out nasty hot when we returned no matter how cool August might have been. I enjoyed the kids, but the uncomfortable classroom temp was one of the things that I don't miss about teaching, along with testing, marking, grading, and inservice teacher training which often turned out to be a total waste of time. I love being retired but I still find myself looking at school supplies out of habit this time of the year! LOL!
Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning friends.
Hope we hear good news from Betsy soon.
Elza, Glad the new coffee pot is working out for you. I checked out Grits and Groceries and seems like a cute place with good home cooked meals. Makes me think of a place not far from us called Anthony's Cheesecakes and they are only open Thursday thru Sunday. They make everything fresh.
Ann, The weather here was gorgeous yesterday. No humidity with a beautiful breeze.
The girls and I are getting hair cuts today and I must admit we sure can use it. There's a TJ Maxx near the place where we get our hair cuts so we'll browse in there too.
Might order dinner tonight.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

YEA! Congratulations to mom & dad and of course grandmother Betsy!!! Happy for you! Pictures soon, I hope. My friend on the TOH Field Editors' page posted this "funny". Thought I'd share.
1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator? Stop and think about it and decide on your answer before you scroll down.
The correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way. 2 How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?
Did you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator? Wrong Answer. Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions. 3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend except one. Which animal does not attend? Correct Answer : The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there. This tests your memory. Okay, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities. 4. There is a river you must cross but it is used by crocodiles, and you do not have a boat. How do you manage it? Correct Answer: You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes. According to Anderson Consulting Worldwide, around 90% of
Professionals they tested got all questions wrong, but many preschoolers got several correct answers. Anderson Consulting says this conclusively disproves the theory that most professionals have the brains of a four-year-old.

Grandma Betsy - sounds pretty good eh, Betsy? Congrats to the new Mom & Dad. Hopefully she will be a very contented little girl. When will Mom & baby get to go home?
A lovely day here, warm and sunny, with low humidity - my kind of day. We golfed this morning and grabbed a quick lunch on the way home. This evening we will go out to celebrate hubby's birthday. No cooking! Have a lovely day 🙋 .

Congratulations Betsy! So happy for your family, and that you were able to be in the room. I was there when the youngest 4 were born and it's is amazing. No other love like it! Take lots of photos because you can't believe how fast they change.
Thanks for the smiles Ann! I woke up at 3:30 yesterday, so last night took a sleeping pill.
Elza, glad you enjoyed the meal and evening with friends. I think I have heard of that restaurant before and looked at their website. I never had grits growing up so am not a fan but DH likes them.
Good to hear from you Doris.
Tasty, happy birthday to DH. Have a wonderful dinner.
Chris, sorry you are having to deal with asthma.
Waving to everyone. I had a nice day going down to the next town for lunch at Arby's, and we went by Walgreens (our small town does not have one), also 2 resale shops. I got a top at one, and Helen found 5 tops. At the other I found a pretty footed glass dish that matches a casserole dish that I have.
Supper tonight will be a baked pork tenderloin stuffed with a wild rice stuffing. We had the mashed cauliflower casserole last night. Surprisingly DH did like it but I did not. For sides I am probably going to cook some Green Giant spiralized butternut squash ribbons.
It is still very hot and sunny here, in the high 90's, but we have a 40% chance of rain coming Monday and Tuesday.

Congratulations, Betsy! How wonderful to have that sweet little bundle in your arms at last.
Supper tonite was a BLT sandwich with coleslaw. Beautiful nectarine for dessert. Now, what to do with the yummy bacon grease? ;)
Sweet dreams.

Betsy, congratulations!! God is blessing you with the opportunity to do one of the most fun jobs in life--being a grandparent. Now that little Poppy has arrived, you'll never be the same person you were before because when a grandchild takes their first breath it takes your breath away. Again, congrats-so very happy for you!
Long day at school--very needy group of 11 rowdy boys and 6 girls, just a loud and wild as the boys. Sadly the teacher had nothing set up, no papers, the computer wasn't working, and the Red Tide was so bad we couldn't even have recess. I was tired and felt like I was at war at 3:45, but I was smiling when I walked out the door.
Had to go do early voting and shop for a few items at BJ's after work. On the way home I stop at a Bar-B-Q food truck. The people had at one time many years ago had their own restaurant here in town. It was always great and we were sad when they closed their doors. Now they have placed all that great food into a truck--dinner was baby back ribs, beans, and coleslaw. Yum--they still have wonderful food and we enjoyed it.
Waving to all. I need to go work on my menu and grocery shopping list (unless I fall asleep first). I was up at 3:30 this morning too.
