Right now, what's cooking in my kitchen is bacon and sausage. :) DS#1 and I are drinking coffee while he has Morning Prayer and I'm getting breakfast ready. I very rarely cook a big breakfast but this is the perfect time to do it. Scrambled eggs, biscuits, and blueberry muffins, along with the rest of the fruit in the refrigerator -- green grapes and cherries. Sounds pretty good to me!

Hi everyone! I am able to post in gorgeous color again! Not sure why it never would let me for a few days. This is still my old computer. I don't like changes, so am resisting the swap. I did use the new one to check my email, since this old computer is no longer receiving email.
DH woke up very early but came back to bed, so we both slept in. I called Helen since she was wanting to go and shop today. She has some other close friends coming by today, so I won't be taking her anywhere.
I need a few things from the store and am going to make some beef barley soup for church tomorrow. For dessert I am also going to make a TOH recipe for no cook coconut pie, but double the recipe and make it in a large flat dish.
I have some pork chops thawed out so will make Avidcook's pork chops with gravy. I have those ingredients and have half a bag of potatoes so I can make mashed potatoes.
I'd love a few bites of your breakfast Elza!
A couple at our church owns a construction company, and they are joining in with a local restaurant to have a drive to collect back to school supplies for underprivileged kids in town. So, I need to run by Walmart and get some school kits and drop those off. If I time it right maybe DH and I can get lunch at the Pit Stop. Here's hoping anyway!

Bacon and sausage sound pretty good to me, too! And biscuits . . . and muffins . . . I can almost smell it. LOL!
I was reading the comments about floats from yesterday. Root beer floats are one of my favorites but you can pop a hunk of vanilla ice cream on any flavor soda for me and I'd be happy. In fact, I keep those "Dixie" cups of vanilla in the freezer for myself for when I get a hankering. The ice cream stays fresher when it's just me--then I don't have to use the excuse that I have to use it up before it gets crystals. LOL! The games we play with ourselves when we need an excuse to pig out!
Ann--I haven't heard anyone mention Thatcher Park in a long time. Being close to the Adirondacks, I don't find myself heading that direction often. But back in the dark ages, SUNY at Albany was where I got my BS and MS. One of our favorite things to do on the weekends in good weather was to pack a lunch and our books and drive up the escarpment to the park for the day. If I recall, unless we wanted to use the pool (which isn't there anymore) we didn't even have to pay admission to spread out on the lawn or walk the trails. I'm not sure we hit the books much there but it made us feel better to bring them. LOL! And I had a wonderful science professor who was stuck with teaching "Science for Business Majors" which no one else wanted. He took us on a field trip to the Indian Ladder Trail to look for fossils and other goodies. Good memories.
I've done my whale watching out of Boston--I was one of the chaperones for a group of kids from our high school. We had to leave practically in the middle of the night to get there on time. One of the other teachers and I brought our ginger with us because it was pretty choppy so we didn't have any problems with getting seasick, but just about all of the kids decided they were going to and did! So, they were below deck while we had a ball watching the whales. Some day, I'll have to try it again without a gang of seasick teenagers along! LOL!
It's raining right now--wasn't supposed to be today. I was going to mow the lawn this morning so that chore is out--hopefully it will be dry enough tomorrow. If I don't do it then, it may be another week since we have a chance of rain every single day. Of course, with the luck we've been having with rain I may not have to worry.
I should shake a leg. The morning has gotten away from me. Have a good day, everyone.
Birdy

Have been up and made to of the bars this morning. I did the lemon bar and Special K bar. will do Rice Krispie bar in morning. The layer of peanut butter cups might make it soggy so will do in morning.
Got the lawn mowed last night and glad that is done. We have a chance for rain Monday and we sure need it. The weeds keep growing so will have to load up my spray and get on golf cart and get to spraying. My ditch out by the road has been sprayed 3 times and ready again. Ronnie was here and mowed on south side of my garage and he will bale that for his cows. It goes down where Jeff farms my ground so gives him quite a few bales.
Gloria is coming out and we will go to Larsen's pub and have supper tonight. We both sit home and never go hardly at night so will do that. They have good sandwiches and sides to go with it. So should have a good visit.
Elza your breakfast sounds good this morning. Nice to hear you are can enjoy having your boys home for week-end. I usually fix a casserole for breakfast that has to sit overnight and bake in morning when my kids are home. Easier for me.
Tammy your soup sounds good too. I love Barley in my soup. I have John's recipe from TOH too that I make. You spoke about Avidcook...wonder how she is doing? She went and had the surgery to lose weight and never did hear how she came out.
Well better get something else done around the house. Have a great week-end!!

Hello friends. I'm taking a quick break from doing the bedding and soon I will start dinner.
Today is National Raspberry Tart Day. No where growing up back in Michigan, nor down here in Florida do I ever remember tarts being popular. However, I loved when we went over to Canada when I was growing up. My Aunt always served them and while traveling in both Ontario and Quebec, I remember all the bakeries selling them. Does anyone here make tarts? My youngest brother who always loved pie over cake called them his mini-pies.
When I got up this morning thunder was banging, so I skipped going to the Farmers Market. Smart thing since it has been pouring rain since around 10AM. Instead I went grocery shopping. DH was lucky enough to get the yard mowed, but not able to use the weed wacker.
Tammy, thank you for donating school supplies for children in need. Having taught school for so many years, I do the same at the beginning of the school year. Now since I've retired and gone back to subbing, I take in supplies throughout the year too.
Elza, what a nice breakfast you made this morning--you had my lips licking!
Birdy, we weren't suppose to have rain either today. Hopefully tomorrow you can take care of your lawn.
Marlene, enjoy dinner out tonight and your time with your friend Gloria. I haven't heard anything from/about Lynn (Avidcook) since the end of TOH. I remember her mentioning she was on Facebook, so maybe she is on the TOH Facebook site. She was a nice gal and I miss hearing about her grandchildren--gee, they both must be in school by now.
Betsy, speaking of grandchildren, how much longer now until little Poppy arrives? I'm so happy for you!
Wanted to grill something for dinner, but it's coming down so hard, I won't even attempt it on the lanai. Instead I will make mini chicken pot pies with Grands biscuits and have a side salad.
Bye for now. Waving to all!
Lori

Afternoon, friends! It's raining cats and dogs here, too! It was supposed to be "scattered, intermittent showers!!! Avidcook is a field editor and is on TOH Volunteer Field Editors Facebook. She is well, and, if I remember correctly, she just welcomed another grandchild. She moved from GA to CA. She is also a member of "Cooks' Corner" which is made up of many TOH community members. If you are on FB you can join this private group. She recently made a delicious looking strawberry dessert. Tonight, I made an ATK test recipe for Spaghetti Aglio e Olio. We will have some with shake 'n bake chicken breasts. I used homemade shake 'n bake. We'll also have steamed Brussels sprouts. I earned two halos this morning. Made up mom's guest room bed (because my brother is staying overnight with mom while we attend an anniversary gathering on Friday) which was a bear to make because one whole side is against the far wall of the small room which leaves no room to "go around". She commented that the "King Coil" mattress on the guest room bed might be better than her "new" one. So I exchanged both...had to pull both the whole length of the house!!! Otherwise, today, I spent time rearranging stuff in the freezers and making accurate lists. Almost done with that! Elza - Yum! Mom and I have weekend breakfasts...bacon, eggs, fried onions (sometimes), toast, tomatoes, and good coffee. Glad to read that you can relax and enjoy! Lori - Pot pie with Grands sounds delicious. Marlene - Enjoy supper out! Birdy - Never took kids out on a boat, but another team did. I remember watching a bunch of "green" adults and kids getting off the school bus when they returned one day! Tammy - DH is not a fan of change, either. So, when we got the new Acer laptop, he "gave" it to me, and he kept the Lenovo. LOL! Now he likes mine because there are better games available!!! Can you post Lynne's pork chop recipe when you have time, please? I have some potatoes to use so will make "Bangers and Mash" tomorrow. Wasn't that "somethin" about the guy stealing the stolen airplane? Rain has stopped for now; still muggy so it looks like AC for tonight. I'd so prefer open windows!!! Have a great evening! Waving!

Here you go...
4 pork chops 1 cream of chicken soup 1 envelope pork gravy mix 1 soup can water 1/2 of an onion, chopped
Dredge meat in flour; brown in a little oil in a skillet. Season to taste. Remove from pan and set aside. Add onion to pan; cook for 1-2 minutes to soften. Add soup, water, gravy mix; stir. Place meat back in pan. Cover and reduce heat to low. Let cook about 20 minutes or until meat is tender.
I see Lynne post every so often on the facebook TOH forum. As far as I can tell she is doing fine.

Hello all.
We have a bit of a plumbing nightmare going on. Hopefully, it will be resolved on Monday. Main line has a leak so it needs to be rerouted and replaces. Not what I had planned right now as we never plan on these things happening.
Lori, it could be any day for Poppy. She is not due for ten days though.
We went out to eat today for burgers and fries and took DDIL as my son was working. Tomorrow I am going to treat her to a pedicure.
Waving to all.
Betsy
