Good morning, friends! Yesterday DH & I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary -- he sent flowers to me at work, and we went out for a lovely dinner last night. We had talked on Saturday about going out, and I told him I wanted to get dessert at Sullivan's. He said, "Don't you want to eat dinner there too?" I said, "That would be okay, but I really want dessert!" So we had both. :) DH had his favorite ribeye steak, with crispy potatoes and a mushroom sauce, and I had goat-cheese-stuffed pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes and balsamic onions. When my plate first came out, I wasn't sure what those black things were! But when I realized they were onions, and tried some -- oh my -- so tangy and delicious. And dessert there is always wonderful -- they have an assortment of house-made cakes, pies and cheesecakes. My choice was the lemon-blueberry-mascarpone layer cake and it was perfect. We'd had that the last time we ate there, and I was hoping it would be available again because it was so good! Light and not too sweet. We had a nice chat on the phone with DS#1 last night too, so it was good to hear about what he's doing in his parish assignment this summer. It sounds like he's staying very busy but also sounds like he is really enjoying it. He has two more weeks there and then he'll come to SC. After that he'll start his last year of seminary! DS#2 is planning to come too so I'm very much looking forward to having them both here for a visit. Back down to earth for our dining tonight -- I'm putting chicken and bbq sauce in the crockpot. Have a great day!

Going to go to have blood work and stop and sign more papers at the ASCS office and see my lawyer at 10:00. Then can come home and do whatever today like clean my kitchen. I made 4 batches of jam yesterday. Still have more rhubarb to use up.
Have a trip planned for tomorrow and asked Gloria to go with me. Will go to Hobby Lobby and Sam's and out to eat. I do need to go to Dollar Store and get more Sympathy cards. They have them reasonable and are nice. Two cards at Hallmark are over $10. Can't do that all the time I watch my money closer than that.
Elza Happy Anniversary to you and your DH. Sounds like a good meal and dessert also. Nice you could make plans to spend it out together. Will be nice to have the boys come home too. We like to have them home for a visit.
You all take care and have a nice wonderful day!!

Good morning.
It's so hot here. I feel bad for dd as she started school yesterday. The school is air conditioned but they are outside for lunch and changing classes. She had a great first day and is happy with her teachers. She had homework last night in bio already. She has one of my her sister's teachers from 9th grade. Some off her new teachers asked her if she was Camille's sister.
I think I will plan on using up leftovers tonight. Hoping the power stays on the county.
I have dentist appt this morning for a cleaning. Other than that I plan on hibernating.
Happy anniversary, Elza. Sounds like you had a lovely meal.
Waving to all. Betsy

Good Morning !
Elza, so glad you had a wonderful evening out. Your meals sound lovely.
The ac man sent a note to DH yesterday and said he would come at 6 a.m. today, yesterday it was way too hot to climb up on the roof in the afternoon. I woke up at 4:30 and did not go back to sleep so I got up at 5. He did not show until 7...typical contractor!
He messed around on things looking then had to leave to go get a meter. He came back at 9:30, and now the meter isn't working! Grr..
Other than that it is a nice morning since it is overcast and wont' be quite as hot today. We even have a very slight chance of showers later on.
OK...we put new batteries in the meter so maybe it will work now.
Marlene, I would like to make a trip to Hobby Lobby or Michaels too! I need supplies for cake balls. Walmart has some stuff that will work but I like the ones I got at Michaels much better. For me it is 45 minutes away. DH says to order online, but I haven't done that yet. Enjoy your outing.
Betsy, glad that DD is happy so far with school.
I think we will be going over to DS's in Austin for Labor Day. They are doing some redecorating of the church. They have always had pews, but since they raised the money for new carpet, they are also going with individual chairs and get rid of the pews.
Supper tonight will be pork enchilada casserole. There are several green tomatoes that I think I will pick and do fried green tomatoes. Things seem to start eating them as soon as they start to turn pink.
I have the cake ball dough in the freezer firming up, so will get those made a little later today and drop those off , and will also go see Helen. Last I heard she will be coming home Thursday or Friday.
Waving to everyone! Have a good day!

Happy Anniversary, Elza. I'm so glad you had a lovely meal and evening out. What a sweetie your DH is to send you flowers.
I had blood work today, too, Marlene. Then it was home for more sorting and interviewing moving companies. $$$$ We had spaghetti for supper and now I'm ready to relax. Sweet dreams.

Altho the morning was dry, it really has been a damp day. I did some grocery shopping this morning for ourselves and visited a couple of farm stalls to pick up veggies for canning this week. When it started to rain, I decided to pickle the peas I had bought. They are now all done and sealed. Just need to cool down and then I can move them to the basement, until the Festival of Trees in November.
However, having spent the afternoon doing the peas, supper is going to be cabbage rolls from the freezer. This is the last of what I made last fall - guess it must be time to make another batch!
Have a good evening 🙋

When I had time this afternoon I wrote a longer post, but when I went to "create post", it came up that there were problems and to come back later. I'm here, but really haven't got time to write much now.
Dinner was a pot roast with gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, and zucchini boats. Early this morning I baked chocolate cupcakes and made cream cheese frosting for the dessert.
Waving to all!
Lori
P.S.----Happy Anniversary Elza and DH.

Checking back in for the evening to see what all of you have been up to.
Tammy, are without AC totally? I have ours turned up to 68 at the moment as we are on a flex alert.
The dentist went fine but I have to go back in a few weeks for the permanent crown. I feel like I am always at the dentist. LOL
Lori, your cupcakes sounds wonderful. I am craving something sweet.
Helen, have you sold your house already? I am happy you will be close to your family.
I guess I better see about warming up leftovers soon and making a salad. :)
Have a great night.

We have the ac in the living area, it's a year old. It is the bedroom ac that is not working.
Oh, I forgot to mention the boneless ribs we had last night, cooked in the Instant Pot. They were awesome! I rubbed them down with seasoning. Then I poured about 1/2 cup of bbq sauce in the bottom of the pot, put the meat in, cooked for 25 minutes with natural release. So tender and yummy.
