Good morning friends.
Lori, The heat in your area would make me nauseous. I hope you get cooler temps soon.
I've been thinking about Helen. I can't help but feel something sad has happened.
(((Doris))) So sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. I love the story though about you and your DH in the Dr.s office though.
Elza, My friend gave me a crock pot, it's quite new. It's bigger than the one I have so I will be looking for recipes. Not too many as DH is not a fan of food cooked in the crock pot. However, on days when I don't have time to prep, I will use it.
Jolee, What did you end up making for dinner last night?
Marlene, Yes, DH had the laparoscopic surgery. He said later in the day he got a shot in his stomach! They said it was so the blood would coagulate O_o .
DH didn't sleep good last night but that's too be expected. He can relax all day though.
I must get moving here.
I have boneless chicken cutlets marinating in Italian dressing for dinner tonight.
Waving to all.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

Good morning friends. Wishing each of you a beautiful day.
Never got back here last night--way too much going on. First off, we had a very strong thunderstorm filled with bone rattling thunder and lightning. In between, my phone job app was ringing with jobs--will be working a PM in 1st grade today, and also picked up 2 full days of 1st grade for Thursday and Friday. Then I was cooking away in the kitchen--made meatloaf, a rice and carrot casserole, and a green pea salad. When it was all done and made, both DH and I were so tired, neither of us felt like a big meal. We had a bowl of cereal, cup of hot tea, and said we'd have the meal today. So dinner is ready.
Nancy, yes, I too wish we'd see some cooler temperatures. There is a cool front moving down the state on Thursday, but it's expected to stall north of Tampa, so we won't see any change here. Expecting strong thunderstorms once again today only adding fuel to the sauna like conditions.
I too hope we'll hear something, anything, from Helen soon. My dream I had about her seemed so real and scary--I'm very concerned about both her and her DH.
Need to get a few things done here around the house before I have to leave. DH will only be working until 10:30 this morning--he has a dentist appointment this afternoon. Take care everyone.
Lori

Good morning, all,
It was so nice here yesterday that I spent the afternoon washing windows. I should have been washing the windshield on the car. When I drove to Great Bend yesterday I could hardly see because it was so distracting.
I have been eating fast food for two days because I need to share with the cat, lol. She's been at the vets for 5 days and won't eat, they called me and begged me to bring over anything that might tempt her. Last night she had some Wendy's burger and the night before Dairy Queen chicken, so maybe that will do the trick. I have ham and scalloped potatoes in the crock pot , hoping I get to try some of it tonight!
Nancy, usually that injection in the stomach is a blood thinner. Hope your DH is soon back to normal.
Lori, sometimes a big bowl of cereal just hits the spot. I crave raisin bran crunch and add extra raisins .
The dryer is calling me, so everybody enjoy your day

Good morning. 47 and mostly sunny this morning. Unfortunately I would get to enjoy much of it except from the car. Have a lot of running around to do today and it all going to cost me big bucks. Need to pay my school taxes and the oil company. Need to get to the bank to make some changes on my 401K. Going to try to live without drawing on it for a while. This should be interesting with Christmas coming up but I am determined. Yesterday was spent in the kitchen as planned. The only thing I didn't do was make the Deli rye dough. Decided to hold off on that for a week or so. Did do some other things that weren't planned so was busy there all day. Dinner was OK last night. I think I used a different marinade for the lamb yesterday and it didn't make as tender as it should have. Tzatziki sauce wasn't as good as I thought it would be. However the meal turned out pretty on the plate. Won't be here in the morning as I have to leave early to go to a reception for the President of Lions Clubs International. I much rather stay home and get things done but being a Past District Governor I have obligations once in a while. Have a great day. Bet

Good Tuesday morning to everyone. It was a very busy day yesterday for me as my granddaughter came over and helped me get a bunch of stuff done.I wanted to keep going to get it done before she had to leave. It seems like the more you try to do the more there is to do--lol.
Nancy we really like to marinate our chicken in Italian dressing before cooking, a favorite way for us. I to worry about Helen, just hoping things are not too bad for her and dear husband. Wishing your husband fast healing without too much pain. Have a good day.
Lori your food you fixed sounds so good. I hope you get relief from the heat soon. Enjoy your day.
Kay raisin bran crunch with extra raisins is a favorite of mine also. I'm sending extra gentle healing hugs your cat to get better soon.Enjoy your day. It won't let me type anymore on this post so guess I will finish on another post.

The phone has been very busy this morning. I called the Chief of the Fire Dept. as were old friends as we worked at locker lots of years. I have to burn the CRP off and I want it to be a controlled burn so he called and came out to look. I just have to donate to them for doing it. Was busy with the ASC office when all this needs done can not let anyone have the hay off it or I will be deducted 25% off the pay I get for having it in CRP. They think I want to sell it, but no I want to give to neighbor for his cows. Talk about waste our government sure does!! Then I have to let it grow and get green and spray it to kill it all. Then might have to spray before planting it again. Then I seed it and have to mow it down after it comes up to reseed it some more. Then in five years I have to go through with something like cultivator and reseed again. It is in for ten years at a time. It can all give you gray hair!!
I just had 1/2 of 1/2 Spaghetti Squash and will eat rest tonight. It is a big one can not eat whole 1/2 of it. But they sure are good. I had the mix left over from stuffed peppers so mixed it with the spaghetti squash and it is filling.
I am going to go out and see if I can get my push lawnmower to run. I have a space on east side that is all new grass and don't want the rider to tear up with the big wheels. So wish me luck!! Was year ago it ran.
Talk to you later. Marlene

Afternoon, friends! Woke up to heavy rain this morning, but now it's partly sunny. Saying prayers that all is OK with dear Helen and DH. Nancy - When I worked, I cooked using a crockpot on the weekends. Sometimes I had three running at once!!! I would cook a whole chicken, a turkey breast, or half-turkey and have a nice dinner then make stuff for lunches. Made soup by using the bones... making bone broth overnight with the poultry bones and a mire poix. (Clinton on The Chew does it with his Thanksgiving turkey.) DH used to make a meatloaf in the crockpot. To me, stew tastes better after it sits (and you can skim fat) in the fridge. I've cooked pork loin, but it cooks really fast even in the crockpot. We'd have a pork dinner and I'd make chop suey or fried rice with leftovers. Here's a link from Eating Well that I just got today. Let me know what your family likes or would try, and I'll search for some recipes. Bet - Your Greek dinner looks delish! What dressing did you use on your salad? Lori - How do you make your green pea salad? I have one that I got from a cooking class that has a Mint dressing. Kay - Ham and scalloped potatoes sounds delicious. I hate it when my windshield is dirty. It's such a pain washing the inside. Hope kitty gets home soon! Doris - Good to see you back; so very sorry about the death of your sister. Betsy - Looking good for the Red Sox! LOL Sara - Glad you got some help with stuff. For some reason, when I cannot type anymore in my reply, I go up and hit the button F with the red circle. I can then type more!!! Have no idea how I even discovered that!!! Marlene- Love spaghetti squash. Cast Iron King just posted a recipe for it with spinach and feta if you (or anyone) is interested. Tonight we are having more of the chicken with coconut/peanut sauce. I didn't have enough of the pilaf left so I cooked a very small amount of a new type of rice I just got...Madagascar Pink Rice. Waving to all!

Hello ! It's a gorgeous day today. We got rain most of the night though.
Today we drove to a nearby town of Manchester, a gorgeous place, and visited Hildene. That is the home of Robert Todd Lincoln, the only son of Abraham Lincoln that survived to adulthood. It was very nice. We got there about noon and stayed about 2 1/2 hours. There is also a visitor center, a goat farm, a Pullman car-totally restored. The Pullman is there because Robert served as President and then Chairman for many years of the Pullman Co. He took over after George Pullman died.
After the tour we drove into town and had a late lunch. I soaked pinto beans overnight and planned on having those for supper but since we ate such a late lunch we will have the beans with some cornbread tomorrow.
Nancy, glad DH is home and recovering. Hope he got to nap today.
Kay, I hope kitty gets well soon and is able to come home.
I had thought about doing some laundry this evening but there is no laundromat here so we would have to drive into town. Somehow I don't think it will happen tonight.
We got a phone call from the Tennessee Natural Wildlife Refuge regarding our application. She checked our references and said we got "glowing" reports. We will be at the main headquarters in July and August, then will move about 40 miles south for the months of September and October. At headquarters we will mostly work at the visitor center, but at the southern unit we will be mostly outside work-mowing, weed eating, spraying herbicide, painting. Everyone we talked to today sounds so nice, we are excited about going there.
Tomorrow we will be continuing the eternal quest to see every covered bridge within a 100 mile radius! Well, not quite, but DH has a route planned out with gps coordinates and we will be gone most of the day.
Waving to everyone!

Friends, I apologize for leaving so abruptly and then not explaining my absence for such a long time. I am very sorry.
On his doctors' orders, my sweet Hubby entered a Memory Care facility early last week. He has been suffering from Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's for seven years and I could no longer keep him safely at home. I am heartbroken. It has taken time to choose just the right place, buy furnishings, etc., and get him moved in. I have been spending as much time as I can with him each day at the facility. It is an adjustment for both of us but I am hoping that in the fullness of time it will be to his benefit. I may be a sporadic poster for awhile but as I develop new routines, I hope to pop in often. Sweet dreams to all.

Nancy- I made my beans in the crockpot today. Put them on this morning and waiting for me when I got home! Yum! I am glad to hear your DH is healing well!
Lori- I see you are going to be very busy for a few days! And I am glad the storm caused no damage to you! I would love your temps! What are they like in February?
Kay- My windshield was a mess after the long drive this last week end. That is sweet that your cat wants to eat with you! How is she doing now? Better I hope.

((Helen)) so sorry for all you have been through recently with your DH. We had to do the same thing with my Dad and it was very hard, especially at the beginning. However, as he got used to his new surroundings, we found that his stress level really went down since he was no longer surrounded by so many things that he used to be able to do, but couldn't anymore. The frustration he experienced so often was much less and that made things easier for all of us. Praying for you both.
Bet, have to say how much I appreciate the Lions Club. One of my sisters works with visually impaired students as a braillist, and much of the equipment that she uses is provided by the Lions Club. Thanks for what you do!
A busy day, with a sudden severe thunderstorm at the end of it. I got very wet running from the door to my car this afternoon! I was glad, though, that I had gone out at lunch to run errands instead of waiting till after work.
Hamburger Casserole for dinner tonight. It's starting to get a little cooler, so comfort food tastes good.
Hope you all are enjoying your evening ~

Ann, I made this dressing.
Greek Salad I Recipe By:Meesh "This is an incredibly good Greek salad recipe, nice and tangy and even better in the summer when you use fresh vegetables!" Ingredients 1 head romaine lettuce- rinsed, dried and chopped 1 red onion, thinly sliced 1 (6 ounce) can pitted black olives 1 green bell pepper, chopped 1 red bell pepper, chopped 2 large tomatoes, chopped 1 cucumber, sliced 1 cup crumbled feta cheese 6 tablespoons olive oil 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 lemon, juiced ground pepper to taste black Directions In a large salad bowl, combine the Romaine, onion, olives, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumber and cheese. Whisk together the olive oil, oregano, lemon juice and black pepper. Pour dressing over salad, toss and serve.
Tonight I made what my Mom called Swiss Steak. Cubed steak seared and then slow cooked with sauteed onions and mushroom. After sauteing the onions mix in flour to help make a gravy. Add water and cook steak about 45 minutes. Had boiled potatoes and did frozen peas in butter, garlic powder, and parsley. Added a little of the about greek dressing also.
I am stuffed and ready for bed.
Helen, so good to here from you. You and your husband are in my thoughts.
Elza, thanks for the compliment about the Lions. It is one of the best kept secrets as we don't publicize what we do. At one time I was president and then chairman of the board of an Eye Bank and on of the programs we supported was the transcribing of braille textbooks. The work was done by volunteers but the eye bank supplied the equipment and other supplies.
This is our 100th anniversary. In the past year Lions all over the world have serviced 100,000,000 people.
Bet
