Good morning, friends. I'm up earlier than usual on a Saturday morning to join our Sunday School class in a trip to Jocassee Gorge. We are going early to miss the (apparently daily) afternoon rain/thunderstorm. It's a place DH has wanted to visit, however, he is leaving this morning to take his mother to visit her brother in Alabama. DH's sister is going with them as well. They both arrived last night and they will head out later on this morning. It's only about 4 hours -- assuming that Atlanta traffic is not too terrible on a Saturday. Lori, I am so sorry to hear your sad news. We all understand how much a baby is loved from the minute that we know of his/her existence, and so we know that you are all grieving right now. Praying for you, my friend ~ "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted" Psalm 34:18

Elza have fun on your little trip and hope your DH has good luck with his Mom and sister. Is nice of him to take them.
Chris sounds like you will be spoiled today all that good cooking!! I had raspberries bushes when we first got married and huge cherry tree. The two together made a wonderful pie. That was when I had lots of energy!!
Have some chicken breasts cooking and celery and onions diced up and will crush some crackers. Is a recipe I found in MIL recipe box. Will see if it is good. Takes mushroom soup, broth, cracker crumbs and velvetta cheese. So will see what it is like.
We had a nice rain and suppose to be 40% today too. At least will be in the 80's and not 90's and over 100.
Have a great Sat. Thinking of you Lori and DD.

I did have the scare of my life yesterday. I was out checking out the perennial nursery that is beside the garage when all of a sudden something came tearing around the corner with something else right behind it. I let out a scream which isn't my normal reaction. Went in the house for my gun but of course there was only 1 shell in the clip so had to stop and fill that first. Still don't know what it was but think I have one shut in my shed. I did some research this morning and they may Lynx Kits. DGD may be able to bring me a have a heart trap today. I figure if it is in there long enough it will start crying out so may now what it is or family members will come.
Despite the little upset with the critters I had a very productive day considering the kids came at 2:30. DGD had a job interview so it was important she have someone to watch them and DD was working. I did some weeding in the big vegetable garden so I got 2 kinds of cukes planted and 2 dozen glad croms. When I finished them I put the sprinkler on the garden for about 2 hours. My tomato plants out there are doing great. Looks like a good crop of tomatoes this year. From there I went back to work on the bed in the fairy garden that DGD helped me start to clean out weeks ago. I finished getting all the weeds out and dug the rest of the plants that were in there. I am adding topsoil to that bed as the soil I but in there is not good. When I get that all in there I will till it in with what is already there, fertilize and replant. I only got 160 pounds of soil down when the kids came. That didn't make a dent and I only have 120 pounds left so DGD was suppose to pick up 400 pounds when she came back but she didn't get back in town in time. She said she would do it today so time will tell.
Lori, I am so sorry to read of your loss. I know how heartbreaking it can be especially since you have been waiting so long. That is the reason my son is chosen.
Elza, enjoy your trip today and hope you stay dry. Save travels to your DH and family today.
Chris, your ribs sound yummy. Blueberries and raspberries sound good. I have wild raspberries around the house but it looks like they have all dried up due to lack of rain.
Time to think about getting ready for work.
Have a great day.

Good Morning ! Just popping in to say hello. We are off to town. DH needs to pick up some oak wood to use in the smoker. I am going to get a large bag of bacon bits to take to church for baked potatoes tomorrow. I will also bake a strawberry rhubarb dump cake for church.
I'm hoping to grab lunch while we are out. Supper will be smoked ribs and some potato salad. Probably not homemade salad though. I might get a box from the deli and doctor it up.
Bet, glad you survived the "wild animal" chase. I'm sure that was scary, not knowing what was out there.
Elza, have a nice day trip. It sounds fun.
Chris, I hope you enjoy being out and about also.
Marlene, give Red a pat from me. That reminds me, I need to go and feed my cat!

Hello all.
I've been up since 430 taking dd to the airport. She is going to Austin to see her bff. Oldest dd. Her bff is getting married so they are wedding planning.
No big plans today. It's just dh and the girls and I this weekend. I guess I could do some cleaning and picking up.
Lori, I am thinking of you and your family. So sorry. Sending you a hug.
I think we will go out to dinner or get some take out.
Have a great day.
Betsy

We had a good trip and perfect weather for it. I'm very glad I was not driving! Over an hour on a hilly, twisty, gravel road to get there, but we were rewarded by a spectacular view of Lake Jocassee from "Jumping Off Rock." After the drive back down, we stopped for ice cream -- always a good idea.
I'm back home now and getting some laundry done. Heard from DH that they arrived safely in Alabama.
I am having soup for dinner, and as a treat for myself, homemade chocolate pudding as well.

Elza, sounds like you had a wonderful day. Glad that DH arrived in Alabama safely.
Betsy, sounds like exciting plans coming up for DD and BFF.
Tammy, I find it strange to smoke with oak. Not something we see used here. I love apple. I do buy mesquite and hickory also. I had a cousin who's wife was from Texas and couldn't wait to get here in the north to take home birch to smoke with. The only time I ever heard of that.
The sage of the mystery critter continues. I put a can of sardines in the shed this morning and when I got home from work it was eaten so there is definitely something in there. DSoIL is coming with a trap tomorrow so will see what he catches. I will be glad to know since 2 nights a week I don't get home until 10:30-11:00. My screen name explains where I live. I have even had a bear on my second story deck so am very careful when I have some strange unknown animal here.

(((Lori and family))) --- sent you a PM last night.
Sounds like you had a lovely day, Elza. Enjoy some 'you' time this evening!
Smoked ribs? I'm on my way Chris!
80s would definitely be better than 90s Marlene. The older I get, the less I like the heat.
Your garden really keeps you busy Bet. A good tomato crop is always welcome!
Tammy, guess it must be rib day - but I didn't get the memo. It does sound good tho'
What an early start Betsy. I think a quiet day is called for.
My plan for today was cleaning up the fruit garden but the rain thwarted my p!ans somewhat! I did get some of it done + I picked, chopped and froze 9lb of rhubarb 🙂. There's always another day.
Chilli and baked potato with a salad for us tonight.
