Ann, for a number of years I made Canadian bacon for my DB when he was alive. It is brined but not with the spices used in corned beef. Then it is cold smoked. Real good. I am not a real fan of sauerbraten but I do make a mock one. I just put the spices in a tea ball while the meat is cooking and either red wine or red wine vinegar in the liquid. Just no marinating.
Have made my menu for next week and went shopping in the basement for all of the ingredients. I cleaned the side freezer in the kitchen last night so have room to put all the food I need for a weekly menu in there with just one trip to the basement. The dough is also rising so I can make pita bread one day this week to go with my Greek dinner. I do need to buy a cucumber and some plain yogurt if I can get it in town.

Hello friends, It really feels like fall around here. We had the little space heaters on during the night and I wore my jacket when we left this morning. Every day we see a little bit more color to the trees.
Chris, it sounds like you are having a delightful time already. You lucked out with a nice hotel, shopping and good restaurants nearby. We stay at the Comfort a lot when we travel and are not in the rv. Today we left about 10 and went by a salon in town. They cannot get me in until Monday so I took that appointment rather than looking for another place.
Then we went to the covered bridge museum. Today was something special going on so admission was free. then we drove to 5 covered bridges in the area. At the next to the last one DH noticed his wallet was missing. Since the museum was free he did not need to get it out of his pocket. We made a quick run to the last bridge then I drove home since he did not have his license on him, and luckily when we got home it was on the table. I forgot my phone too, it was plugged in charging, so we made a short day of sight seeing today. We stopped by a convenience store across from the campground and got some bread. We came home and had bacon sandwiches. Dinner tonight will be a tuna noodle casserole.
Waving to everyone!

Hey, you guys have been so busy here today. Nice to see Paulette joining us too.
Chris I can only imagine the heaven you are in - HC(s), shopping, meeting some wonderful friends for lunch. . . We used Comfort Inns on our trip last week and found them to be really quite good.
Seems like everyone is having a good day - some like Lori and her hubby relaxing and others like Bet and Marlene, busy as always.
We leeft early this morning. The curling season is almost here and this morning was the first of 2 open house for sign up. It wasn't super busy but about 60 new and returning members came by. I'm expecting more on Wednesday evening because we will be able to buy equipment then too. It was fun to catch up the some old friends.
A quiet evening here tonight and then in the morning we head off for the wedding rehearsal then the big day on Monday. Not sure how much time I will have to get here - probably not too much so I will wish you all a good few days and I'll chat when I can.

Hello all.
No cooking for me today. We went to my son's apt. to see it since he is now all moved in. We treated him to lunch out. He seemed glad to see us. I think he is a bit lonely.
Since we returned home I have cleaned the bathrooms and washed the kitchen floor.
We are having a bit of a heatwave. Which figures since the new AC units will be installed Monday. The old AC is working pretty well, too. That figures as well....
Have a great night.
Betsy
