It has been sweet having DH back home. WE lazed around yesterday and did not do much at all. Did get some grocery shopping done and ate out at a pizza place we like to go to in Claremont. Called Romunto's Pizza. There are several in our area and we like them. I had pasta and meatballs and DH had lasagna. Hit the spot.
Hope you all have a great day, Chris

Good morning Chris and everyone else who stops in ~ Sounds like y'all had a really nice day yesterday!
It's chilly this morning but should be warm by the afternoon. It's layering weather -- short sleeves for later but I need a sweater now.
Dinner at church tonight -- I think it will be beef stew over rice.
Hope it's a good day for everybody.

Good morning friends.
Sunny but cool here this morning. Tomorrow it will be in the 80's!
Ann, You asked about what we had from the Thai place. We had shrimp fritters with a chili sauce as an appetizer. DH and chicken mas sa mun in massaman made hot. And I had crispy chicken with red curry made hot.
Steak and blackened shrimp for dinner tonight.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning all.
Quite cloudy at the moment and only in the 40s but the sun will come out later and it should be a pleasant mid 60s.
Today I said I would take lunch to the curling club for the guys working on our new floor so I have a big pot of pulled pork ready to reheat. I'll make something sweet before I head into town. Will get some buns and fruit on my way in.
I have a couple of chicken breasts to use tonight - maybe a stir fry. Will see what appeals later in the day!
Have a marvellous Monday 😉

Hello all.
It's a bit chilly here today and won't get past 60. It was misty when I was out with the dogs.
It's been a tough few days around our house. Dh's mom is not fun to deal with in a normal situation but it was her mom that passed away. She's been a nightmare to say the least to her 2 sisters . I am staying out of it. The service is Wed. Every single detail has been drama because my MIL is running it. She won't let anyway help and then sends huge email complaining about no one doing anything and how tired she is. Like I said I am keeping quiet and staying out of it. I feel so badly for dh. His mom thought it a good idea to describe in an email to him the horrible details of his grandmother's death. Seemed evil to me. Disturbing to say the least.
Dinner will be bbque chicken salad and some homemade bread.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Waving to all.
Betsy

Good morning. It is windy here so no shuffleboard.
Louie was a BRAT this morning. He went and hid in the box spring in the guest bedroom. He has the gauze stuff tore in one spot and climbs in. Well, he needs his insulin and after DH and I both had laid on the door trying to get him out. I went and opened a can of tuna. I hadn't even gotten it open all the way and here he comes running into the kitchen. Lol.
Tomorrow I am walking Jack early and then we are heading to Mexico so that we can be back by one As I have a craft class to make a bead suncatcher.
Have a great day.ELAINE

Good Afternoon! Betsy, so sorry about all the drama that is occurring. I hope it is over soon and things settle down. Just keep thinking of your sweet grandbaby coming soon!
Tasty, what did you end up making for a sweet today?
I just got back from errands. I got my driver's license renewed, dropped by the dollar store, got gas in the car, and got groceries-things I need to bake for the coffee shop. I have lots of goodies and hardly know where to start. I think I will first bake some "Windmill Cookie Bars". They are like the Dutch windmill cookies, but are in a bar form. I also plan to make soon: Cherry Cashew Cookies (a special request), Cranberry Scones, Almond Joy Bread, Raspberry Bars, Rice Krispy Treats, and individual tiramisu cups. I also bought the sticks and bags to make some cake pops. I think I have all I need for those already here. I bought a German chocolate cake mix on sale and also have a can of the matching frosting.
Supper tonight will be the beef pot pie that did not get done this weekend.
Elaine, speaking of cats, while waiting at the driver's license place, I was looking at facebook on my phone and there was a video of cats and cucumbers. It was hilarious! Owners laid a whole cucumber down near the cat while it was eating, when the cat spotted the cuke, they all jumped sky high and freaked out. It was really funny to watch.
I have groceries to deal with, and must start baking, plus laundry today, so no nap for me!

Afternoon, friends! Woke up to the light from the full moon streaming into the kitchen...lovely site! Soon after the clouds moved in so now it's cold and dank. My mom had a PT and nurse visit today. PT was impressed with what we have installed in her place to keep her from falling admonished her to USE her cane, walker, or rollator at all times! Not that I haven't been doing that!!!! She basically said the same thing I've been saying...you fall, you'll be in hospital!! I guess you sometimes need someone on the "outside" to tell you things. Tonight we are finishing the smothered chicken and mashed rutabaga. Chris - Glad you had an enjoyable Sunday. Betsy - Too bad about your MIL's oppressive antics. Wise to remain aloof; hugs to your DH. Elaine - Tricky way to get kitty out of hiding. LOL Elza - Enjoy your dinner at church; sounds good! Nancy - It's going to get very warm for us on Wednesday. Your Thai meal sounds great. I looked up Massaman chicken and your chicken red curry. I'd choose yours!!! Shrimp fritters looked good, too. Tasty - I defatted the Kalua pork and cooking liquid. Will have on Wednesday when I'll cook the cabbage in the broth and serve it with the shredded pork. It was the first time I'm ever made shredded pork; recipe was so easy, and it's so flavorful with just simple ingredients. This LINK gives other ways to cook it besides the pressure cooker. Birdy - Thanks for posting the Zuppa recipe...looks great. I printed it out. Lori - How are you feeling today; did you get to work? Tammy - Yum...made me hungry for a good pizza! Funny video about the cat and cuke!! Hope everyone is having a great Monday. Waving!

Hello all. I'm doing laundry today along with a general tidy-up. In between loads I've started a book, so far so good. It's a lovely day, with a soft breeze and little humidity. I have nowhere to go, thankfully, so will watch the palms sway from the lanai for a bit. Tonite's supper will be fried cabbage and onions and fresh sliced tomatoes. Oh Betsy, how awful for the family to have MIL's drama to put up with at an already sad time. Big hugs to all.

I forgot to tell you all that it was spitting snow this morning when I woke up. Was still spitting when I went to work, but quit after about an hour. So sick of snow! Supposed to be 80 on Wednesday! Go figure! LOL Chris

Well I did post this morning must be in the air with our horrible wind!! It is terrible out there today. I let Red out he was sideways trying to get around machine shed. I was just watching and laughing!!
Did trim pages from computer all recipes I saved AGAIN!! I said I was not going to do that what else can I say. Sounds like you have enough stuff to bake up a storm, Tammy. It all sounds so good.
Chuck came yesterday and put the rest of my lights up. They look nice. He did put up the new sign I bought too. Good thing he had his work truck as the guy sure did not measure the logs that the sign fits in. So looks nice and should me in my front lawn but its not. Going to leave where it is. Guy was here yesterday to look at the moles hills. A guy told me at church to put juicy fruit gum in hole they can not digest it will kill them. Lots of place just are the runs, no mounds made. Then gas man came and left some gas in my big barrel for lawnmower. So I think I am set for quite awhile.
Took out a beef burrito for supper. Nothing sounds good today. Had chicken salad on a very thin bun for dinner. DD from Texas messaged me that that June 28 is her last day with the Dallas School System. Her and her 2 bosses will be leaving. She knew there was something up in the air. She was their go to gal to do all their work. So hope she finds a much better job somewhere. She has a master degree and one for HR and whatever else. She has had a lot of schooling that I don't even know about. So has her DD.
Better see if I can do some work around here!!

Chris, I haven't had spaghetti and meatballs in ages - sounds so good! Enjoy 'short sleeve'weather Elza. It's nice here today but too windy to go without a sweater. My BILs girlfriend owns a Thai restaurant in England, Nancy. We ate there and the food was lovely. Of course, my BIL was with us and they knew we had better be happy with the food! Unfortunately she was in Thailand visiting her family at that time. Betsy, it's a sad enough time for you all without MIL adding to the stress of all around her. I hope everything goes smoothly on Wednesday. Hugs to you all. Cats can be very trying at tiems Elaine. but the tin opener works wonders. Did for our 2 anyway. You are going to be busy baking Tammy. I made Apricot almond squares. Haven't made them in ages (like years!!!) When hubby saw what I was making for today he wanted to know why today and not tomorrow when he will be working at the club. So I kept a little bit for him at home but will make butter tarts for tomorrow to go with pea and ham soup. I cook my pork in the slow cooker Ann for the pulled pork. It went over very well with the guys at lunch time. There was just enough left for hubby and I to have it for lunch later this week. Enjoy the time on the lanai Helen. Sounds a lovely way to spend an hour or 2. You sound just like me with saving recipes Marlene. If I made a new one every day for the rest of my life, I would not get thru all I have saved Don't you even mention that "S" word Chris!! or no more HC for you. Just spent a couple of hours "playing around" in amongst the raspberry canes - not my favourite job and one I usually put off until it is too late to get in and clean out the grass and weeds that seem to think they have a right to be there. I am trying this year to get the "not favourite" jobs done first so that they do actually get done. So far, it's working quite well but I'm just itching to get out and work in the flower beds and do some pots for the front door. Almost time to think about supper so I shall say goodnight.

Hello friends. Today we are celebrating National Raisin Day and National Oatmeal Cookie Day. I say put the two together and make some oatmeal raisin cookies to share with your loved ones.
Well, I did go to work today, but I honestly should have called in sick. It was such a long day due to how bad I was feeling. Thank goodness the little ones were so well behaved and no problem what so ever. DD called and said I sound terrible. When DH came in from work, he said not only do I sound bad, but I look it too! Yea, he has a way with words! He felt my head next and said I'm running a fever--decided to check and sure enough, I sure am. Decided right there and then I wasn't going to work the next two days so that hopefully I'll be feeling better by Thursday when DH starts his last few days of vacation. We weren't planning to go out of town, just some small things around town, but if I don't feel good, I can't even do that.
So glad I made dinner yesterday. I have Chicken Chow Mein and rice ready to be heated up. I was going to also do some pot stickers, but if DH wants those, he can make them for himself.
Hockey night for me--game 2 of the play-offs will be this evening. Sure hoping the Bolts do better then they did on Saturday. Tampa has to beat Boston tonight or it will be pretty much over as they travel back to Boston for games 3 and 4.
Tammy, would you kindly share your recipes for the Windmill Cookie Bars and the Almond Joy Bread? As a young girl I was crazy for those windmill cookies--Grandpa and I would go to a bakery in town and pick up 4 every other week. Sweet memories.
Need to go now. DH called that he has dinner ready for us. Bye friends, waving to all!
Lori

Windmill Cookie Bars:
1 cup butter NO SUBSTITUTES~softenend 1 cup sugar 1 egg~separated 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tea ground cinnamon 1/4 tea baking soda 1 cup slivered almonds(I used sliced almonds)
In a bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolk, mix well. Combine the flour, cinnamon and baking soda, gradually add to creamed mixture. Press into a greased 15" x 10" x 1" baking pan. Beat the egg white, brush over dough. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 350' for 20-25 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes and cut into bars, cool completely Yield: 2 1/2 dozen Baked on 4/30/18. Added 1 t. pumpkin pie spice and 1 more yolk. Used a 9x13 pan Tammy's changes.....the dough looked pale so I added 1 t. pumpkin pie spice, it also looked a little dry, so I added 1 extra egg yolk. I baked in a 9 x 13 pan so they would be thicker. I baked them about 5-7 minutres longer.
