Here is the recipe I used. It is called Beef Tips but is really beef stew meat. The recipe is from the old TOH board and posted by Food Guy. Yes, it does call for wine. I just checked mine and it tastes good and the meat is really tender. I had to use a crock pot since my oven is out of commission for now.
EASY BEEF TIPS IN WINE SAUCE
3-4 lbs stew beef cubed (I used about 2 1/2 lbs) 1 envelope dry onion soup mix 2 cans cream of mushroom soup 12 oz can 7 -Up 1/4 c. wine (Merlot) 1 can sliced mushrooms, drained 12 oz package egg noodles, cooked and drained
Preheat oven to 375*. Place beef tips in a roasting pan and sprinkle with dry soup. toss to coat. Combine canned soups, 7-Up, and wine. Pour over meat. Add mushrooms. Stir well. Cover and bake 3 hours, or 6 hours in a crock pot. Let stand 10 minutes then serve over noodles.
(I had no 7-up so just added a little more wine. I figured being in the crock pot it would have plenty of liquid and it does. I left the lid off for a couple hours to let the juice thicken up, in fact.)

I copied many, many recipes from the TOH board and this was one I had earmarked to try. I bought all the ingredients including the 7-up but we have been gone so much during the day that I just never got around to making this. In the meanwhile, DH drank all the 7-up! I did not even measure the wine, I just dumped some in. Probably about 1 cup. I added black pepper because we love it but did not add salt because of all the salt in the dry soup mix. Hope you like it!

I'm not Pippin but thanks Tammy for posting this recipe. Hmmmm, the more ways to use that 7-up here, the better. I'd also use the red wine in it. For some reason beef and red wine simmered long and slow make for a great dish.
