SUNDAY: What's Cookin'? 9/18/16

Good evening friends. Sounds like we are all pretty much having warm to hot weather everywhere today. We dream of a good heavy rain out here in California for several days in a row. That would be amazing!!! That should tell you what a drought we are in.

I didn't wind up making the chicken pot pie last night, I fell asleep watching FOX and CNN on the NYC bombings and slept until 8:30 😳. I have a dear friend from skating who lives there so was concerned!

When I woke I just opened a can of Chef Boyardee spaghetti and meatballs with bread and butter and called it dinner.
I have to use that chicken for tonights dinner or lose it!
I decided to add a bag of frozen, defrosted pearl onions with the mixed veg in the pot pie and might make slaw with corn in it. I need to run to the market 3 blocks from me but I am unable to walk that far right now so I'll be driving!

Elza that baked potato sounded real good to me, going to have to try it! 😋

Marlene Im out of the loop now so if your Mother has passed I am so very sorry to hear that. Hugs my friend❌⭕️

Tammy and Chris I am so excited for you all to meet up. Applebee's is a great spot to meet up. Something on that menu for everyone. Hope you remember to take a picture.

Chris I have to know...is HC Hot chocolate or hot coffee or something else? Been wondering since I came to this bb...enquiring (nosey) minds want to know, LOL😆. Also I hope your DH feels better soon poor guy😟! I read last evenings posts.

Jan- HC= Hot Chocolate! The nectar of the Gods! LOL Well of me for sure!

Had a wonderful visit with Tammy and her DH! What a sweet couple. We had a good meal and great conversation. Someone said that when they had meet Tammy it was like they had always known her! Yep! She is so personable and sweet! Her DH is just wonderful. I wish my DH could have been there as those two would have talked together quite well!

My DH is feeling a bit better. He says the day of rest was good for him. He was careful what he ate so that helped.

We just got a text from DS that his DD will be having a colonoscopy at 9 tomorrow morning. Hopefully they can get to the bottom of all of her pain. Thanks for the kind thoughts. She's just 17 and should be having fun her senior year, not going through this!

DH wants to take the truck in for an alignment tomorrow. I'll probably stay home, rather than sit in a waiting room at the shop. It might be a good  day to cook something in the crock pot. I have a recipe for beef tips in wine sauce that I bought all the ingredients just needed the time to make it. It is supposed to rain again tomorrow so not a good day for sightseeing.

 I'll take the meat out of the freezer right now while I am thinking of it. Sleep well ladies!

Tamara...do your beef tips have wine in them? I have a rump roast and was thinking that if I used a recipe with red wine, it would tenderize cubes of that and go over noodle or rice....any thoughts on that? I looked at a recipe for Burgundy Beef an it called for stew beef...guess I am thinking outside the box?

Pippin, I never buy stew beef.  I buy bottom round or rump roast when it is on sale and cut my own stew beef.  I can control the amount of fat included in it and it is much cheaper than buying it already cut up.
