redsoxmom-thanks for more 7-up recipes, several which are very different. I've heard of ginger ale for ham and seltzer water for pancakes but never 7-up for either, good to know about as not a lot of ginger ale of seltzer water pass through this house. The marinade also sounds good, marinades can really change meat.
ezdoesit-thanks for the review. It's always nice to hear others have tried it and like it.

Almonds- my grandmother's friend was the head chef on a huge cruise liner. I forget which one but he loved his job and would visit once a year. He made the Glazed Ham but used Ginger Ale and that's what I use.

paulette-I haven't made Jell-O a lot since our girls are grown but because you just mentioned it and we have fresh carrots here I remembered mom grating (not shredding) fresh carrots and adding them to lemon Jell-O. She made it in layers so all the carrots wouldn't sink to the bottom. Growing up we all liked it so I'll definitely be making it, thanks for the idea and reminder. I'm glad for the reminder on this one too. My mother used to make orange jello with crushed pineapple and grated carrots and it was delicious.

Redsoxmom I love the sound of that cake! Actually I love the sound of the icing. I've always prefered icing to cake.

When my husband and I are at weddings or other events serving cake, he gets my cake, I get his yummy frosting. He doesn't care for much frosting, usually just scrapes it off, so works for me!

One half bottle of vodka, one ounce of 7-Up, one twist of fresh lemon and one teaspoon of sugar. Stir and let sit on counter for an hour while you drink the other half bottle of vodka. Stagger over to the counter and drink a tall glass of the 7-Up mixture. Be careful no to drink too much. Be sure you have someone to pick you up off the floor and put you in bed. I have other healthy drinks if you are interested, especially one for Carp.
