Good Morning ! Chris, I am sorry about your mom's health. I know it must be difficult dealing with it.
We had such a great day yesterday. We absolutely LOVED the castle in the clouds. What a spectacular place. It was a pretty drive going up, where you stop part way and take a 5 minute walk to a waterfall. Then you park in a lot and walk a little ways to the carriage house. It is also built of stone and looks like something out of a fairy tale. Inside there is a restaurant. That is where we got on an old fashioned trolley. It takes you farther up the mountain to the "castle". You get a 15 minute talk a bout the history and then you are free to conduct a self guided tour. We took our time looking around. We went back down to the carriage house and had a late lunch on the patio. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table-it was a very busy place! DH had homemade mac & cheese topped with pulled pork. I had a cheeseburger. By the time we left it was between 3:30 and 4 so we were not interested in any supper. We drove around Lake Winnapesaukee, and tried to find some covered bridges. They were marked on the map but as we are finding out, this area was hard hit by Irene and washed out many of the bridges. That's what happened to the first bridge we looked for. We could not ever find the 2nd bridge. There were no signs for it. We drove some back roads but never found it. We did find the Blair Bridge. It's nearby and well marked, but it was about 7 p.m. and too dark for a photo so we'll go back today.
Today we plan to drive the "northern loop" It goes around the northern half of the White mountain range. We thought about driving up to the top of Mt. Washington but found out it will cost about $37.00 for the 2 of us. We'll drive to a different mountain and maybe take a gondola.
Tomorrow we are going to stop by one of the many pancake parlor and have breakfast then sight see, and then we are going to meet a friend for dinner. She works for Dartmouth. She is someone we knew when we lived in Holland back in the 80's. We became friends on facebook so are going to meet up at a diner near where she lives.
Today is supposed to be sunny and warm-around 75. Tomorrow is a chance for showers.
Waving to everyone!!

Good morning.
Cloudy and cool start to the day. I have an AC company coming by to give me a quote on the ac. I have one quote already but don't think I will go with that guy. He has been working on the old unit and seems to be a bit of a flake. I need this done right. I think I will make Mexican grilled chicken sandwiches for dinner tonight. Running to Target and Trader Joe's right now.
Have a great day.

Good Tuesday morning to everyone. It has been raining here and suppose to keep it up, also kind of cloudy out there to. I got up at 3:30 this morning because I couldn't sleep again, so I have a pot of homemade vegetable beef soup made, smelling good in here. I really need to make a chocolate cake for my neighbors birthday, but don't know if I have enough energy left. It sounds like everybody is very busy today doing necessary things, whatever you are doing I hope it goes well and gets done. I better go and try to get that cake done. See you later.

I had forgotten how much teen age boys can eat. The kid that dug up my little currant bush in exchange for cookies stopped by on the way to school and offered to cut down my sunflower patch. I told him maybe later, they are in full bloom. I wonder if any of those cookies even made it to his house. He ate a dozen while he was standing here and took two dozen with him. I guess I'll make some more this afternoon, I'm not sure I can keep up with his appetite!

Afternoon, friends! It's warm and beautiful today. Already weather warnings are up for tomorrow...shear winds and storms so I'm savoring today.
Tonight we are having ham in the crockpot cooked in a beer, mustard, and rosemary "broth". Smells good in here. I'll serve it with a carrot, onion, and rutabaga medley, and homemade sauerkraut.
Chris - Hugs!
Kay- I love sunflowers, but we have nasty squirrels that destroy them. Sounds like you have a willing but hungry helper!! Our neighborhood kids have no interest in helping others.
Tammy - I knew you'd like Castle in the Clouds!!! He was certainly ahead of his time! So may interesting stories! Did they tell you about the window over the fireplace? Or about divorcing his wife? The castle has it's own spring water...Castle Springs. We used to spend some weekends on Lake Winnipesaukee on Kenniston Island at a friend's camp. They sold it about 10 years ago...sad
Nancy - Hope your work is going well. Dinner sounds delish! Sara - Nice of you to make a cake for your neighbors! Bet it's delicious! Waving to all! Enjoy the evening!

Good evening CC friends!
Had such a crisis at work this morning I was not sure I could survive it! I went in and there was only enough milk for a half of a cup of HC! I about broke down right there. Now my coworkers know that (two of them come in later) when I call and say "Can you bring me in some milk?" they better do it! Well the Newbie got the call because she was the one to come in first. She, being a newbie!, asked why when she got there and with out my saying a word 3 voices from 3 other offices say " Just give her the milk and walk away" LOL They so stinkin' know me or What!! It was then explained to Newbie that if I do not have my full amount of HC in the morning!! You better watch out! Was really funny!
Nancy- We call them string beans too. They are the same as green beans. Love a good meatloaf for supper!
Bet-I hope you found some time to relax a bit today. Hate days when you have too much and not enough time!
Tammy- I can so picture all the places you are seeing. I have not visited around there for a couple years. When my Uncle was still alive we went there every year. He lived in Conway.
Betsy- I hope they give you a good quote on the AC. They can be so expensive! Good luck.
Sara- So you cook when you can not sleep! LOL I will go quilt or read. Lately quilt! Hope you got a nap in today!
Marlene- I hope you got all done today without too much stress. You can at least relax at the hairdressers! Hugs to you! Just want you to know I am still holding you close!
Kay- I think that is funny that your neighbor kid eats so many cookies at once! LOL He knows a deal when he sees it for sure!
Ann- Looks like we are having the same weather tomorrow. Looks like real cool too! Stay safe.
Well I am going to have a soft boiled egg on toast for supper. DH is on a job and will not be home until late so he will stop somewhere and gt something. So I only have myself to feed tonight! Have a great night all, Chris (Still the HC queen! )

Sounds like everyone had a busy day today. I got my hair done and went to pick up Mom. She did not have on the pants I laid out said they were to big so got a different pair out. Then we went. Stopped and had dinner and the food has always been good, not today I had French dip sandwich all cold and the fries were cold. Mom ate 1/2 of soup and we left. We were there an hour as she had to use the bathroom and time means nothing to her. We arrived at the appt. at 12:30 ! So she got right in and suppose the ear is cleaned and a guy from the hearing aid place was there and he could put new valve on the aid so we were good to get back home. got to the Nursing home what are we doing here? This is where you live , no I don't I live in Walnut. Took her inside and she was fine. I have noticed a lot of this lately.
All is a mess at Mom's and we will have to have a work day of all the family to get things done and a big dumpster. Having brother live there for 19 years lots to get rid of. Just what we all want to face!!

Hi everyone.
A successful shopping day today. While we were out, we stopped and had a late lunch at 5 guys so we're not going to want supper tonight.
Chris, I think your life needs to calm down a bit - take some time to stop and smell the roses.
Nancy, I hope work is going well for you, that you are working with nice people and you're having fun.
Bet, I hope you are getting done what you wanted today. You have been so busy recently.
Lots of fun for you and hubby, Tammy. Lots of sight-seeing.
Betsy, hope you get some good quotes for the new a/c - I can't imagine being without in California.
Did you manage to bake your chocolate cake Sara? Or did you take a nap instead?
Guess the kid must have liked the cookies if he's offering to do more work for you, Kay!
Ann that ham sounds heavenly.
Marlene - what an awful day with MIL. Sounds like a ton of work at Mom's house too. I hope your brother's kids intend to do the work rather than expecting you to take it on. Hugs my friend.
Have a good evening.

Having chicken and noodles tonight. DH made it this morning before we went to town. Had quite a few errands to run also stopped by Walgreens to get our flu immunizations and I also got the new pneumonia immunization. DH passed on that one. Better get going as I have to finish the dishes. I'm pretty tired as I've been up since 2:15 AM. Don't think I will help DH walk the dogs at 9 PM.
