Good morning friends and Happy birthday Marlene! Enjoy your special day. Any plans?
Well this is the last day before school starts. I need to stop at the store and pick up a few groceries. I'll decide on dinner while I'm there.
I'll be back after to chat.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning. 55 and sunny this morning. Spent a good portion of yesterday morning here so really had to hustle later in the day. Have finally gotten 1/2 of the shop floor cleaned up and moved about 400 pounds of potting soil and manure from the garage into there for the winter. Needless to say this body was tired so ended up just making Buffalo Wings for dinner last night. The worst of the day was trying to put a new screen in my storm door. I have had the screen for 3 years and now I know why it took me so long to decide to do it. It took me over 2 hours and believe me some choice words before it was done. It isn't quite right but no on will notice and the glass is secure.
Today it is back to the shop to work but first have about 8 pounds of ground meat to freeze. I hate doing hamburger patties so have been procrastinating. It has to get done today.
Our kids start back to school on Wednesday.
Have a great day.

Good morning.
Today our canning group is getting together for another session to make pasta sauce, chilli sauce and an onion chutney. As we are all retired the fact that today is a holiday doesn't really make much difference to us.
I know now how your dog acquired his name, Bet, or did he get the name and now he's living up to it?
I think we may have pasta tonight but we'll see closer to the time.
Have a marvelous Monday.

Absolutely no idea what we'll be eating for dinner today. Hmmm. I know that as soon as my husband gets up, he's making me some homemade waffles though. I LOVE waffles!
I'll probably spend a large part of the day cooking & cleaning because with working long hours everyday, it doesn't get done during the week anymore.
I'm thinking about making chili, spaghetti sauce, the sauce part of lasagna and who knows WHAT else. I'm making cauldrons of this stuff so that I have plenty to freeze, so I may call it a day after making those things, we'll see.
I hope that everyone has a great day today! Have one for me too as it's going to storm here everyday through Wednesday. 😕

Good Morning ! Happy Birthday Marlene!
Tasty, I hope you get a lot accomplished today. Everything sounds yummy.
We had a nice day yesterday visiting with our friend. She had us walk down to the Queechee Gorge since it was only a couple blocks away from the park. Then we went to lunch at a place she picked out. It was Turkish/middle Eastern food. It's not what I would have picked, but she loves it, so that's where we went. I was not familiar with a lot on the menu, things I may have heard of but had never had so I wanted to order something I was pretty sure I would like. I went with lentil soup and am order of falafel. I had never had either and did like both items. DH had a sandwich made of doner meat. We think it is the same as the "donair" that we had in Nova Scotia. We also ordered the lavash bread since it looked so good-and it was.
We drove around, stopping at a couple covered bridges, Simon Pearce glass (watched the glass blowers), Andrew Pearce (wooden bowls), and made a quick stop at the Marsh-Bilings-Rockefeller national Park. Deb wanted some hiking maps so we went in the visitor center for a couple minutes. We drove to Woodstock and walked down the main street. We went back to her campsite and sat outside and talked for awhile.
Today we are doing the covered bridges within a 25 mile area. We did not do that trip on Saturday. We also plan on going up to Cabot Cheese Factory and doing a tour.
Dinner tonight will be desperation dinner. It's quick and easy. Here's the recipe: 1 lb beef smoked sausage 2 onions, chopped 4 cans butter beans (15 oz each) 2 cans stewed tomatoes (16 oz each) In a large pot, brown sausage and onions. Add the beans, tomatoes with their liquid. Cover and heat thoroughly. Ready in about 20 minutes, or you can cook as long as desired. This does well in a crock pot also. The store I was at did not carry butter beans so I am trying navy beans instead.
Magnabay, thanks for the recipe! I have copied it.
Have a super day!

Good Monday morning to everyone. It is suppose to get to 90 today and very humid, rain is forecast for the next 3 or 4 days. I'm going to make hot sausage sandwiches as I have been hungry for them lately. That is probably about the extent of work for me today. Another night of very little sleep, what is going on with me--lol. Marlene I sure hope you had a good visit with your brother and family yesterday. Do you have any special plans for today? Whatever you do enjoy the day. Have a good day my friends.

Good morning. Too darn windy to work outside here, so I will make some hamburger patties for the freezer. Will mix in a tiny bit of BBQ sauce, some onion and some shredded cheese . Then I'll make up a couple of meatloaves, and that should take care of my trip to the locker yesterday. I think that the onion chutney Tasty is making would be perfect with it.
Wilderness, I bought the tool to put in a screen, but have never been brave enough to use it.
Paulette, I love waffles, and now I am craving them!
Nancy, are you going to cry when your kids start off to school? Ours started a week ago.
Paulette, it sounds like a day of hard work for you.
Happy Birthday Marlene!
Tamaralynn, if you turned me loose in the Cabot cheese factory you would have trouble getting me to come out. Love that stuff.
Sara, hope you sleep better tonight.

Good to see you Paulette.
Bet, I do enjoy buffalo wings.
Tasty, When you are canning, I'm guessing everyone brings their own ingredients?
Oh Tammy, I would love to take a tour of the Cabot Cheese Factory! I am a big cheese lover.
Sara, It's been nice here the last few days but Thursday will be hot and humid again.
Kay, I actually do get a bit sad when the kids go back. However, it's good to get back into a routine and dust the cobwebs off.

Good morning all.
I have had not had a chance to read the posts from the last days. Saturday we had company and dinner out and yesterday my daughters and I attended a baby shower for oldest daughter's bff. My daughter had to be the momma to be stand in as her bff lives in Michigan and the shower was here.
Today is Dh's bday so he has requested a cold noodle salad. His mom's recipe. She is not a nice lady so it's a tad irritating but he gets what ever likes and I will keep my comments to myself. Trust me when I say she is icier and ice water. She can cook though....
I am going to walk the dogs and then make his cake when I get back. I have bread in the machine going, too.
Happy restful holiday to all.

Tammy, my husband went to college in Vermont and we did a lot of sight seeing while he was there. Did you see the Von Trapp family house? There was a restaurant there as well. I think it was in Stowe.

Thank you everyone for all the good wishes. I really do not feel 70 today. Maybe later in the day!!! Marge called and sang Happy birthday to me ! Neighbor called and so did my oldest DD and DGD. Then Chuck came over and brought me a card as he and his wife are going on a little trip for few days. So it has been a wonderful day.
So good to hear from you Paulette!! Quit working so hard!! You need to tell me when the leaves will be turning I might take a trip up that way. Has been years and I am ready to get a way and see some country. Red will have to go to the vet and stay. He will not be happy guy.
Nancy you will be lonesome when the girls go back to school. I am sure they are ready to go too. Will see all their friends again that are not around where you live.
I did go see my brother and took food for them. It was a good day and got to talk to my nephew about arrangements. He wanted my opinion on a lot of things. He will take his Dad back to bury with his Mother, that was my brother's wishes. We will have small service here. Two other nephews came back last night. They will come to see me too I hope.
Marge and I are going to the Corn Crib and have supper tonight. So looking forward to that.

Good afternoon, friends! It's blue sky sunny with a slight breeze; we are going to miss the beneficial rain from Hermine...drat. Happy Birthday, Marlene! Nancy - Did you get any of Hermine's rain or winds? Paulette - So nice to see you here! Welcome! Tammy - Friends of ours visited the glass factory there and brought me a beautiful glass bottle. My cousin made a silk flower arrangement for it. Here's a picture. I treasure it! I love Middle Eastern food. Perhaps it takes a bit to get used to it, but it's very "healthy". That recipe sort of reminds me of cassoulet! Sara - Hot sausages are my favorite! We have a family market that makes the hottest!! Yum! Tonight I'm making a version of a recipe I found on Trader Joe's...Gnocchi with Bacon and Brussels sprouts. It has a cheese sauce... Time to do something besides sit!!! Waving to all!

We had steak, cheesy cauliflower, and asparagus for supper. As I look out my window I see a huge rainbow. Very pretty. We have had rain just before and after supper, one a real downpour. I had a lot of cleaning supplies to buy so took advantage of the $10 GC with $50 purchase at Target this morning. I do love a sale. Today seemed like an ordinary day, really. We didn't do anything special for the holiday. Oh my gosh, I looked out the window again and it's a double rainbow. Don't remember that I've ever seen that. Wow. Sweet dreams.

Dinner tonight will be leftover london broil. I won't even heat it up. It is good cold. Also have some leftover mashed potatoes. Not my favorite but will add a little butter when I heat it up and a nice sliced tomato from the garden.
