Good morning friends.
Ann, Your schools open early. My kids go back the day after Labor Day.
Marlene, Sorry your DB is not doing well. I know you said he lived most of his life in Guam but how far is he from you now. I hope you can make it to see him in time. Wow 7 boys and 1 girl! I bet she was doted on and protected lol.
Chris, Have fun pretending your homeless oops I mean camping ;) . I'm more of a let's rent a room and hang out by the pool, the ocean and go shopping person. Do you have special recipes for your camping trips?
Pippin, Yes Jan is right when she says we love Pinterest :) .
Lori and Helen, I hope the winds stay calm for you. I think sometimes it can cause more damage than the rain.
Elza, I love massages. I'm glad it helped you. I have a gift card for a massage that I still have to use. It's so relaxing and I can't wait to choose a date and go relax.
Tammy, Sorry your oven is on the blink. Hopefully your DH tune ups helped.
Sara, MM MM good on the cucumbers and onions in vinegar! I could eat those everyday too. Oh and the toast soldiers that Tasty mentioned are perfect for soft boiled eggs.
I still don't have my car ;-| . I didn't call yesterday because if it was ready they would've called me.
Last night we ordered pizza. It has been a while that we had good pizza. When we were in Hershey and got back to the hotel around 9:30, the woman at the front desk said "our pizza places close at 9pm and I don't know why, however Papa John's is open". So we ordered from there because we were starving. It was the worst pizza I ever had. And the buffalo wings were mushy.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

Thanks everyone who answered my question about Labor Day in Canada.
Add me (us) to the list of those loving cucumbers and onions.
Nancy, I have never cared for Papa John's pizza either.
We saw some nice tomatoes at the store yesterday and we have already have some bacon so we'll have bt's for supper-no lettuce. DH can't have it and I did not want to buy some just for me. I can take it or leave. As soon as we get ready we are going out to the botanical garden.
Hope everyone has a nice day! P.S. We called and were able to get in the campground at Randolph VT tomorrow night!

Good morning.
We are expecting another hot day in southern Ca. Thank goodness for ac.
Nancy, my kids like to order Dominoes and Papa John's. I don't think any of the delivery type chains are too great. We have a few local restaurants that make great pizza that I will go and pick up.
I am going to make a batch of meat sauce for pasta tonight. We will have a salad, veggie and garlic bread, too.
Dh's birthday is this weekend and he asked for a certain recipe. I had to go hunting for it. I came across so many old TOH board recipes. I need to get cooking and make some of the recipes I found while hunting.
Have a great day.
Betsy

Good morning, I joined the TOH forum in 2006 and have browsed this topic many times through the years for dinner ideas. This board seems a little more user friendly and I don't work as many hours as I used to so I will try to participate more. I am making a coffee cake this morning, topped with fresh peaches. Plan on having grilled salmon, baked potatoes and cheesy cauliflower for dinner.

Good morning. 60 and raining this morning. Good day to get caught up on some much needed chores around the house. The kids were really good yesterday but I was tired by the time they left. I am accustom to quiet. No tv during the day just what ever nature has to offer in the way of sounds.
Nancy you asked about my home. It is a log chalet but not from real logs. They are precut logs. It was a kit which included just the exterior walls. I designed the interior myself and added a loft and the kitchen of my dreams. It is situated on almost 9 acres of woodland on top of what we call a hill but at 1,400 feet many would consider it a mountain and the road getting here is definitely a mountain road. This was to be my DH's dream home. We moved in October 2003. However he didn't get to enjoy it for very long as he passed away in 2007.
Not sure what I will have from my menu yet tonight. It will depend on how I feel when I get done cleaning and get back from town. I must go today since I didn't go yesterday and will have the Cameron and Natalie either tomorrow and Friday. I think bread and milk are a must.
Have a great day.
Bet

Betsy, Better get copying your recipes, today is the last day.
Welcome Bonnie, Nice to have you join us.
Bet, Your house sounds really nice. DH and I were watching a show recently that took place in up state N.Y. There were people who were looking to buy a vacation home on the lake. So pretty and I told him I wouldn't mind living there.

Good to see you joining us Bonnie. Tonight's dinner sounds wonderful Got room for an extra at the table. Just me - hubby doesn't eat salmon but I love it.
No cooking for me tonight (as long as the rain doesn't start up again) as it's my golf night. Hubby is on his own and I have no idea what he'll fix for himself.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
I'll try and get back later,

No cooking for me tonight, either. I am going to try to make some no knead bread this morning and bake a cake for a funeral tomorrow. I bought the heavy pot for the bread, but still expect it to turn into a little blackened lump when I toss it into that hot oven.
We had a Papa John's here for awhile, but it closed after a year. Just couldn't compete with the local places.
Bet, your house sounds wonderful.
Enjoy your day

Nancy, LOL. No more printing and copying recipes for me. The recipe I was searching for was in a pile of recipes I have already printed. If I cook everyday from the pile I won't get through the pile. The recipe he wants is his mom's. It just happened to be in that pile. Sad this is the last day for TOH.

My car will be ready on Friday. The mechanic said he is waiting for a Torque converter which will be in tomorrow. My friend is going to drive me to the store so I can get some groceries.
Tasty, Did you find a dress for your son's wedding yet? If so, what color is it?

Good Wednesday morning friends, hope this finds everyone well and happy today. Thought I would check in to see what everyone is up to today and than go out to my patio with a cup of coffee and watch the world go by for a while. I really don't want to do any work today but need to get a couple little things done, so will do that when I come back in. I haven't decided what to have for supper yet as my stomach is a little upset, will wait and see how it feels later. I hope to get here later and chat some more, have a good day and enjoy.

Good afternoon friends. It's been on and off rain all throughout the night and today up to this point. Tossed in for good measure, we've had some raging thunder too. Last night, our power went out twice. Today, we've had trouble with the tv signal and some local street flooding in town, but the really bad weather has been Tampa/St. Petersburg north, along the coast. Overnight, the depression which had gone further west then they predicted had finally turned north and was crawling at 2 miles per hour, but this morning planes found it to be stationary. Usually this is a sign that it is intensifying, and sometimes also debating where to go (the call is north Fl., across southern Ga. and SC.). The only nice thing about this weather is that it has held down our temperatures--low 80's is a treat from the mid-90"s.
Dinner tonight will be leftovers from last night--French dressing chicken and corn casserole, and to it I'll add some zucchini and fresh baked cookies .
Nancy, I hope having to wait all this week for your car you will find it running smoothly on Friday.
Need to go file some of the recipes that I copied from TOH this past month. Sad to see TOH Community go to the way-side after all these years, but I couldn't be more pleased with what we have here! Our new home has been a wonderful fit and more then welcoming thanks to everyone on the site. A special thank you to Bet for setting this up. Lori

Dinner is all over for the day. I also got 4# of ham loaf and made 20 ham balls and sauce and will take up to brothers on Sunday. I made beef hot dogs that was on face book today for dinner with hash browns, cucumbers and tomatoes w/pie. The hot dogs are put on chili bed and wrap each one with cheddar cheese stick cut in half the long way and rolled in pizza dough that is in the can. Then bake and drizzle with butter and parsley. The guys liked it but I was not crazy about it. I can be picky about my cooking!!
Tomorrow we will have ham balls and cheesy hash brown casserole if I go to the store will have baked pineapple.
Jason is finishing the last block and has the air conditioner up in the air and will let it down on the bricks when done. Chuck had been doing things I wanted done outside. Moving some dirt and rock and took out my clothes line posts, things that needed done. They both have been so helpful.
Hope all have a good day! Marlene

Afternoon, friends! Cloudy and muggy today. We had to buy a new refrigerator today!!! Yesterday afternoon I finally remembered to put a thermometer inside because I suspected it was not cooling correctly...it's been running a lot! Anyway, the thermometer registered over 50! Yikes! I turned up the dial, and got it to just over 40. Put dairy in my electric cooler. We have a second (older) fridge in the cellar, but it's a pain to go down there for everyday stuff. The freezer is OK. We went to our family owned appliance store and got a Maytag, bottom freezer, 22 cu. ft. It's a little smaller than the Amana I have now, but I liked the features. It comes with an ice maker, but we don't have the plumbing for it so I told them to remove it. I also am having them reverse the door. Right now our door stops at 90 degrees, and I can't take out the draws to clean them w/o taking everything off of the door. So guess what doesn't get done very often!?!?! So now it will swing to the left and will open 180 degrees. It will be delivered Saturday afternoon. This old refrigerator is 16 years old so it's time to get an Energy Star one, too. We got it cheaper than the price listed on this link. Tonight we are having the cassoulet with some ciabatta bread and a "German Tomato Salad". I don't have dill so I'll go out and clip some tarragon to use.
I looked up that tuna wiggle recipe. We used to have that with cod instead of tuna, and we, too, had it with mashed potatoes! We had it with a white sauce.
Tammy - While you are in VT, see if you can find Vermont Common Crackers...very yummy. You don't have to buy them there, most supermarkets have them w/o the tin. They would be perfect for the wiggle! They are also delicious with cheese...good ol' Vermont cheddar!!!
Lori - Shiver on the thunderstorm...not a brave person when those blow overhead. Is the French dressing chicken the one that you use a bottle of French salad dressing...if yes, my mom used to make that with Russian (oil) dressing.
Nancy - That's awful that you still don't have a car, but at least you know what's wrong.
Sara - Hope your tummy feels better!
Bonnie - Good to see you; your dinner sounds delicious. Elza - A team of horses couldn't get me to a massage!!! I'm glad it worked out well for you.
Have to get a move on. Waving to all! Enjoy the evening!
