Good morning friends.
Everyone's meals sounded so good yesterday.
I didn't take anything out for dinner from the freezer so I have no idea what we're having yet.
Tasty, I cut my toast the way you mentioned for my soft boiled eggs and it's a great idea!
Waving to everyone.
Enjoy your day.

Morning Nancy and all who follow.
My grandmother used to make toast soldiers for me when I was a little tot - always remembered that and did the same for my son when he was tiny - a looong time ago.
Supper tonight will be ham steaks and pineapple with cauliflower/potato cakes.
Canning this morning so I'd best get moving here.
Have a terrific Tuesday.

It is going to be hot here in San Diego today. My dd has PE last period today. Hopefully, they stay inside.
Dinner will be sheet pan fajitas, rice and beans.
Nancy, hope everything goes well with your car.
Tasty, I would love to learn to can. I need to do that sometime!
Have a great day.

Morning! Just having my first coffee and haven't thought any further than that! Takes me awhile to get my mojo going! ๐
Have fun canning, Tasty! Hope it's not too terribly warm in your kitchen.
See you all later after another coffee or two! LOL

Hello all. Cooking for one is pretty uninspiring, but tonight I am trying a new recipe. Chris posted a link for Tuna Pea Wiggle and I am whipping some up tonight.
I'm going to make some Stollen first, and if I'm still in the mood, some blondies.
Enjoy your day

Good morning. 52 and sunny. It is suppose to be a nice day. Yesterday I did get the baskets hung around the greenhouse frame. That should have been done around the 1st of July at the latest. Carried a lot of stuff to the garage and got it stored away.
Did spend some time in the kitchen. Made some chicken stock which turned out real good. Had enough that a made a pot of chicken vegetable soup. Dinner last night was OK but not as it should have been. I must have been asleep when I was making the hamburger helper. I always make 1/2 a batch however for some reason without thinking I added enough dried potatoes for a full batch so then had to add liquid to it which deteriorated from the flavor.
Menu has changed for tonight. I have Natalie and Cameron all day to day. My GGKs. This afternoon Addison will also be here. My GD. With 2 7 year olds and a 5 year old I think dinner will be the chicken vegetable soup and BLT sandwich. Quick and easy and still sticking with my from scratch challenge since you can buy the soup in a can. However, I will be cheating on the sandwich as I don't have any homemade bread. In fact after I feed the kids I may not have any bread. Wasn't expecting company today so wasn't prepared to serve breakfast and lunch. The snacks will be easy however.
Tasty, enjoy you canning today. Wish my garden had done well enough that I would be doing the some. I will be doing a couple of quarts of tomatoes by the first of next week. There will be bell peppers to freeze eventually.
Have a great day.
Bet

Good morning....I went to the store for a plant of mums I had seen the other day and was surprised to find they were all sold out...and this is a large store. Guess now that we are getting a little rain here in west Texas, people think of planting flowers. They are to get more in next week but I will know enough then to buy them when I see them!

Is another hot day coming up. We lucked out on the rain less than 1/2 " more south of us. The guys are here and I said something to Jason on the black cord going down my house so he came in and looked and its nothing to tv so taking it down and will look so much better without it. It comes from antenna and we have Dish on the tv so don't need it.
I have Chicken breasts in crockpot and doing the cream cheese sauce on them later, they are in 1/4 c water w/ Good Seasons Italian Dry Dressing on them. They are smelling good. We will have that over Amish noodles also Escalloped Cabbage w/ cheese and Raspberry/ Vanilla Pie I made this morning.
Hoping your car will be done today Nancy and fixed right. That would be a bummer no car to do anything.
Lori and Helen hope you mess all the storms. That would be scary for me. I don't like the wind . We have had a couple days of that and would be not near what you go through.
Bet you have a time with putting away your green houses. Sounds like a lot of work but if you enjoy having them up power to you. I had one Canna Bulb come up that was planted years ago by windmill and three deer where down there and the one deer I seen took a bite out of it. I used to plant so many flowers and they chew everything!! So don't bother anymore.
Chris enjoy your camping trip. I have been invited to go brother's for BBQ. His boys are coming home as he is not doing well. He is on Hospice now and matter of time. Dr. Said it would be fast. The oldest is here now from Guam and two others are coming to play baseball in the US. Daughter is here. He has 7 boys and one daughter. He is the oldest and 86 yrs old. He lived all his adult life over there and worked for Civil Service.
Better get my cabbage pare boiled and get the cream sauce made for the oven. Been using my counter oven for a lot. To hot in kitchen even w/ air conditioning.
Everyone have a good day! Marlene

When you all talk about a "counter oven", are you talking about toaster oven or something else? Thanks.

Hi everyone,
Another hottie inside my house already this morning. Not cooling till Thursday. I wouldn't mind it if I had A/C. Either these summers are hotter lately or it bothers me more the older I get. The house warms up and remains hot in here. I just cant keep my hair dry...yuck! I'm way past due for a cut and color, its way too thick and long! Never gone this long (6mos.) I look like a reverse skunk, ha ha!
Leftovers from last nights dinner will do me fine tonight, just love them.
Nancy, most of us had pork in one form or another last night if memory serves. I always do toast soldiers with soft boiled eggs. Im thinking its a British thing and tasty and I both started out across the pond. :)
Tasty your dinner sounds good.
Betsy those fajitas have my mouth watering girl!๐ I no likey this heatโน๏ธ as one of my sons said when he was 2 or 3.
Angela I used to live for my morning coffee until my knee replacement in May 2010 and I have not cared for it when I wake up since, it's bizarre! I do love iced coffee however which I didn't before???
Valerian, tell me about it. Thats why I put that recipe together. If you notice the bow tie pasta has only 1oz. It was for calories and for one.
Bet, your weather sounds like Heaven to me. Enjoy your GGK's today.
Pippin, a couple of years ago I spray painted several of those $1.00 Wal Mart purple or green Halloween pumpkins the kids use for trick or treating an off white cream color and filled them with big bunches of artificial fall colored mums from the Dollar Tree . I got it off Pinterest and they turned out super cute. Would work for the porch as well and you can stick in real mums in their pot. I turn the faces to the back. I love Pinterest...just ask Nancy or Betsy ha ha!
Marlene your dinner sounds right up my alley. Glad you have guys helping you get that man stuff done around the house. I used to do a lot outside to save my hubby when he wasn't working but sometimes its great to let the guys do some things. My Nephew has done a lot for me around here since DH passed in 2005. I am so sorry to hear your Brother is poorly. Glad his family is there now!
More shrub trimming to do today to put out with the trash but I'm not doing it!! Think I will get in my car and go somewhere with A/C .๐ค
Enjoy your day everyone.

Afternoon, friends! Beautiful day here today...perfect for the first day of school. Went to the senior center and to the farm stand on the way home. Got a mess of green tomatoes...going to make another batch of piccalilli (uncooked)...a friend from the center gave me a bag of Hungarian peppers again. She and her DH cannot stand hot peppers so I'm the lucky recipient!
Bill is making a recipe posted as a VFE challenge...it has to be reviewed before Labor Day...comments may be used in one of the magazines...that's a new thing they will be doing, I guess. Anyway, he's making Cassoulet for Today...aroma is great! He's serving it tomorrow so it will "mellow" in the fridge overnight.
We had about 12 ounces of baked beans left from dinner the other night. I used them in a bread recipe...baked bean bread! Originally was a bread machine recipe but I made it with my processor and let it rise, etc. Because I used Irish Flour (coarsely ground whole wheat, it didn't rise a lot, but it sure tastes good!) I think it will go really well with some soup or stew.
Tonight we are having hamburgers that I bought at Aldi's and some of Trader Joe's Garlic fries. Hope everyone has a great evening!

When I first saw the post about Tuna Pea Wiggle, Chris, I had envisioned something like a jelled salad. Couldn't have been further away from the truth.

We had stuffed green peppers, spinach, and fresh sliced tomatoes for supper. It's been raining on and off all afternoon but nothing scary yet. I think we may be out of the worst. Good luck, Lori, and anybody else north of here. Sweet dreams.
