We had shrimp, French fries, and slaw for supper. I mixed horseradish with ketchup for our cocktail sauce and got a little too generous with the horseradish. Tasty but a bit too spicy. I tidied up the lanai and brought some smaller things indoors just in case we get higher winds than forecast with this storm. Lots of rain, too, but that should be ok. I think Lori, being farther north will get it worse than we will. Batten down the hatches!

Good evening CC friends! Nancy- Hope you have gotten good news about the car by now. Just saw the newer post! Sorry you will not have it till tomorrow! I would go stir crazy too! Tasty- I like your supper! LOL I have to do that sometimes. Wow Bet! That is hot!!! We were only up to 78 today!
Tammy- Sounds like a good time in Canada so far! I am glad for you. Have you been this route before? Valerian- I love toasted tomato sandwiches during the summer with those fresh tomatoes! Will miss it for sure too!
Betsy- I could have slept in too! LOL Sara- I love a good pea salad. My DM used to make a Tuna Pea Wiggle also! LOL Realize she did not know how to make it right but we were used to what she made! LOL Bet- I love having extra stock on hand. Especially for the winter soups! Boy Marlene- Those guys must weight about 10 pounds heavier than when they started this job! LOL Glad it is winding down. Bet they aren't! LOL Eating too good! Pippin- Anything Maple you can get here in VT. Tell me what you are looking for and I can send it to you! I am sure they will have it here. Ann- My DH makes his own Kraut! He makes it just that way but he adds carrots and onions to his. Jan- I think we have the Smokehouse Maple here. I can get it for Pippin if she would like. If it has Maple in it it is in Vermont! LOL Helen- Hope you don't get too much of the storm! Lori- Are you hunkered down? I hope so! My friend who lives just above Ft Lauderdale says she is getting drenched. We went to The China Buffet in Claremont tonight. I needed to do grocery shopping as we are going camping this weekend Friday night to Monday afternoon. So I needed to get it all to freeze for the cooler on Friday. Hampton NH! Was a good day at work today so I will have a restful night. Everyone behaved themselves! LOL No one arrested and no one tried anything bad! Always a good day! Chris (2 yep 2 HC's today just because!!! )

Good evening friends. It was just day #6 of the school year, and much to my surprise, I got a call this morning for subbing (really didn't expect anything until after Labor Day). The call came late, but lucky for me it was the school just 5 minutes from the house. Had a very nice class of kindergarten children, although one cried for his mother all day! It was an exciting and busy day with the 1st fire drill of the year, and in the computer lab, today also was the first day of testing for reading for these little ones. If no sooner, I will be with the same children in October when their teacher needs an afternoon off for a personal matter.
When I got home I quickly made a Shepard's Pie for our dinner. Simple and quick, yet tasty.
Jan, the pasta on Saturday evening really hit the spot. I wasn't sure if DH would enjoy it since it wasn't swimming in sauce, but he really liked it and asked me when I thought we'd have it again. That was a sure sign that it's a keeper!
As for the tropical stuff out there, like so many, they have a mind of their own. This one has been all over the place the last week or two, but it finally looks like it's coming into the gulf. Forecasters , as well as the spaghetti models are taking it in north of Tampa, but our town is in the cone of uncertain at this point. In any case, I'll be on the east side of the storm, or maybe southeast, and that is the side that sees the most action during a tropical storm/hurricane. Every radio station and tv station is saying something just a little bit different from the other, so what it does and where it goes, who knows. Rainfall from the feeder bands could be quite a bit and then again, the farther north it goes, the less we could see. From the age of 10 until I moved to Florida in my late 20's, I've see my share of hurricanes on both coasts so I don't worry because I am prepared--the hurricane kit with important papers, flashlights, food items, meds, etc. is always ready just incase. We have high impact windows and doors and take things in off the back lanai and place it into the garage. After 33 years here, I'm set to go.
Got to go get a few things done yet before I slip off to bed. Goodnight. Lori

Hope you have a good rest Lori! And you sound all prepared for the storms! LOL We have only had 2 hurricanes this far North. 5 years ago was Irene. Did a lot of damage to our property here. We got evacuated to the High School and that was not pleasant! LOL DH refused to go. Chris

Chris, thanks for the offer but will check WalMart and Costco first and just might take you up on your very kind offer. Actually my son and Dil were in Vermont this weekend but left before I knew I would want it! They love it there.

Valerian LOL !! What you never had it?? You poor deprived lady! houseofjoyfulnoise.com/tuna-pea-wiggle/ this is a link to a version. My mom just made it from peas, tuna and water with cornstarch. We had it on mashed potatoes. She salted it but no pepper. I make with with milk and I still like it on mashed! Chris

Like Tasty, I've never heard of anything like this.Honestly, I'd never heard of tuna as a kid either. The recipe did make me think of other things we ate in a white sauce though! Thanks, Chris!

We used to have creamed tuna and peas but was thickened with flour, not cornstarch. Was an inexpensive meal to feed 5 kids. And we had it on toast. Never heard it Called a wiggle but I do like that name!
