Good morning friends.
Another hot and humid day here.
Will give the mechanic until noon and then call to see what's up with my car.
Leftovers for dinner tonight, either pork roast and sides or ravioli.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning Nancy and all who follow.
Hope you get some good news about the car Nancy.
Supper tonight will be chicken and salsa with rice. Not what I'd intended but when I opened the fridge this morning, there are so many partly used jars of "stuff" that I decided we had better use them before I have to toss them. Ice cream and /or raspberries for dessert if we want some.
Have a marvelous Monday.

Good morning. Another beautiful sunny day here. Yesterday while working on the deck in the sun it was 111 out there. Couldn't stay for very long and would have to come in and cool off. The high in the shade was around 83. Fortunately here on the mountain we have a breeze most of the time that keeps the house quite nice. Just another day working on the deck. It is amazing what a mess one can make when working in 2 greenhouses out there since the 1st of April. Guess I'm just not working at it very hard but need to get done as there are lots of other things that need attention outside. The house can wait for a rainy day.
Tonight's dinner will be hamburger helper beef stroganoff make with dehydrated potatoes rather than noodles. Have leftover green beans almondine to go with it.
Nancy, sure hope they get your car fixed. I still don't have my tire back on my car. DS couldn't find a thing wrong with it. He will put it back on tomorrow night when he gets through work and see what happens.
Have a great day.

Good Morning ! Nancy, good luck with the car situation.
Today is a travel day, so nothing planned for certain. I have some pork chops in the freezer that think I will thaw.
Today is cloudy again. Yesterday was too, but it was pleasant. We drove to where GPS sent us and ended up at the middle of nowhere, on a country lane. We used Siri and she got us to the right place. We spent a couple hours there and enjoyed talking to the owner. We left there and it was almost 3 so we looked for a place for lunch. We found bistro called Table DArthur. There were only a few people still there but they were still serving food. Our waitress was nice. She was born in Belgium, and then lived in Naples. She came to Canada about 20 years ago. DH had a steak and frites. I had a grilled salmon filet. Everything was wonderful. An adorable dog came wandering in, and it turns out that was Arthur! This waitress was so excited to have someone from Texas there that she had a picture taken of us!
We also drove farther south to see a couple very old windmills-one was built in 1674. It was not open and no longer had the blades on it. The other building was open but had been refurbished and had an art exhibit going on.
Need to go and get packed up. I'll check in later.

Good morning. Nancy, hope your car troubles are over soon!
I'm going to make some stuffed meatballs and pop them in the freezer today. As for me, I will eat BLT's until the tomatoes are gone. There are only four left-I may cry.

Good Monday morning to everyone. I don't have any plans for today except to make a pea salad, as so many here have asked for it. I had a good week-end enjoying some family time and good home cooking. It is cloudy here today with chance of spotty showers off and on today. I hope you all will have a good day.

Hello everyone- did get a little rain this morning and it is in the forecast today and tomorrow. Jason came in and put up nice shades in my spare bedroom. So now I got different curtains as my night light on the pole shines in there. So now think will go back sheers with the shades being up. I don't like the other heavy curtains. Chuck had a flat tire on his truck so took it to town and will pick it up later. He is working on basement window and taking it out and closing it up so they can finish the brick work which is about done. Jason went to gravel pit and got some river rock that they will put in a few places. Which I will like !
We are having baked pork steak in brown gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, tomatoes and garlic bread. There is left over dessert for them to eat. Will do dishes and doctors appt. at 2:00 today. Will get few groceries too. I did bake a batch of Amish sugar cookies this morning. I mixed them up last night.
Nancy good luck with your car hope it is fixed right for you now.

Scottishgal...I searched every spice jar and packet today and can't find the maple smokehouse one...did find a brown sugar bourbon one that I want to try but don't think that will work in your recipe... Have one more store to check but it is mostly Hispsnic so doubt they will have it. Any other suggestion? Thanks. I have everything else.
Annrms..in case you don't see my comment on yesterday's thread...that SL pasta recipe was very good.

Afternoon, friends! It's warm and muggy today. I just finished making a small batch of sauerkraut. If you like sauerkraut, it's really easy to make a small batch...3 pounds cabbage shredded; 1 1/2 tablespoons kosher salt; 1 tablespoon caraway seed. Have to "massage" the cabbage for 10 minutes in a large bowl (use a rubber glove) then press into a 2 quart canning jar. Place a jelly jar filled with water on top of some whole cabbage leaves to help keep it submerged. Cover it with cheesecloth and continue to press down for a few more hours. Let ferment 5-10 days and refrigerate. Nancy - Hope you got your car back!!! Tammy - Happy Trails to You!!! Tasty - I was just going to ask the same question about day lilies! Pippin - Glad you liked the pasta; will try next week, I think! You can get that spice blend on Amazon. Tonight we are finishing the Cuban Beans and rice along with the salsa. Waving to all! Enjoy your evening!

Ann, just checked and it is one of those add on items and I don't want to spend the money just to add that on...that policy bugs me! But will keep it in mind. Thanks.

Happy Monday everyone. The weather here is supposed to warm up a couple of days then cool back down to low 80's. I do love the sunshine but am full on ready for winter since fall here can be over 90 or higher into Nov. or even Dec.!
I forgot all about the shrimp bowtie pasta I planned to have and already started defrosting pork steak to make with zucchini casserole which I have been craving a lot lately. Might as well when it is in plentiful supply. I will just bake pork steak it the oven with BBQ sauce the last few min. I prefer it on the grill but need propane for the grill. I love chicken, pork steak or ribeye steak on the grill any old day of the week in fact anytime of the year.
I need to do a quick Wal Mart run and pick up a USB cable. My DDIL called last night and told me they are all (usb's) the same for printers or computers so I was happy I didn't have to hunt down one specifically for the Epson printer. Guess I'll get a few food items while there. Not much here for breakfast.
Nancy, I am so sorry about your car. Car stuff makes me nervous being a widow with no mechanical ability. Who likes car problems???...No one, thats who!!!
Lori, how was your pasta last night? It sounded really easy and tasty. I copied it off to try. I hope you don't get clobbered with one of those storms!!!
Valerian, nothing better than beautiful fresh tomatoes from the garden. I have not had one in years since my Sister grew several plants of beefsteak tomatoes, YUM! Boy what I'd give for one now. The ones at grocery are pretty tasteless compared to home grown. I usually only buy plum tomatoes anymore, usually to make salsa with.
Betsy, I pinned Pioneer Woman's Big Steak Salad either yesterday or Sat? Looks so yummy and right up my alley. Going on my menu SOON!
Sara, pea salad is one of my favorites. My Sis used to make it in the 60-70's all the time when raising her 4 sons. It was a favorite by all even though most kids don't care for peas. I still make it but over the years I have added crispy bacon, sharp cheddar instead of mild, canned and drained sliced mushrooms and here lately I started using cashews in it too. It is so good! I could eat it as THE meal. :)
Pippin, glad you saw the recipe. I dont know how to open more than one window on my phone so I cant go look. Did I tell you its a McCormick spice? Smokehouse Maple in a 15.5oz jar at Costco but probably 3oz. at WalMart and other markets here in Southern Calif. It has got sugar, salt, brown sugar, spices?, onion, garlic, maple syrup, red bell peppers, orange peel, paprika, molasses, chili pepper, smoke flavoring. Its great on steak too.
Darn it Pippin I am so sorry! As you see from the list I cant think of anything that could sub for that flavor. I remember telling my girlfriend who liked it so much at my house to be sure and use only that spice or it wont taste like mine. I am so used to having every store possible here I forget that not everyone lives in my suburbs and if your rural you probably have a lot less stores to choose from.
Last evening I realized that I probably cant post pics with my phone to here. Lord knows I tried! I came on late a couple of times while testing it.
One good thing, In the process of trying I found out my Photo Bucket account is still there...yea!!!! Thought it was gone for sure. Sometimes if you don't go to a site in over a year it closes.
Well I have jabbered on long enough. I hope everyone is having a good start to your week.🌹
~Jan~
