Afternoon, friends! Got quite warm this afternoon so we have the AC on low. Some showers are predicted overnight so I hope we get wet!
Betsy - Oh, ouch! I remember stepping on some glass at the beach...had to get stitches...I was supervising a group of girls from a "home", and it was not "convenient" if you know what I mean! Good thing...I met my husband!!! Hope DD isn't uncomfortable. When I was at Trader Joe's recently, I bought "Bacon Jam"...going to have burgers and fries tomorrow using it on the burgers. I have TJ's garlic fries to use, too!!!
I made a frittata this morning to use up the veggies and rice from last night. Will be breakfast for a few days.
Bet - Hope your greenhouse work was easier today. Hope DS' experiment is good tonight!!!
Posy - Scrambled eggs and potatoes sound good to me!!!
Tasty - I used yogurt in the frittata today. I "christened" my new blender and mixed the eggs, yogurt, and some parmesan that I poured over the other ingredients. I really like Greek style yogurt. One of my favorite things is to add garlic and herbs to it to make a dip or topping for pasta or baked potato.
Tammy - I love your travel tidbits...thanks for taking the time to share your experiences. Maybe you can meet Chris and me at some place near where you are camping! Since it's Labor Day weekend, it would be (maybe) better to meet someplace "inland"! Just sayin'.
Sara - Dinner sounds right up my alley!!! Yum!
Pippen - I cut out that recipe from Southern Living, too!!!
Marlene - Love BLT's. Do you "weave" your bacon raw and cook it so it is a "plank" to fit on your bread? It's quite awesomely easy and delicious.
Jan - I saw Giada today...; she has interesting recipes. I saw a "special" about her one time. When she started on TV she was so "shy" she could hardly talk.
Hope everyone has a deliciously comfortable night! Waving!

Good evening friends. Sounds like everyone has had a lovely day. I'm feeling sluggish today and haven't done too much.
DH wanted to go over to Bass Pro this morning to buy a cover for the boat motor, so we walked around there for a few hours. Stopped on the way home to put the cover on the boat, then stopped over at Home Depot to look and see what they had for choices when it comes to a new counter tops.
While DH cut up and packaged the sale meat from yesterday, I got dinner going. I actually turned on the oven today so I could bake a turkey breast. Sides will be green beans and tomatoes (Dee Drummond recipe--new to me), and thanks to Stove Top, stuffing. I did finally mix up the cookie dough, but will have to wait to bake them hopefully tomorrow some time.
Tammy, your travels sound so beautiful! I always enjoy reading where you go!
Going to go wrap up the baby outfits I purchased yesterday and have the package ready to take over to the post office tomorrow.
May you have a peaceful and relaxing evening. Lori

Pippin, yes I will be happy to share it as soon as I find where I put it. I think its in my review collection from TOH that I just copied off with my phone.
I have been over on Photobucket for the first time in 3 years maybe and snagged the link to the pic and I cant for the life of me find the little envelope or what message box to use. I am so computer illiterate and add doing it on the phone makes it harder for my old brain ha ha! I don't see what it says I should see above the message box. Sigh!😄 Anyway ill post it here when I find the recipe. Its just something I threw together on a diet and really love it so I did the measurement thing for one person. Keeping in mind by dinner time I was really hungry and I ate the whole plate. I was on 1,200 cal a day diet. I usually had a butter lettuce (TJ's bagged) salad with 2-Tbs Kraft FF Caesar salad dressing with it. . .

“
"Jan’s Shrimp, Peas & Bow Ties”
This is my favorite little low cal go to meal since I started my diet in Jan 2011. It gives me a pasta fix with very little pasta or calories. ~Jan~
3 oz Large Wal Mart frozen shrimp
1 oz Barilla Piccolini Mini Farfalle
¼ cup Classico Signature Recipe Light Creamy Afredo
½ cup frozen early peas
2 shallots sliced into rings
1-2 tsp. minced garlic * I use 2
McCormick Grillmates Smokehouse Maple seasoning to your taste (I like a lot, maybe 2 Tbs. or more, kicks up the heat factor)
1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
1 Tbs Parmesan-Romano blend cheese
About 1-2 hours before dinner I put frozen shrimp in Zip Lock baggie and sprinkle with Grillmates Maple seasoning while defrosting. After defrosted remove tails. They defrost pretty quickly so sometimes I do it early in the day and then refrigerate it until dinnertime. Drop bow tie pasta into boiling salted water and cook 10 minutes; drain (reserve some pasta water). Meanwhile spray skillet with cooking spray. Cook shallots and garlic for about 5-7 minutes adding a little pasta water if needed to keep from sticking. Add shrimp to pan with shallots and garlic and cook until pink and cooked through. Add peas, Alfredo sauce and pepper flakes to the pan adding about ¼ cup or less pasta water. After everything is heated through add cooked bow tie pasta to the pan. Serve with grated parmesan-Romano blend cheese sprinkled over top. 310 calories for the entire dish *I get the smokehouse maple seasoning at Costco but they have it in the grocery stores here. *I also use the pre grated Parm Romano blend in a jar in Wal Mart right next to the parm in the green can by Kraft. Wal Mart also carries the Classico Light Alfredo.
Looks like its all here minus the two pics. Sorry it all runs together. 😳
Im losing it! Looked in the fridge and I have to finish the beef curry tonight or it will go off so making this tomorrow.
Helen, sending hugs friend!

The Pizza Hut called out to me in a dream and said" please come by and get an Italian meatball pizza." So I did.

Checking back in and reading posts.
Tasty, thank you for being so nice.
Nancy and Ann ouch on your past injuries. They never happen at a good time. She's doing fine except for a little complaining about the size of the antibiotic pill. LOL.
I made some pumpkin bread this afternoon. A bit early but my son thought I made some the other day. He came in from work and smelled coffee cake and thought it was pumpkin bread. He was disappointed so I made him some.
Waving to all.

Betsy, I was here still trying to figure out how to post pictures and have come to the conclusion that I can not do it from my cell phone which is my only computer so to speak right now. This will push me into hooking up the new computer (need a cord, usb?). I was all psyched up and ready to bravely hook it up with the new monitor and printer and the box said I need a printer cord so I ran....not walked as fast away from it as I could!! Any excuse. I'm scared of it in case I mess up. Stupid I know but me and that THING are at a stand off ha ha! Once I do it I'll realize how stupid I've been for 2 1/2 years! (Yes years. It will be out of date before its hooked up!). Wish I knew one techey type human!😄
Anyway I forgot to tell you how bad I feel for your DD. Sure wish people would be more careful what they toss on the beaches. Some have even planted needles at parks in Cali for kids to step on...sickos!
If the med is in pill form perhaps you could cut it into hslfs or thirds? Hope she heals quickly. Hugs, Jan

Hope this works pippin. I copied from TOH Reply Posted: Jul 17, 2011 6:29 PM in Cook's Corner Looks like its all here minus the two pics. Helen, sending hugs friend! Hi Helen! You mentioned using Photo Bucket and having difficulty finding the "insert" icon on the toolbar. There is another way of posting a picture that you might find simpler. Look for the "img" code, the second from the bottom, copy the address there & simply paste into your post wherever you want the picture to show. You should see something like the picture I'll post here. Take note of the "img" line near the bottom. Hope this works for you. I know how difficult it is using your phone & that is something I have given up on even though I have the bigger IPhone 6! If you can't figure this out, perhaps you could email the picture to someone to post for you. In fact, I would do it for you if you decide you'd like that. 😊

Hey everybody. It's been a busy weekend as my sisters & I spent all day yesterday cleaning out at Mom's apartment. We got a lot done -- more than I thought we would -- but there's still more to do. We'll do this again in two weeks. It was a very nice evening, though, as we gathered at my sister & DBIL's house for burgers and birthday cake since it was my sister's birthday. DBIL did something a little different with the burgers as they were smoked instead of grilled. Very tasty! My sister got an extra-special early birthday present on Friday: a new grandbaby! Their son and his wife in Tennessee had baby #2 -- a little boy named Davis Belson. They left this morning to go up and see them for a few days.
So Saturday was a busy day but today's been pretty quiet. DS#2 is still here but leaves on Wednesday for an extended research trip up the East Coast (Chapel Hill, Charlottesville, DC, Boston, New Haven, Hyde Park). He should be back around mid-November. And DS#1 called this afternoon so we got to catch up with him a bit. He starts class tomorrow -- beginning his 4th year of seminary studies. He's halfway through. He made a visit to see cousins in Colorado and friends in San Diego this month so didn't have much rest time this summer. He's looking forward to the long weekend coming up. Me too!

Jan,
If I we lived closer one of my techy kids could help you. DD stepped on the pin while at Pacific Beach here in San Diego. I told her thank goodness it was not a hypodermic needle. She has to see her regular dr for further tests since we don't know where the pin has been. So gross and annoying.

I remember a beach vacation with the family when I was about 11 years old. I cut my foot on a piece of glass in the sand. My aunt, a nurse, bandaged it up but the next day I had red streaks running up my leg! Had to go to the doctor and the result was that, in addition to a tetanus shot and antibiotics, I couldn't go in the water for the rest of the week. That was a bummer, having to sit on the beach and watch my siblings and cousins playing in the waves. Can you tell I'm still bitter about that? :)
