Good morning friends.
I was up early this morning and I already have a big pot of meatballs and sausage simmering. It smells so good in here. Everyone is still sleeping.
For breakfast I think I'll have soft boiled eggs. Haven't had those in a long time.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning, Nancy and all to follow. It's a lovely windows open morning! We have no big plans for today...typical Sunday.
Tonight we are having baked beans, hot dogs, slaw and brown bread...DH's request.
Last night's dinner was outstanding...definitely a keeper on both recipes.
My cousin is visiting my mom today and is bringing a broccoli quiche for lunch. I am making them a TOH recipe for "Garden Tomato Salad" that I saw on Facebook. It has a light oil & vinegar dressing with fresh herbs.
I was able to count the "Shrimp & Corn Stir-Fry" as my final ingredient challenge for this week. TOH community will cease to exist on Wednesday. I must say that having this site as a "fallback" is a blessing. I hope many more friends will come on over. Waving to all...I will check in later.

Good morning!
I am up early, too Nancy. Your sauce simmering away sounds delightful.
Ann, your New England dinner sounds delish!
I ended up spending 3 hours in urgent care yesterday with my oldest daughter. She stepped on a rusty saftey pin at the beach. It was quite a slice of life to say the least. She's fine. Had to get a tetanus shot and antibiotic.
We will grill burgers today and I will deep fry some French fries. Have a great day.

Good morning. Unlike the rest so far I wasn't up as early as usual. No particular reason except I didn't feel like getting out of bed and fell back to sleep. Hate when I do that. Will continue to work on the front deck and getting everything cleaned up out there. First thing as soon as the dew is off the greenhouse that is coming down. Then I can really get to work out there. Lots of things to be carried to the garage and stored until next April when the greenhouses go back up. Well actually some of it will come in the house before the first frost and then by January it will be seed starting time in the house again.
I am hoping the other greenhouse doesn't get up to 115 like it was yesterday. Couldn't stay out there long and had to come in for a break. Last night had goulash from the freeze and made green beans almondine with the last of the green beans I had in the refrigerator. Also pulled a part of a loaf of bread from the freezer and had enough to make 3 individual ramekins of bread pudding. No cooking today. Will be going to DS's for dinner. It is his turn this week. Never know what I will get there. He likes to experiment with new recipes.
Have a great day.

No idea yet. Do want to make my tomato salad that I always have at least once while they are in season. So maybe will get to that. Not sure what else we will have. I have roast in freezer, but not thawed, so that will be for another day this week. I will find something I suppose. Last night was scrambled eggs, some potatoes and odds and ends I had. When it is hot I don't do oven dishes either.

Good morning all. An early start here as well this morning. I have already been out to water the veggies that needed water so badly - using the rain barrel and gray water - no guilt about using what is in short supply.
Bet your house smells good this morning Nancy. Do you make toast soldiers to go with the soft boiled eggs?
Ann, I couldn't agree more about having this site. I really do like it. Reminds me of TOH in the early days,
Ouch, Betsy. Glad your oldest is OK . That changed yesterday's plans, didn't it? Have I said how nice it is to see you back posting.
You must have needed the sleep Bet. Don't knock it. Hope it's not as humid for you as it is here today. Even early on it was not comfortable outside. Glad I said no to playing competetitve golf today. Instead hubby is playing with his buddy.
I think I shall raid the fridge tonight and see what I can find to go in a salad for myself (hubby will eat before coming home). One night this last week we had yogurt, raspberries and granola instead of "dinner" and it was so good. The kind of thing I would never have done years ago when our son was still living at home.
Have a special Sunday.

Good Morning ! It's a cloudy day here. DH tells me that the rain is coming but won't get here until maybe 3. We are hoping to go south of Quebec and visit the large botanical garden. Betsy, so sorry about your DD's accident. I bet that smarted when it happened. Sara, your story about the tree being gone now reminds me of my MIL's house. She had sliding patio doors and a tree right at the edge. She loves birds so had several feeders hanging. We used to love watching them. I don't remember why but she had the tree taken out. I love trees and I miss it, but you are right about no messy leaves falling and lots more light. Bet, we are staying at Camping Transit in Levis. It was recommended to us and it's very nice. It is across the river from Quebec so we had to take a ferry over. The campground provides a shuttle service to the port. Yesterday we drove ourselves so took the bridge over.
We drove quite a bit trying to find the waterfalls at Parc Montmorency. Thanks to GPS, we landed in a residential section of town. Then we tried using Siri, and we drove several miles closer to the correct area, but still were not in the right place. And there were no signs that we could find! Finally we stumbled upon the entrance. We walked up to the suspension bridge up above the falls and we took the cable car down to the bottom and back up. then we had lunch on the terrace - a late lunch at 3- and had a table looking at the falls. I had rigatoni with a tomato sauce of cherry tomatoes, grilled eggplant and some black olives. It was delicious. DH had a steak with frites (French fries).
Then we drove over to I'le d'Orleans. We drove around the island, stopping at a house built in 1752. then it was added onto about 30 years later. We stopped at a fromagerie and bought some cheese, then walked next door to a house built in the 1700's, but it was almost closing time so decided to skip the tour. By then it was about 6 p.m. so we came home. After dark we drove back down to the town on Levis where we took some photos of Quebec at night. It is a beautiful view as the lights are shining on the city wall and also lots of lights on the gorgeous Chateau Frontenac.
I'm not sure of which campground we'll be staying at, Chris.. Again, some friends recommended it so we went ahead and made some reservations. I'll have to do some research and let you know. I think we get there on the 2nd of September and will stay for 7 nights.
Have a super day!

Good Sunday morning to everyone. It is a bright sunny day out where I live, but it is going to bring back the muggies the rest of the week. I plan on having my meatloaf from yesterday and maybe some scalloped potatoes, fresh green beans, corn on the cob, cucumbers and onions. My daughter is coming over and bringing some groceries for me so I want to feed her. She picked up some great specials for me, as there was a 3 day special going on. Ketchup was .49 a bottle, potato chips .99, 5pound bag of russet potatoes .99, Nabisco chocolate chip cookies .99 cents. That was just a few of the special our store had. I guess I better go make the potatoes and do the clean up on the mess I will make. Have a great Sunday and enjoy.

Yesterday I made the Lemon Glazed Zucchini Bread that my physical therapist gave me the recipe for...very good....think it might be a TOH recipe but I have seen it on other sites. Tonight I am trying a Southern Living recipe with roasted tomatoes, shrimp, and pasta. Am one of those pasta lovers that could eat it ever night!

Hello to everyone- Went to church and went in early and snuck out as I parked by the kitchen entrance. Did not have to tell everyone why I had this boot. Came home and made BLT's w/chips for dinner w/crystal light lemonade. Hit the spot. These fresh tomatoes are so good. Had leftover goulash last night and have some left for another night. Does not take much to please me. Everyone's meals sound good to me.
Just going to take it easy today as I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow afternoon. Just have pork steak out that I will brown and make gravy and bake for tomorrow's dinner with mashed potatoes and mixed veggie. They can have the rest of dessert. Nothing strenuous, just dishes to do and mix up a batch of cookies and bake later.
Sunday's always seem so long.

Supper tonight roast beef, mashed spuds , carrots , salad and homemade buns. Cookies for dessert. I'm not much on baking.
Question ? How do you add pictures? Going to do some books today before I can't see my desk!
Sounds like everyone is have a good day.

Oh Betsy! never a dull moment. I sliced my finger on a soup can lid about 6 years ago and had to get stitches and a tetanus shot. I hope your DD isn't in a lot of pain.
Tasty, I didn't make toast soldiers, I just cut them in 1/2.
Tammy, Your trip sounds amazingly beautiful.
Looks like everyone is keeping busy.

Pat, to add pictures, you need to have an account with photobucket or some other photo storer on line. I use photobucket so the only one I can help you with. It is free. Transfer your photos from your computer to there. When you want to post a photo, click on the picture and go to edit and downsize it so 450 in width, the height will automatically follow. Save and then click on the direct link that you will see to the right of the picture and copy that. Come here, open the message box, click on the little icon at the top of the message box to the left of the envelop there and past the picture into the url box. Hit insert and you have it.

Good Sunday afternoon lovely ladies. I have happily sat here since 9:00 am (its 12:30 now) without a twinge of guilt watching the Food Network. After watching Giada in Italy make a pasta dish I have decided on my dinner, I cant wait! I'm making the low cal "Shrimp, Pasta Peas & Bowties" I used to make all the time during my long diet.
It feels good inside but quite warm outside so inside it is today!
Maybe I will whip up my "Boysenberry Almond Bars" using Pillsbury sugar cookie dough as a cheater. Quick, tasty and stupid easy!😉
I hope everyone has a much blessed Sunday evening.
