redsoxmom- we camp at Shel-Al every year now for several years. WE used to camp at Tidewater but the owners have gotten so mean and nasty no one hardly goes there anymore. Lots of permanents have left too. Chris

Just in for a break. The greenhouse I am working in hit 114 a little while ago so things are going slower than I like. Lots of breaks. If you are not in the sun it is a beautiful day. I have the house wide open with a great breeze most of the time so just step off the deck into the house to cool down. Have gotten 25 pots and baskets cleaned up so far. Everything is out of the way to take one greenhouse down. Just need to get one more rack out of there. That is the next step but then there is all the carrying to the garage and getting things stored for the winter. Want to get the cover off that one greenhouse and get it folded and put in its box before it gets wet again.
It is amazing how many of us live in such close proximity to each other. Ann many of the towns you mentioned I recognized. Chris, this fall you need to plan a bike trip and we can meet. Unfortunately due to my age I don't do a lot of distance driving. I know the exact same routes you are talking about with your bike trips.
We I have been on break long enough. This work doesn't get done sitting in front of this computer. Will check back later.

Good afternoon friends. Sounds like everyone is keeping busy. DH made me breakfast this morning--pancakes. I really appreciated it, but like a lot of cooks, he's not the best at cleaning up after himself. After I wiped down the stove top and counters and then loaded the dishwasher, we went together over to Target. A dear friend of mine welcomed her 1st grandchild, so I needed to pick up a few outfits for the baby--will mail them out on Monday. From there we went to the grocery store where they had a great sale on meat. My freezer said no because I am finally being to see the actual shelves, but DH couldn't control himself--picked up 2 chuck roasts and 2 pork roasts.
Once back, I made up two batches of croutons and a dozen of breakfast burritos for the freezer. I'm taking a few minutes break then will head back into the kitchen. Hope to bake some cookies next.
(((Helen))), having been a care giver to both of my parents for over 25 years, I know only too well what your days are like, I've walked in those shoes too. I hope it comforts you just a little to know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you.
Marlene, thanks for the recipe--sounds really good!
Ann, I thank you too for the salsa recipe. So colorful!
Nancy, sorry about your car.
Chris, I haven't even had time to turn the tv on today to check on the weather, but last night it did look like the tropical storm was leaning more towards Louisiana...those poor people do not need any more rain! We are having a very heavy rain as I write---coupled with the strong winds, I can not see across the street. Guess I'll try to tune into the evening news and see what is the latest.
Dinner tonight will be roasted tomato spaghetti. At the Amish market yesterday I was able to find some really nice plum tomatoes on the mark-down shelf---I'll quarter those, season them with, salt, pepper, and a bit of sugar, drizzle with oil, garlic, and a little parsley. Bake until tender, toss with the spaghetti, sprinkle with cheese. Salad on the side and garlic bread. If the cookies get done, DH can have a few for dessert, but most will go directly to the freezer.
Break time is over--bye for now. Lori

We had crab cakes, pan fried potatoes and broccoli for supper. Thanks for the hugs and support, friends. It means a lot to me.

Chris, Both are good brands of hot chocolate.
Betsy & Chris, Oldest DD loves Starbucks.
Angela, I don't like being able to hop in the car and go when I want to but I'm good for the weekend.
Bet, Wow! That's hot in the greenhouse!
I cooked roast pork on the grill rotisserie and it came out so good. We love the crispy pork skin.

Too hot to really cook this evening so I pulled a container is h/m spaghetti sauce from the freezer, add some Italian sausage meatballs and served it with spaghetti. Vanilla ice cream and a h/m Melba sauce. Can't get much easier than that.

Chris, that recipe sounds great. It is easy to make Carmel sauce and also hazelnut sauce so could be made completely from scratch.
