Good morning friends.
It's going to be another hot one here today.
Charlene, Good to see you popping in. Please join us any time. Jan, Glad you found us.
Some of you mentioned pork roast yesterday, I have one in the freezer I need to take out for dinner on Sunday.
Marlene, Your DGD sure keep busy and that is a good thing for teenagers. They seem like hard workers. My kids head back to school the day after Labor Day.
Youngest DD had a friend sleep over last night.
Chicken cutlets on the menu for tonight. Corn on the cob and something else to go with it but I'm not sure yet.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

Good morning. 65 and was raining when I got up but now we are seeing sun off and on and is suppose to be a nice afternoon. I plan to spend most of the day in the kitchen however. Need to get some much needed cleaning done there and also some cooking. Have a list so will see how far I get.
However, I don't plan on cooking for dinner. Have a little of this and a little of that in the refrigerator so will work on using things up in there before I have some science experiments growing in there.
Have a great day.

I am not happy! > I got in the car this morning and the trans was acting up! Back to the mechanic I go to ask "if you really rebuilt the trans, why isn't it working?!"

Nancy so sorry to see your post on the car! What do they get paid for?? It really is disgusting to have things worked on and not be right. That is one thing will say for my dealership they do things right might cost me but it is right.
Went to town and got paint to paint the bricks on two sides of house. Also bought me new Weber Grill. Now need to get it picked up. Will give Terry a call and have him pick it up for me.
We are having leftovers for dinner and it is the guys choice so will heat up everything for them. I did make a new dessert for them. Used Chocolate Chip cookie dough for crust then cream cheese and powdered sugar next layer and vanilla and chocolate pudding for the next layer then cool whip and chocolate curls and nuts on top.
Hope you all have a good day and good luck to you Nancy! Marlene

Good Friday morning to everyone. I have been spinning my wheels this morning and have accomplished nothing, hope to change that real soon and get a meatloaf made and maybe a chocolate cake. They did get the tree cut down yesterday and it sure lets a lot more light in my living room, looks better to. It was a very messy tree that constantly was dropping something on the patio and outdoor furniture. They are still working on my new sidewalk, it will take awhile as they just work when they have time. It sure will be pretty when they get all done. Marlene hope your foot is getting better everyday, seems like it takes a long time to heal something like that. How do you make your chocolate curls? Mine are always way too small and want bigger ones. Are they getting close to being done at your house? I bet it looks really nice and ready to enjoy. I hope everyone will have a good day and a nice week-end.
Sara

Afternoon, friends! It's very muggy today, but tomorrow promises to be drier. Last night's black beans and rice with the peach(nectarine)salsa was delicious! Tonight we are finishing the pork tenderloin with blueberry sauce, risotto cakes, and I will make a TOH recipe for " Broccoli Side Dish". I looked at the comments and will add a touch of sesame oil and some Sriracha. Nancy - That stinks about your car. Hope the issue gets resolved soonest. Bet - LOL on your comment about science experiments...have had a few of those!! Hope everyone as a great start to "le weekend"!

Sara I am not very good at making choc. curls! I happened to find them in the grocery store in a jar. I have looked since I bought these and they don't have them anymore. So will use until gone. Then will use the little ones that look like a mouse left it!! They are in the decorating stuff for cupcakes and cake supplies in a jar. The dessert was very good and guys loved it. Marlene

Nancy, want to borrow the shirt I got for Christmas last year that says"Nothing is Easy"? I wear it a lot and my walking buddy and I just say "NIE" when something goes wrong!

Nancy - that really sucks about the car. I would be mighty upset. Not sure what we'll eat tonight. Nothing I have planned this week has gone according to my plan > so come supper time, I'll see what we want. Last night we ended up with raspberries, yogurt and granola. We were both full from lunch. I spoke at the beginning of the week about cauliflower cakes and we never had them either so I cooked the veggies and got them made today - but they have headed for the freezer. Otherwise the cauliflower would have been wasted and I hate to waste food. Went out for breakfast with friends this morning to a new restaurant a few miles away. It was nice, but very noisy.

Hello there friends. What began as a nice bright day has turned into a cloudy, hot, wet, and windy afternoon. We are currently at 93*, and have seen numerous spotty showers fall since noon. As of the last half hour, our winds have the palms swaying away to the thunder that is booming. Forecasters on three different stations are saying three different things about the tropical weather to the south, so I guess we'll just have to play the wait and see game.
Marlene, would you mind sharing your dessert recipe? You keep the guys so well fed, they'll never want to leave! Are you one of those people that grill out in the winter months or will you be storing your new Weber away until the return of spring weather? Naturally, living in Florida I grill year round, but growing up as a kid there where times during the Michigan winters that we'd wheel out the grill and light it up.
Sara, did you make your meatloaf and chocolate cake? Glad the tree and it's droppings are gone--will they replace it with something else that isn't as messy?
Ann, I have to check back and see if you shared the link to the peach/nectarine salsa--if not, would you mind doing so? It sounds different and refreshing! Peaches and such are pretty much done with here for now. I love my Ga. peaches, followed by the SC peaches, but last week I bought a few from Pa. and was disappointed (rotting from the inside out).
Bet, hope you were able to cross a few things off your list today.
Pippin3, I need to find me one of those NIE shirts!
Tasty, your dinner last night sounds pretty much perfect to me--it reminds me of my DGF growing raspberries when I was a kid. I didn't even bother to come inside the house to eat them--just laid back in the grass and made a meal of them!
Nancy, OMG!!! How did you make out the 2nd trip over to the mechanic?
Dinner is leftovers--need to make some space in the refrigerator, only to fill it up again tomorrow. On the hit parade tonight is pot roast with potatoes and carrots, porcupine meatballs, ham steak, and pasta salad. DH is ready to eat, so I'll close. Take care and have a relaxing Friday evening. Lori
Edit--Hi Betsy! You have a great weekend too!

Here is a late hello from me. We caught the shuttle and then the ferry into Quebec. It was cloudy and drizzly but after about an hour the sun came out and it was a hot day. We boarded the double decker bus and rode all around the town. We got off back where we boarded and ate lunch at a "pub" . I had poutine and DH had fish n chips. We walked around old town. We visited the Museum of the Place Royale. It was ok. We also did a tour of the Notre Dame of Quebec. We stopped for a cold drink and splurged on a scoop of strawberry gelato. Yum! Not sure we'll be interested in any supper. I don't have anything planned. There are some leftovers, or some stuff for sandwiches. I think we will go back over tomorrow on the ferry, and we'll just try to manage on our own. DH wants to go and see the Citadel. Not sure what else we may go and do. There is a botanical garden but it's about a 30 minute drive I think out of town. Maybe do that on Sunday. Monday we leave and head to Montreal.
Nancy, that is terrible about your car. Make them do it right!!
Betsy, I am so sorry you are having trouble with losing your post. I was hoping all that sort of thing was left behind over at TOH.
Enjoy your evening friends!

We had leftovers for supper, too. Good stuff, though. We like our leftovers. :) It just stopped thundering and pouring rain. It was wicked there for awhile. I hear you, Lori. We're hearing different stories on different channels about this weekend and beyond weatherwise. I'll be so so glad when hurricane season is gone. Oh Nancy, I'd give that car a big kick (instead of the service guy). Good luck. It's been a tumultuous week here. I could sure use some hugs, friends. Sweet dreams.

Wow, I had a box of pastry mix in the pantry. That tuned out really nicely - I'm impressed.
That said, when we went picking tomatoes and raspberries, there was enough that we had to use some tonight. So, I made up the pastry, and made a quiche with to arose, mushrooms and a little Italian sausage. That with a salad and fresh beets, followed by raspberries, yogurt and granola made for a good and inexpensive meal.
