Several years ago someone posted a Food Safety Guide for safe storage times on the TOH site. I pinned it on my main board as I referred to it frequently. Somehow I inadvertently deleted it recently. It was a great guide and easy to follow. Is anyone here familiar with it? If so, I'd appreciate the actual name of the site again as all I had pinned was my abbreviation 'Food Safety' . While there are several across the internet I haven't found that particular one. Thanks in advance.

Tasty, sorry I can't help you with this one. If you are able to find it, however, it would be appreciated if you are able to post the info. as I'm sure it would be helpful not only to myself, but others as well. Thanks! Lori

Sorry I can't help you. I could have used something like that before we retired. Now nothing lasts longer than 6 months in either freezer.

I took a look at the site and bookmarked. Was glad to see expiration date on food is clarified. So many through things away the day of the expiration but it is still safe to eat. What a waste. Also the indefinite storage in the freezer as long as they are held at zero. The advantage of the vacuum packaging of the meat etc. also hold the flavor and texture so I don't feel bad about eating 2 year old chicken.

Bette--I agree about the vacuum packaging. I once found a 2-year-old piece of salmon in the bottom of the freezer that was perfectly fine when cooked. Sure surprised me! As long as it is air-tight and frozen properly, you can use your common sense.
I'm checking out that site right now.
