Good morning! The extreme winds finally abated overnight. We are no longer on the list of driest Novembers since we got about 3 inches of rain since Thursday. Rain is predicted tomorrow and Thanksgiving. We did have a lazy day yesterday. The frittata was good last night with a side salad. I'm thinking we will go down to dinner tonight to enjoy the wagyu beef, but not sure. Today will be the first day of the Baldwin turkey hunt! 60 mini turkeys have been placed in the public areas of the buildings. Will take a walk around later. Just heard on the news that the carrot recall because of a country wide e-coli outbreak has been lifted...just in time for Thanksgiving. Tammy - I had cellulitis a number of years ago. It was a painful and long enduring experience. I could hardly walk! Wishing Dave a quick healing. Lori - Hope PT goes OK for you. We haven't had an 'indoor picnic' in a while. Will have to remedy that!! Elza - Enjoy your visit with DS1. Is work progressing on your house or are you still waiting for work to begin. Beef roast is a great winter meal! Helen - What do you like on your pizza? We like peppers & onions with extra cheese. Time to get a move on. Waving to all! Enjoy your day.

Good morning all. Not going to be what I might all warm here today - looks like we might just sneak into the 40s if we're lucky but I won't complain. Tomorrow we'll get a few showers but at least it will be rain, not the white stuff! I ha e an appointment late this morning so before I go out, I want to get enough lemons prepared for 8 batches of lemon curd that I will make tomorrow for the sale. That's a lot of zesting and juicing but will save so much time in the morning. Afterwards, a bit of grocery shopping before coming home to bake. I think our favourite pizza is possibly a ham and pineapple, with of course a nice layer of cheese, maybe not the healthiest but we don't often have it. Have a marvelous Monday.

Good morning. Not quite as chilly this morning but still too cold for me. But Mandy was quick and in a hurry to get her treat. She is all curled up in her bed and I'm enjoying my second cup of coffee.
Today I have an appointment with the eye specialist to do a check on the MD. Lynda will be driving since I won't be able to see well enough to drive with my eyes dilated. They usually stay that way most of the day too. So I won't get much of anything done the rest of the day. Maybe a good time for a nice nap. This morning I better finally get the ironing done. There isn't much but I'm a great procrastinator.
Happy Monday to all.

He's home! Thank you for the good thoughts and prayers. They lanced the spot and drained it, and bandaged him up. They did call it cellulitis, but it was a different type than when I had it about 10 years ago. I cannot remember if it was both legs, but at least one leg was red, swollen and covered in blisters from knee to ankle. He got home by 10. I got the pecan pie made last night. I reduced the temperature because it seems like the top of the pie gets so brown and the pecans are caramelized. That helped I think.
He took the car and had to drive back up to Jacksonville for a follow up appointment on his surgery. I plan to work around here and then grocery shop this afternoon. I won't need to buy meat for the mission. I am making macaroni & beef-goulash. I already had plenty of ground beef. I'm hoping to make carrot raisin salad and my friend is baking peanut butter cookies for the dessert.
It is currently 71. Our high will be 82. In Houston they may break a record for high temp on this date.
Your turkey scavenger hunt sounds fun Ann.
Tasty, you are right, that is a lot of zesting! It will be worth it.
Mamma, I did not recall you saying that you had MD. I'm sorry. Glad you have Lynda to drive you. Did you get lunch out yesterday?
Enjoy your roast Elza, That meal is one of my favorites of all time. DH can now eat beef again! I may have to get a roast at the store!
Oldest Ds told me that his 2nd DD has broken up with her guy. They were not married but have lived together for several years, so she has moved back home. We have decided to stay at a hotel when we travel to Amarillo for Christmas. I found a pet friendly hotel not too far from their house, and it's a pretty good price that includes breakfast. It is so cold up there in December, and they keep there house very cool, so at least I can be warm in the hotel room!
Waving to everyone. I slept in so had better get dressed and do some of my chores. Also need to find something for supper!

Good morning. I had an early mamo appointment. I went to walk Coco and she only made it to the street. I just let her back in the gate. Karen came out and I said by any chance you cooking, lol she said yes. So then I walked myself. Got home and Kathy asked if I could walk Blu on my walk, I didn't let her know I had already walked. After walking Blu I went and tried Coco again so then we walked. I have gotten all my steps in and it's not even 10 am.

Tam, I'm so happy things went well for your DH. SAve me some of the carrot raisin salad, oh I love that. I've had MD for years and it has never changed, it has stayed at bay without any issues at all. And I hope it continues to not get any worse, I don't even know or knew that I had it to begin with. I only go to the specialist for a check, once a year. No lunch out yesterday, just a quick trip to the $tree.
This morning I returned the food processor to WM. After giving it more serious thought, I will not use it much at all. So save my money. I'll need the money more. But I am keeping the bread machine, I can see using that a lot more often. :) The ironing is finally done too. The bread for my turkey stuffing is on cookie sheets drying. Not much on my to do list for today.

Sorry about that. Ended up with company and hit send. Then I went up and had a chat with manager as our lease is due December 1st and she upped our rent $60 a month instead of $40. We had got a letter back in August saying 40, 30 and 30 for the next 3 years. Thank goodness I had saved it because this letter we got a month ago said. $60, 40 and $40.
Ann- I use those baby carrots all the time. I need to start using the whole ones. Are the turkeys little stuffed ones and do you pick them up as you find them?
Tammy- I am so glad to hear Dave is home. Hopefully, things start improving for him. What's the surgery for? I must of missed that.
Tasty- that is alot of zesting and juicing. Give your hands a rest.
Mamma- hope your eye appointment goes well.
Bet- another lovely picture.
Tonight, I am making chicken Gloria for supper. It looks so good on Facebook. Hope it tastes good.
Time for cards. Elaine

I'm doing the usual Monday chore of washing laundry. Nothing else happening. I've just about figured out supper for tonite. Leftover charred hot dogs, baked beans, and radishes. Tammy, so sorry Dave had a problem that affected his dialysis treatment. Mamma, I didn't realize you have MD either. No wonder you ache if you overdo a bit. Hope it's a good report at your doctor appt. today. Hugs to all.

Just got home from the store. I went to my least favorite in town because I wanted to order a case of frozen rhubarb. I tried ordering it back in September I think. After about a week they called and said they could not order any until November. Well today they say they cannot get it at all. I am going to talk to the owner of the local bakery because I know she has ordered it in the past. I hate shopping at that store! They had no frozen cinnamon rolls either. Looks like I will be making another trip to town before Thursday to get those. I want to bake those for breakfast Thursday morning.
Elaine-the surgery DH had was to insert a port in his belly for the dialysis.
He said he would be home as soon as he could get out of his 2:30 meeting.
I decided on trying a new recipe for supper. It's called Wonderful Chicken. Basically it is a baked chicken breast topped with Swiss cheese and a dusting of crushed herb seasoned stuffing. A lady at church makes a dish she calls chicken wonderful-I think it is the same recipe. I am thinking of baking this next week for the mission if I like it tonight.
I searched online for a quantity carrot raisin salad recipe but never found one that I liked. There were not very many available. I made some once before and took a regular recipe then multiplied it to get 40 servings...I ended up with enough salad to feed maybe 100! Marty told me if I make it the day before it will be even better tomorrow, so I will make that later this evening. Marty is the lady that used to work in the school cafeteria and she bakes desserts for me sometimes.
Have a super day!

Good afternoon, friends! Waving to all and hope everyone is having a great day!
Ann, that turkey hunt sounds like fun! We love ham and pineapple on our pizza here.
Bet, another picture I like---thank you for sharing! Are you working today? the mamma, hope you heard good news from your eye specialist today.
Tammy, so happy Dave is home and doing better! We eat a lot of chicken here, so if your happy with the Wonderful Chicken recipe tonight, please share. I have never had carrot salad---is it sweet or savory?
Elaine, same with your Chicken Gloria---if you like it, please share the recipe. Just wondering if you could walk Coco and Blu together, the same time so you wouldn't have to walk so many times? Its very good for you that you hung on to that original letter regarding your lot lease and even better if they will honor it!
PT was a real good workout this morning---a non-stop hour! Today, Wednesday, and then again 2 days next week, I have this young girl that really cracks the whip compared to the older lady I was originally assigned. Heather had me trying all kinds of new things---as tough as she is, and as much as I knew it wasn't going to be a cream puff hour, I really appreciate what she puts me through. I won't talk about the pain I am in afterwards because I just tell myself it's going to help my legs and going to be worth it in the end.
Afterwards, I went down the hall and tried to get my lab work done, however, I ran into problems. My doctor faxed over the order two weeks ago, but the hospital satellite location where I get the OT and PT claims they never got it. I left, but when I got into the parking lot, I called the doctor myself. Never had problems before with the doctor so I don't really know if it was the doctor or the hospital, but they faxed another order right over. Went back inside, they told me that it sometimes takes awhile, they were sorry as it still hadn't come through. Ugh! Came home, took care of a few small things around the house and then called the hospital again. I was on hold for 35 minutes! Finally, they had my order, and they could draw the blood, so back I went.
Then DH had to take my car into the body shop this afternoon where they took pictures and will let us know what it will cost for repairs. Unfortunately, this is not an insurance-approved shop and depending on what they want to charge, we may need to find a 2nd choice that is an approved body shop. Sadly, the insurance-approved shops aren't in our county, and we'd either need to travel north or south, approx. 25-30 miles one way, rather then 10 minutes from the house. Such is life!
Finally this afternoon, I needed to make a phone call regarding a new medication I am supposed to start next week---seems my insurance is dragging their feet. Such is life!
Well, I need to close. DH just walked in with our groceries he went shopping for---I'm sure he'd appreciate my help in packing them away. Afterwards, dinner will be stuffed cabbage rolls from the freezer this evening. Lori

It's been a busy day and I'm ready to head off to bed already. DS1 went to Greenville tonight to have dinner with his cousins (out niece-in-law and kiddos) and I'm sure they are having a good time.
The roast turned out well. DS was sorry to miss dinner here since he'd been smelling it cooking all day -- but there's plenty for him to have tomorrow.
No official bid from the contractor yet but he's already let DH know it is not close to what insurance is offering. I'm praying they can work it out and get started.
We'll head out to Summerville tomorrow afternoon after DH finishes his classes. I did laundry tonight and will pack when I get off work.
The mention of carrot salad reminded me of my favorite version: shredded carrots with drained crushed pineapple. The dressing is equal parts of honey and lemon juice. Now I want some!

I shredded 4 lbs of carrots, with DH's help, but it only filled 1 9 x 13 aluminum pan. I don't think that is going to feed 40. I make a dressing of salad dressing, real mayo, a dash of sugar and some white vinegar. I would say the salad is definitely on the sweet side.
