Good evening. I am sitting here waiting for someone to come on to chat with me about Alice. Sorry I haven't been chatting but it has been a couple of long busy days. Dinner went great last night. They ate well. Actually ended up with 29 and there was hardly enough food left to feed that 30th person if they had showed up. There was more than enough turkey so however. I need to get my notes put together and typed up for next year. I got home a little after 9 last night but didn't get to bed until almost 10:30. Never woke up until 8 and it is usually 5 when I wake up. Today have have putzed around. I brought our totes of utensils etc. home with me last night to get the organized and know exactly what we have and what I have to order. First necessary thing is another tote. When I first got up Alice and I started cleaning floors. I moved more furniture that usual so she could get some other areas and then worked with my shark stick to get where she can't go. I have gotten all of the garbage and recyclables to the garage. It was a beautiful day out but I never got out to get anything done. Have decided I am not working again tomorrow and I must get outside to work. The mess from emptying the greenhouse is still sitting on my side porch. It is a jungle to get out of the house.
I have enough of everything from last night to have my dinner tonight except pumpkin pie. I have an individual one that I put together a bit ago in the oven cooking now. I even have 3 shrimp left so I can have a shrimp cocktail to start my dinner then a full thanksgiving dinner.
Well shark just decided their agents we too busy to chat with me. Of course they are done work in about 30 minutes so probably didn't want to get into a more discussions for the day.
Ann, I am a big fan of Norman Rockwell. In fact many years ago my DGD bought me a book about him and pictures of many of his creations. I have a wall hanging that I have had for about 20 years that hings right on the opposite side of the slider when I am sitting right now and a mug that I use for my tea in the morning. Hope you enjoyed your lunch guests today.
Tasty, glad you enjoyed your tart this morning but not for me. I am not a fan of cranberries for some reason. I think because most preparations are way to sweet for me. Hope your afternoon of cooking was very successful.
Birdy, so glad you are going to get a good guaranteed price for your car.
Mamma, turkeys seem to be going real cheap around here. I think one market has them for $.49 a pound. Hope you enjoy your bread machine. I have on in the basement but don't use it anymore. I didn't bake anything in it just used it to make the dough. I find my bread is much better doing it by hand as I can control the moisture content by eyeballing it where as it is a pain with the machine. The recipe just calls for x amount of moisture and it is difficult to what it while is mixing to see if it needs or flour. BTS I bake my bread then slice it and plastic wrap it, put it in a zip loc and freeze it. I have a serrated knife that has a guide on it that you can adjust to different thickness that works great. Also have a wooden board with tall spikes that you can cut between that work good but the slices are a bit thinner than I like them.
Chris, you pear chutney sounds good. I love cooked cabbage but have never really made a soup based on cabbage.
Helen, glad that you got some much needed rain. We are suppose to get rain Thursday and Friday but at least it isn't snow which is unusual for this late in November.
Tammy, looks like you put out a great meal for the homeless again today. Even if you didn't save any for yourself the dinner sound pretty darn good.
Enjoy your evening.
