Good morning everyone. It is 34º and going to 45º with rain showers this afternoon and evening.
Yesterday was supposed to be my day off with Phyllis, but the Mennonite gal that works on the days I don't called and said she had a back ache and wasn't able to work. I agreed to go and get her up, dressed and fed but could only stay a couple hours since I had plans. I took Curt to the neighboring town for groceries and other errands. When I got home shortly before 5, I took a chicken salad croissant to Phyllis so she'd have something for supper. Today I take Phyllis to doctor appointment and am supposed to encourage the doctor to suggest assisted living for Phyllis during winter months (her DD's request)
I feel a little better this morning, but still not up to par.
Karen...I hope you had a good day yesterday. Your lack of post later in the day always makes me wonder. I don't think any of us drink thee proper amount of water.
Leslie...Congrats to DGS on getting the job, but I agree that 5-6 weeks training seems a bit too much. Having GF and DGD ride with you is good for company. Glad they found the 3 yr old girl safe.
Mary KY...I have a leaf blower and seldom use it. I am a rake gal, but haven't used one of those this fall either.
Marlene...I guess you must have been tired to require a nap and still early to bed. Your pumpkin scones sound wonderful!
Carol....Moving that bookcase is a big job. Did the spirit move to clean the bedroom?
Mary M...We are going to be getting that cool and blustery the next couple of days too.
Gayle...Is this the 1st that your temps have fallen below 40? Hope the GH heater worked.
Hope Melissa and family are getting more deer.
Wishing everyone a great day. Charlene

Good morning, it is currently 40° with a high expected of 52°. The sun is shining brightly.
I bought a large ceramic pot many years ago. It stands about 2 feet and is probably 2 feet across at the top. I planted a variety of different coleus in it this year and they did very well. I cut them off in the last part of August because I was going to be away a month. When I got home the end of September I noticed that one of the plants had a shoot come up from the root. I have not watered it since August and it is still going. Really surprises me that it is still going with no watering. It is on a covered balcony so no rain unless it blows in which doesn't happen too often.
Got my bookshelf all moved and am pleased with its new location. No, the spirit did not move me to clean the whole bedroom. hahaha Have a good day.

Good morning, its 49° cloudy, breezy and raining headed to highs in the mid -50s. All and all it’s a sloppy morning after a night of rain and breezy to gusty south winds. Looks like another gloomy day.
No special plans for today and a really good day not to have to go anywhere.
Charlene, you do so much for Phyllis. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Mary, I also had to look up York apples, it’s another popular heirloom apple best known for its medium size, firm texture, and mild flavor. They can be a variety of colors, including deep red with green streaks, yellowish-green with a red blush, or almost fully red.
Dave, I don’t think I have ever seen a York apple.
Carol, wow sounds like your coleus plant is doing great.
Elaine, that’s nice of you to take your friend to the doctor.
I had best post this before I get sidetracked again.
Have a great day everyone.

Its 38 and raining and windy here. Nasty day and glad I am not out hunting.
We came home yesterday and were back home by 12:30. Dh and I got his deer hung in our garage. We worked on cutting meat. We got the chops, necks and front shoulders all done from both deer. We finished up just about dinner time sand had fresh tenderloin for dinner. We were both whopped after dinner. I was asleep on the couch by 8:15. Woke up at 9:45 and talked to dd a bit. Didn’t think I would be sleepy when I went to bed but slept from 10:30-5. I had slept bad a couple nights we were gone. One morning I woke up at 3:40 and was still awake at 5 when it was time to get up. Will be hard to break the cycle of getting up that early every day once hunting season is over.
This morning I went to town with dd. Aldis had prime rib roasts for $7.99/# limit 1. Well dd got one and I got 1! That was an unexpected purchase and dh was excited. We also went to home depot to look at the fridge models. Our fridge stopped working yet again. We decided we’re done putting money in to it. We will order a new one tonight. Home depot has a sale but its still $2100 before tax to get one the same size and features as ours.
Charlene- Time to lay down the law with Phyllis’s dd. She needs a reality check!
I need to go build a fire. Its chilly in here. Have a good day.

Whew! I made it to noon on yet another day. I'm grateful. This morning has been good overall. I was starting to lose my patience with DH, so it was time to walk away and let him do whatever it was that made sense to him. He had been fooling around with the movies he had once again taken out of the movie room. They were scattered all over the family room and the dining room table was covered at least 2 or 3 movies deep. It was a mess. I started out letting him do whatever he wanted while I laid down and kept an eye on things. He kept spilling the piles and getting upset, so I went to help him. It was a gamble to do that because I have an organized mind and he doesn't. We could have fought, but I actually got compliments from him on how good I was doing. I had to go searching for more boxes to put the movies in because he put the other two good sized boxes we had used before in recycling. We still had them in the blue totes, but YUCK! I didn't want to put the movies in them again. After we were done with all of the movies that were not on the table, I needed a break. DH didn't. He wanted to keep working on the table, which was fine, but we were not going to agree on him taking movies out of the packaging they were already in because we don't have anything else to replace that with and I am not up for buying more movie storage crap. Whatever he does now will have to be good enough. I'd bet a lot of money this isn't the last time we will be doing this. Good call, Charlene, on why I wasn't back posting later yesterday. It was by far and a way one of the worst days I have had in a while. DH overflowed the toilet again early in the morning, which set the tone for the rest of the day. It was a horrible mess and a disaster for me. Mercifully, I was able to unplug the toilet without calling the plumber again. I was heartsick about the mess DH had created because he didn't think anything of tracking poopy watered-logged socks throughout the house. His neuropathy kept him from feeling his socks were wet and his brain never registered what he had done in the rest of the house. On some level, I know he knew what he'd created because he was inordinately angry with me for getting the kneeler and scrubbing the floors by hand. I did the bathroom and the hallway, but that was all I could do in the moment. He tried to help by getting out the Woolite can of carpet cleaner for me, but this required a lot more than that. My cousin's husband hasn't fixed our carpet cleaner yet, so I needed a new plan. DH had suggested I get a new mop so I didn't have to be on my hands and kneels cleaning. I had two mops in the garage that were wretched messes and I didn't know what they had been used on before, so I wasn't willing to use them again. Good thing, too, because when I looked them up I found the sponges to be dry rotted. Into the trash they go! I had to go to Kroger anyway, so I picked up a new mop there that I really like a lot. I didn't pay a lot for it, but I sure am glad for it today even if it doesn't last long. I was able to use that today along with the Pine-sol I also got yesterday to "scrub" the most likely places we have walked in the house since yesterday. It wasn't ideal by any means, but I do feel much better about the cleanliness of things. Unfortunately, that meant the carpet throughout the house was considerably wet and posed something of a falling risk if we had wet socks and walked on the linoleum without being careful. A couple of times, my cane almost went out from under me. But I didn't fall and neither has DH - so far. I got out a bunch of towels and sheets to try to absorb the dampness, which has seemingly worked out okay. I have laundry like crazy to do, but the carpet is clean and we haven't fallen. Another problem yesterday was that when I showered (which made DH mad for some reason) I saw that there is a leak from the shower head attachment coming from the wall. Because why not? It was already a crappy day. I pleasantly discovered that it didn't leak on certain pressure flows. I was able to shower without a problem when I reduced the spray pressure. That is one other thing to ask for help with at some point. I'm not tall enough to reach and DH isn't stable enough to reach up and try to tighten the fixture, which is all I think needs doing. As far as DH's attitude has been, once again I noticed last night how it seemed like a light switch had gone off in his head and he was noticeably kinder to me. Previously, he was distant, angry, and sometimes mean. Today feels "okay" for the time being. Maybe I am just letting stuff go easier so there isn't conflict? I talked with DH's sister last night. I wanted to update her on his new medicine protocol I am trying out. If I ever can't be in charge of it for whatever reason, she and DSon now know what I am doing with the meds. My DSis#3 texted me while I was at Kroger yesterday. I called her when I was able to later on, and she talked me through some hard stuff. Little sisters came through! The divine timing of my sister's text and call were perfect. I had sent her DH a thinking of you card as he recovered from surgery, and they got it yesterday. Just when I needed to talk to her! Very serene setting, Bet! Charlene, so now it is up to you to make suggestions to the doctor for Phyllis? Her DD really is abdicating her responsibility, isn't she? How nice of you to make that chicken salad sandwich for Phyllis. I hope you feel better as the day goes on. I neglected, Mary, to answer your question about DH's medication. I'm sorry about that. I may need to get something different going for the meds, but DH doesn't go in the bedroom all that much. If I have to, though, I will buy a tote of some sort for the pills. Good deal on the Burger King meal. Nice to have the surprise with the coleus, Carol. You reminded me I ought to go check on what is happening my my garage. I hope to keep the lantana going over the winter. Doesn't need to bloom, just not die. Elaine, I like your expected high temp today. Enjoy cards today. Very sweet of you to be taking your friend to the doctor. I hope, Mary M., that you can find an enjoyable way to spend the gloomy weather day today. Your weather report does suggest it not being a good day for hunting, Melissa. Glad the hunting provided you with meat and you got it cut up. Sorry about the fridge problem. That will be expensive to replace. Well, I ought to go warm up something for lunch. I need to also figure out something for supper. Like DH, I am getting quite tired of the frozen meals. Time to break out the not-quite-forgotten cooking skills again! Have a wonderful Wednesday. I had to check the computer to see what day it is today. LOL! I didn't make it to the museum because of cleaning the carpet. The same was true for not going to get my bloodwork done. I had good intentions, but the carpet getting cleaned was most important. I feel a lot better now.

Good afternoon,
Sunny & cool today; low 50s. Sweatshirt weather for me. It was windy earlier but has calmed down now.
Charlene, last night would have been our 1st night below 40 but we stopped at 42.
right now @ 3:45 it is 51 & supposed to be upper 40s overnight.
I have a new plant in my GH. A lady I know in here & someone I have traded plants with before saw my GH picture on our community page & jokingly asked if I had room for one of hers. It was a gift; a beautiful arrangement of Tuberous Begonias, Polka Dot pants & a huge fern. She is already over-wintering 4 palms in her house & didn't have room for it. I think she was surprised when I told her I would find room for it.
Since the nights are getting chilly her DH dropped it off this morning & I had already made room for it. I'll post a picture on the thread. Now let's hope I don't kill it.
I haven't done anything exciting today, just kind of lazed around. I was convinced today was Thur.
Mary, that song would have been "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay by Otis Redding.
Charlene,IMO, it's not your place to be suggesting anything to the Dr. for Phyllis. Her DD should be doing that. Seems like the family just doesn't want to deal with her so they expect you to do everything.
Karen, how long have you had that can of Woolite? When Prince was sick & throwing up all over the place I couldn't find a spray can of carpet cleaner of any kind, anywhere & still can't. I am also having trouble finding carpet shampoo for my scrubber except for the jugs you can buy when you rent a machine & they're ridiculously over priced. I always liked the Spot Shot spray. It would clean anything. But it's one of those products that never came back after Covid.
Going to go post the picture I mentioned above. But 1st I have to transfer it from my camera.
